  1. Thank you for the link. I'll definitely check it out. Sadly no cost plus in my area :(

Vicki147 - Good lunck with the surgery. Time is moving fast on my end so the 5 weeks postop have FLOWN by. I like being busy so that helps (dreading our summer break a bit only because I don't do well with downtine...at least eating wise. Hoping this year will be better since I can't eat a lot!).

  2. Glad to hear from you (sorry to hear about your dad). Post and let me know how much you lost. I'm older so I think the weight is going to take its sweet time coming off of me (sadly). I have not throw up in the technical sense but I have had burps that brought up food (that I've had to spit out). I also love love love how easily I get full. Last night I had a small amount of mashed potatoes, with gravy, half a very thin porkchop, and maybe a teaspoon of veggies (that was too much food...my stomach was protesting).

  3. I think when you start loosing you will feel like walking more. I am only 10 days out and today was the first day that I walked any "real" distance. Any kind of exercise helps. You can park further away at the grocery store, walk around the block with your kids, etc. I am not a huge exercise fan either.

You might try getting the Leslie Sansone Walk away the Pounds DVD's (cheap at Walmart). The one mile work out is only 15 minutes.

  4. Joni - Dr. Kelly's patients are asked not to add protein into their diet until Day 10 (which will be this weekend for me). There is a caveat to that...you can add protein to your clear liquids if you start feeling lethargic (which I am not). The next thing I can add to my diet at day 8 is skim milk to see how I tolerate that before moving into liquid proteins on day 10. I don't start soft food until Day 22 (which is April 20th for me).

  5. I'll try the PowerAid. I'm at the airport now - it took us 2 hours to get over the boarder! Ana said on Sunday that it can take upward of 4 hours.

Someone on the other board posted that nail polish remover worked to get the surgical goo off. I'll try that tomorrow.

My bowel movements are liquid as well (nice to know it isn't just me!).

My ability to drink more liquids have gone up each day. I'm drinking an airport apple juice at the moment and am almost half done. I count to 20 after every sip so that sort of helps keep me in check. I'm finding that super sweet as well (almost at an annoying level). I'm not sure if I gained some sugar sensitivity with the surgery. I only drink the low sugar kind at home so maybe my body is simply not use to it. I haven't had broth yet that might be something I try tomorrow (when sadly I go back to work :(

Good idea on marking the calendar. I'll do that when I get home as well.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Keep me posted on your progress. I'm not sure what day I am going to weigh in but I'm with you....once a week is fine (which is what I always did anyways).

  6. Thank you everyone for your posts and stories. I'm sorry I haven't posted back sooner but I am just getting the hang of how the blogging on this forum works. I thought I would be emailed notification of responses to the blog so I never checked back to see if I had any reponses!

I thought the blog would be the better way of recording my journey then regular forum posting.

Kathy and nreah - Thank you so much for the pep talk! I love hearing how everything turned out fine despite all the worries going into it. I know I am just being overly mental about the whole thing but I made my decision and I am sticking to it and I try to squelch the Whatifs as soon as they pop into my head.

    17 days left to go!
