  1. What reason did he give you for not placing the referral? You might try talking to him again. I actually poured my heart out in an email to my PCP, that was when he finally agreed to move forward. If you didn't qualify for the surgery I don't think she would have sent you to the overview class (she probably figured you would change your mind). Try again and if she won't budge then consider talking to different doc. I hope this works out for you, I waited for three plus years and just continued to gain weight and become more miserable. Hugs, Shell
  2. I just voted for you as well. Good luck!
  3. My Kaiser PCP in Roseville refused to give me a referral for about three years and then I was finally able to convince him to send me to the overview class. He sent the referral to Richmond, but it was like pulling teeth to get him to do it. I should have just changed Docs untill I found one that would work with me. Any way, I really don't understand why your Doc would send you to the overview class if he/she never intended to send a referral to Richmond. That was a waste of your time and it just got your hopes up for nothing. You can file a complaint with Member Services and/or switch your PCP. I wish you luck and please don't give up, keep pushing forward til you get what you want! Take care, Shell
  4. I have been telling people that I am on a very structured meal plan and excerising daily and it is working for me. As far as attention from the oppisite sex, personally, I know that the men I work with know me well and have known me for many years. That being said, I have had a little extra attention/comments but I choose to just take it as a compliment. Really, the only head that I want to turn is that of my hubby, so that is where I put my focus. Hang in there, the whole "newness" of your wieght loss will fade slowly and things will get back to "business as usual". Hugs, Shell
  5. My weight loss has just recently picked up again after a long stall. I'm down about 3 lbs from last week. I'm hoping this loss will continue, I have a few pairs of size 14 pants in my closet that are calling my name. LOL Ross and Penney's are my new favorite places to shop. I love the clearance racks! Love my sleeve! Hugs, Shell
  6. It really depends on what his program dictates but he could possibly have mashed potatoes & gravy, ham or turkey (chewed well), sweet potatoes, greenbean cassorole. He should definitely eat his Protein first and then maybe some soft veggies (green Beans - no corn), Hope that helped. : ) Shell
  7. I just asked my Surgeon about the flu shot last week and he suggested skipping it this year. I ordered a med alert bracelet before my surgery and I haven't taken it off since I got home from the hospital. It reads, "VSG - No Blind NG Tube". Hope that helps, Shell
  8. I tried the BA Multi and it made me so sick. With the Centrum chewable multi, it takes care of the Iron too. I do take the BA Calcium chewey bites but I am really tired of those as well. This Vitamin thing is definitely tough. Shell
  9. Hi there, I am a fellow Kaiser patient and I too lost weight by following the pre op meal plan. I lost 45 lbs in four months. So, have faith my friend. You can do this! Hugs, Shell
  10. Well, you are 3 days out now, I hope everything went well! I just wanted to say God Bless you and I wish you a speedy recovery. Take care, Shell
  11. I started my period about two days after surgery while still in the hospital (I was about two weeks early). It lasted about 8 to 10 days but I assume that was from the heparin that I received every morning while in the hospital. I believe you are experiencing something very normal, you will be fine, hang in there! Oh, and don't worry. you will poop again in time. Your body is just in shock right now but what goes in must come out eventually. God Bless! Shell
  12. Hey Kelly, I think it is about time you shared some photos with us. Would you be willing to share????? We are all curious and could use some inspiration! Of course, we understand if that is not your thing. <3 Shell
  13. Hi all, I was sleeved August 29th and I have lost 13 pounds since surgery, 58 pounds total including pre op. I am doing good with eating (still on puree stage), I just keep trying to increase my liquids each day. My pain has been very minimal and my energy level is good most of the time. Over all, I feel pretty darn good. I hope everyone else is is feeling good too. Hugs, Shell
  14. Hi, I was sleeved August 29th and suffered from the same insomnia for the first week after coming home. It has gotten better but at least twice a week I find myself up at 3 or 4 AM on the puter or reading a book. This is so unlike me, I slept like a rock before surgery so I don't quite know what to make of it. I know it isn't much help but I just had to share that I am experiencing the same thing. Sucks huh?
  15. Thanks, it still amazes me every day. I can't believe I have shin bones again..lol
  16. Hello all, my surgery was August 29th and I weighed in at 196.2 (lost 45 before surgery). This morning I weighed in at 185.6!!!!! Feeling real good and healing well. I am struggling with Fluid intake but I guess that is normal, I just try to add a few more ounces each day. I hope all is well with everyone else! Have a great day! Shell
  17. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I had mine last Monday and it started out rocky at first but I'm doing really well now. This is a great recipe and I will be shamelessly stealing it for when my "full liquid" stage comes around. Thanks for sharing and may God carry you through your surgery safely! <3 Shell
  18. My Doc was completely against WLS and it took me about three years to convince him to put in a referral for me. I would have appreciated a Doc who was a little more open minded. I'm sure your patient feels better knowing that you care enough to share your personal experience. I know I would have. Thank you for caring! Hugs, Shell
  19. Well, if you were going for the sexy, a little "bad" guy look, it's working for you! Ouch, hurt me! Great job, you look great!
  20. You look great! Go have a blast and rock out! I love Stevie, she's my favorite! I'm jealous.
  21. Wishing you all luck and sending happy thoughts and prayers. I will be joing you next week! God Bless!
  22. Thanks, I hope you are doing well! Prayers coming your way
  23. Please add me for August 29th. Thanks
  24. Welcome to VST and Kaiser Richmond. I attended an overview class at Kaiser Roseville to start and then moved on to the orientation class at Kaiser Richmond. You will be weighed at the orientation and they will use that weight to determine how much the surgeon wants you to lose before surgery. I attended my overview class at the end of April and am now scheduled for surgery on August 29th. I was overjoyed that the whole thing has progressed so quickly, but I dug down deep and kicked butt with my weight loss after the orientation. They really like to see the effort. Congratulations and keep us all updated on your journey. Make sure you let us know who your surgeon will be (they will tell you at the orientation). Hugs Shell
