Frustrated and need advice
i had a hard time with the pills to in the first couple of weeks. My doc let me swallow them after 2 weeks. Prior to that it was rough doing the whole crushed thing. My hubby came up with an idea, Jello shots! The jello just slides right down your throat so it makes it easier and you don't taste that bitterness of the pill. Hope this helps!

Am I officially The Lowest Loser??
If I'm not mistaken, I think we were sleeved on the same day. I only lost 17 post op and 13 pre op but also lost 34 from last June until the pre op diet. What my ticker doesn't say because I am only going to up date it once a month, is that over the last week and a 1/2 I gained 3 lbs. I know this is because of my carb intake and some Water weight but still it sucks lol. So I am right there with you and know what you are feeling. I'm trying not to sweat it too much because I also know that 61lbs gone forever since last June is still quite an accomplishment and also from what I have read it is expected to have stalls etc. My true accomplishment IMO is that I am off most of my meds (20 pills to 3 a day) and that I feel better now than I have in over a decade. You are doing exactly what your body needs to do and I have no doubt you will get to your goal!

Nothing really seems to be what I WANT to eat???
Try something that you used to not like eating and see how that goes. I used to HATE hummus, I tried the garlic and the roasted red pepper and now it is one of my favorite foods to eat and a good source of Protein too

I think I may be broken :-(
I think you are doing great! I think those of us with a lower BMI and less weight to lose tend to lose it slower. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago and have been in a stall for 3 of those! I'm trying not to sweat it too much because I know it will turn around but it will take time.

Another surgery, so soon? (TMI alert)
I had one on my left ovary when I was pregnant and they had to take it out because it kept growing with all the hormones going on at the time. It was like a fish story with my Doc. LOL

Sleeved May 31st and Feeling Great
Congratulations Kara! I am almost 6 weeks out and where as I do feel the restriction if I over do it, I am able to eat more than most people ... I think lol. Either way, I have had no issues since the hospital and am feeling great. Glad to hear you are doing so well.

Just Getting Started
Hi again, Meg! You are doing the absolute right thing by asking questions, getting advise and doing your research. That is what I did and pretty much everyone on here did. It helps in getting you prepared for what is to happen, how to deal with everything and it gives you over all support as you can see from the responses you have gotten so far. This is a great board for that and if I can help in any way please do not hesitate to ask.

Bleeding
That sounds like a UTI. Do you have a burning sensation when you go? If so contact your doc and get an antibiotic.

Hair Loss
EXACTLY!! My mom always said that if you can't say something nice don't say anyting at all, however, my motto is sometimes nice doesn't apply and constructive criticism is goes a long way in helping people.

Blood sugar :( HELP
Cut your carbs and that will lower your sugar significantly. You are having your surgery next Thursday so why not start a full liquid diet I can tell you it WILL lower your sugars. My full liquid pre op diet consisted of: Breakfast: Atkins low carb/low sugar Protein shake ( I prefer the dark chocolate) Lunch: Fage Greek yogurt blended with skim milk and a crystal light packet ( orange tastes like a creamsicle) Dinner: Atkins low carb/low sugar Protein Shake . In between this if I wanted savory flavor I would do a beef broth and drank lots of different flavored diet drinks (No soda) to keep me constantly full and unfortunately lol constantly going to the ladies room. This gave me around the 60 grams of protein they wanted me on and also prepared me for the liquid and full diet post op. Does it work? You bet your buns it did. My sugars prior to the diet were 200- 250 in the morning and 300-400 in the evening and I was on 1000mg Metphormine 2x a day AND 10mg of Glipizide 2x a day. The morning of surgery my sugar was 77. I now take a 1/2 of a Glipizide pill with Breakfast and a 1/2 with dinner. My levels are now normal. I expect that as I lose more weight I will not even need the 1/2 and 1/2. Good luck. I hope this works for you.

How soon did you start w/ soft foods?
Seems they all have their own plans. My doc was pretty strict with a 2 week rule for everything, 2 weeks pre op diet, 2 weeks full liquid diet post op, 2 week mushy stage, and now on the 2 week soft food stage.

Hardest habits to break/adopt
What was the hardest habit for you to break? Giving up coffee and Diet Mt. Dew. LOL loved my caffeine. Now that I am allowed a cup of coffee a day, my taste buds revolted and I no longer like the taste, go figure. What was the hardest habit for you to adopt? Chewing a million times before swallowing and making my meal last 30-45 minutes. I still am having issues with that and I am 6 weeks post op now. But try try again!

Hair Loss
Yes you are allowed to freak out and everyone goes through a freak out here or there big and small. To those that were being mean, get over it. She is doing what needs to be done and if you can't give constuctive criticism rather than calling names then you shouldn't say anything at all.

Week 12 pics!!!
Ok, so I think you will need to get a new bathing suit soon It truly shows the difference especially on how the skirt sits between the three shots... Shot one, I thought the skirt was a V shape and in shot 2 and 3 well I see that is not. Also, where as in shot 1 and 2, your booty is peaking through and in shot 3 well girl it got a little camera shy!! You can also see clearly how much your tum tum has gone down! Way to go you are really doing great! Congratulations!

75 pounds!
I agree with you about people being jealous if they are heavy too. They do see that you are doing what they want to do and haven't been able to or haven't come to the life changing decision to do so. So never mind them, they will see it but probably won't say anything until it seems rude not to LOL. I also think the second is true too, a lot of people that aren't heavy don't know what to say when they see that kind of weight loss. Great job and keep up the good work!

Progress - 5 Months

Informal Introduction
I can believe that. Dr. V is a wonderful surgeon and person, but you are right the staff is a bit disorganized at times. I actually waited in the waiting room for 45 min one time without anyone telling me an ETA. Told the girls up front I had to go back to work and needed to know when he would be ready, they said not for at least a half hour. I told them to reschedule me and left.

Why I made this group "Private"
Nah, doesn't bother me a bit. You want to make sure that the people that do join are from NC so that it stays true to its name.
