Leaving Tomorrow For Mexico

I am leaving tomorrow for Mexico. My bag is packed and I think I am ready. I have to make a copy of my passport and drivers license for the house (we had a friend who lost his in South Africa and it was a pain getting those things replaced when there were no copies).

I am taking the bare minimum. I don't want to spend the extra money on checking it. I may do that on the return flight but I think I can always get some kind person to help me lift and take down a bag from the overhead. I booked window seats going out and aisle seats coming back.

I am not taking makeup, hairspray, etc. I'll be "roughing it". My flight leaves very early and comes back very late so it is doubtful I will run into anyone I know.

I just finished the "just in case I die" letter to my husband (not mushy more practical...things he would need to know...like my mother's phone number :)

I am sooo excited for you! Trust me, you wont be worrying about putting on makeup etc...you will be too tired. I only brought a large tee, undies and a large pair of pj pants and some socks. I had my phone charger, gas-x, a band to put my hair up and chapstick ( didnt need gas-x by the way) I may be a bit different cause I was only 30 minutes away from my house but trust me , you wont be needing much. Keep us posted on your recovery and prayers your way!

I am so happy that you journey begins tomorrow. I also went to Tijuana, Mexico alone for my surgery in Dec 2011. I also did not take much with me but then I did not need any makeup although maybe somedays I could use some....... I know that you will have a great experience. You do not say where you are going or who your surgeon is but I hope that your surgery and stay are a good one. Please keep us posted and keep the faith. I know that all will be fine and you will be home before you know it.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! You'll be just fine. I had mine 2.5 weeks ago in Tijuana, with no problems! Didn't bring much with me either - just the essentials.. one thing to remember is ... don't drink the water! They had bottled water in the hotel and I was assured that the broth in the hotel restaurant was made with bottled water as well.

Let us know your progress - will be sending positive thoughts your way tomorrow.
