  1. I feel your pain with the crushed pills!! My doc let me start swallowing them 2 weeks after surgery. Something my hubby thought of was putting the pill in a jello shot so you don't have to taste the nastiness. Worked great for me as I had to take 10 a day those two weeks. Now I'm only on 3 a day. Yayyyy!
  2. Raine replied to a post in a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the hospital for 4 1/2 days but I had some complications in the first two days thats why they kept me. My surgery was on a Wednesday and I went back to work a week and 1/2 later. I work in an office and it was slow going that first week back and had to take naps when I got home everyday for a week but have been great since.
  3. Hope I was being too intrusive, your reason is much better than why I was thinking You do look wonderful!
  4. I had my month post op and the doc says i'm doing great. I feel great and everyone is telling me I am looking great. I am on soft foods now so trying different things. I notice though that I can eat more than most people on here but not too worried. I still cant get in more than 3 oz so thats an indication that it is working. I am on a stall but expected it wouldnt pass me up either so I'm not sweating it too much. Well maybe just a little bit lol. When I was on mushies, for the mashed to add flavor I used a little olive oil and cooked some vidalia onions. OMG it was sooooooooo good. Softs for about a week then I can eat more normal. A little afraid of that because I don't want to over do it but excited at the same time. Just in time for my sisters wedding yayyyy! Hope everyone is doing great too!
  5. You look fantastic! Can I ask a question? Why do you wear the head wrap? Is it because of the hairloss?
  6. I am 4 weeks out and I split it up through out the day. Wake up Protein shake Midmorning at work, greek yogurt lunch bare burito or baked potatoe or I'll have about 3 oz of deli meat and cheese Midafternoon shake or greek yogurt dinner 3oz of what ever meat hubby is making Evening protein shake My issue before was that I ate until I was over full and I am finding that I do the same a little bit now. Not to the point of getting sick but being really full. I still only get in about 3 oz when actually eating food. Gotta work on that.
  7. Sarsar and Renee' so glad you guys are doing ok. It only gets better just keep that in mind Renee'!! How are you doing Sarsar? Best wishes to you both!
  8. I was sleeved on 4/27 and it was the best thing I ever did for my health. I would highly recomend what Kelly said and do your research on both to see which option is best for you. This forum has helped me with all the support and information I have received. I am sure it will help you too. Best of luck!
  9. My doc said that I could have 1 cup of coffee per day now. I was so excited until I had a cup and it tasted terrible. So not addicted to caffeine anymore but I really used to enjoy the taste. Not so much anymore. Maybe it was just an aquired taste. Ohhhh well.
  10. Congratulations on your GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! (use a soccer announcer voice for that! LOL)
  11. I had my 1 month visit yesterday and only lost 3 lbs since my 2 week visit. He told me I was doing great. I told him that the 3 lbs is since the begining of week 3 and he told me about the 3 week stall. I started laughing becuase of course I have READ ALL ABOUT IT! Like everyone said if you are doing low carb you need to up your fat. I have problems with fat so I am doing low fat with more carbs. Mind you that there are two things that I refuse to compromise on when I do do fat and that is butter and mayo. everything else i can live with. That is great about the diabeties. I too have stopped taking my meds for that. Since I started on the mushies and there are more carbs in it, I have had to start a 1/2 dose of the glipizide, but thats ok too because I am on the softs now and its all about the protein. So I expect that to go away again too. Your doc is a jerk to make you feel like that. Just saying. Keep up the great work!
  12. When my pill count went up to 20 a day and I didnt know if I was ill or was experiencing one of the many side effects of the pills. That and a co worker of mine that I have known for 15 years has T2D also and I watched him over the years lose part of his foot, start going blind and is now on dialysis and he is only 4 years older than me. Over the years I had managed to get my weight from 280+ down to an average of 225 but that still didnt stop everything that was going on. I knew the only thing would be if I was able to curb the amount that I ate. Even if I eat bad things later on, I wont be able to eat a lot of it and portion control was my biggest advisary. So now I am sleeved and cant eat a fraction of what I ate before and still get that "full" feeling I loved after eating something great. I love my sleeve! It is saving my life!
