I am having the band Aug 15. I am also having hand surgery Aug. 9. I have discussed both surgeries with the HR dept. and have permission to take the time off. The problem is telling my boss. She is a very negative person and gets very very upset when I am not here. I have skirted around the subject of getting my hand fixed and she got pissed. I do not plan to tell anyone here about the lap band (other than the HR lady). They are not supportive. I plan to use the hand surgery as an excuse to be gone. I don't know what I want you all to say, I guess I just needed to tell someone. She is in such a bad mood today I just do not know when a good time would be. She has been slamming doors all day it is making me a nervous wreck. I have enought to think about. Please help:help:

Fotchi, I have BC&BS of IL. PPO type and was approved in about 4 weeks. They required a thyroid test which your family doc. can do, a psy. eval, a referral letter from one of your Dr., and a BMI of 40 or above and be 100 Lbs. overweight. Your BMI can be 35 or above if you have comorbidities (sleep apenia, sugar, arthritis, among other things). Call and ask for a list of exactly what the want. i went overboard and gave them years worth of files. Good luck. TexasBecky, I feel exactly like you do. One minute I am excited the next minute anxious and almost out of control. I don't have a lot of support and rely on this site to help me. My mother keeps referring to my surgery as "my little diet". She has never had a weight problem. My husband is about 30 lbs. over weight and has decided to make my surgery a contest. I just don't think they get it. Good luck I am sure we will all be just fine. JP

Well that makes three of us. My surgery is Aug. 15 in Indianapolis IN. I am very excited, but a little nervous. I go for my dietary preparation and clinical education on July 9, 2007. I am like you libra I am not sure if all of ducks are in a row. I would like a list of fooods I can have 1,2,3 weeks postop and an exercise plan. Good luck to both of you. JP

I have BC&BS of IL. they required I have a psy. eval, thyroid test, BMI of 40, 100 lbs. over weight and a referral from my Dr. However, I have GERD and double knee replacements. They approved me in 4 weeks. Good luck. JP

UHC called today and said they have approved my surgery. :whoo: I am so excited. I feel very lucky to have two insurance companies. Sure wish I could share with those who do not. My date is Aug. 15 in Indianapolis, IN. I am sure the days will pass quickly. I have an appt. on July 9, 2007 4 hours long. I start the preop diet Aug. 5. I am a little nervous my husband and mother are only some what on board with me having the surgery:think They both fear I will become ill or worse. Wanabthin, I know how you feel. I have been avoiding public places. I feel everyone looks at me. Have a great time on your vacation, if you start feeling blue remind yourself of your Aug. date and smile. Maybe you can logon on your vaation for support from us. Hope to hear from you soon. JP

I got the email today I have a date!!!:whoo:August 15 at 8 am. I felt my stomach flop and I could hardly breath. So much to do so uch to think about. Oh my gosh my boss is going to be so mad I am taking time off. I suppose she will have to get over it. I can hardly wait to be healthy again.

Lorsbander I know exactly how you feel. I have BC&BS of IL. it took them just short of 4 weeks. They were real nice and even called me on my cell before the letter came. My other insurance (primary) UHC still has not replied and like yours has no idea when they might. Stay strong! Good luck to you keep us posted. JP

I asked two different Dr's and they both wrote letters for me. Just ask. If your Dr. turns you down because of belonging to the insurance co. get a new Dr. Best of luck. JP