  13. I used to beat up the bullies in school. LOL I wouldnt tolerate people picking on me or anyone around me. I have 4 sisters so if I didnt assert myself I probably would have had everything taken from me as a kid . I don't think my attitude will change either, I am who I am skinny or fat who the heck cares, if people like me the like me for me. If people don't like me its because I don't want them to like me hahaha. That being said, I am sure I'll stay the same, just maybe feeling a little more sexier
  14. One of the things that I have always want to do is swing dance but have been too self consious. That is one of my goals I want to swing dance with my husband and for him to be able to throw me around like a rag doll LOL. And lets not forget one of those retro dresses that are so freaking cute from that era as well without it looking like a tent. Another is to see someone I have known who hasnt seen me in a while and for them to NOT recognize me. Doesnt matter who.
  15. I've done it my whole life. Lose weight enough to get compliments and attention and then boooom back to bad habits. I don't know the answer and I'm hoping it doesn't happen again. I am confident that sleeve won't let it happen and that combined with the fact that I recognize it is a big help.
  16. I have the same feeling when I eat one bite too much. Feels like the food just sits there at the base of your throat like a lump. Takes about an hour for everything to feel right again. I made the ricotta bake and it was delish. I ate it as is. As a matter of fact I made it for dinner for the family, and made sausages for hubby and son to have with it. Of course they had bread with it too lol. Thursday I start on soft foods. My doc says the meats are not on the mushie stage and I have been having refried Beans with cheese and a little guacamole and sour cream on the side, mashed potatoes with some ff chicken gravey, oatmeal sometimes. Stuff like that. Hope you feel better.
  17. Gotta love NSV's!!! Congrats!
  18. Renee' I am so happy for you. Please let us know how it goes!
  19. That is the EXACT attitude to be successful. Congratulations and welcome to the losers bench.
  20. Kelly, I never did say congratulations!!! I am very excited for you. With your attitude I know you will do great!!!
  21. I was on 4/27 and I am at the 3 week stall too. Because I know its common from reading about it here I'm not going to sweat it too much.
  22. Failure is not an option! Besides, you are a strong woman and like you said just get back on that wagon and go forward.
  23. When I was in my twenties this was a day of my eating: On the way to the train station stop at the local luncheonette and have 3 eggs bacon home fries large OJ and coffee Then stop at the bagel store and get an onion bagel loaded with butter or cream cheese and eat it on the platform Get to work and go to the cafeteria and have a western omellette with potatoes and coffee Mid morning have a big bag of my choice of chips and munch on them til lunch Lunch time, well what ever I wanted then. Mid afternoon finish off the bag of chips and then also get some sort of cake as a "snack" After work, stop at the hot dog stand and get a hotdog or a knish and eat it before I got back on the train Off the train I would stop at the pizza place and have 2 slices and a large soda Get home and my Dad would have a full dinner waiting for me In the evening I would make dinner and drink plans with my friends and go to a restaurant and have the whole kit and kaboodle, app dinner desert On the way home from that I would stop at the deli and get a 12 inch ham hero with chips and soda. Note that most of my eating was done by myself with no one close to me witnessing. So you see, everyone has their excesses and that is how we all ended up in this situation. That being said I would also look into what ahoy has mentioned just as a precaution. I am now in my 40's and through my 30's curbed a lot of that because I too got every comorbity known to man, to the point of taking 20 pills a day. I was sleeved 3 1/2 weeks ago and started this journey last June at 240. I am happy I did this and let me assure you I have had bouts with the head hunger and your new stomach will not let you eat that much anymore without getting sick. Good luck and keep us posted, this forum is made up of peoplen who truly care about what everyone else is going through and will do their best to help and support.
