  1. HI Tiff, I take the UpCal D powder and I love it. It comes in individual packs that I can just put in a bottle of water and it has NO flavor. I usually put a Propel flavor pack in at the same time. (Just because I'm starting to get sick of plain water). It does feel a little grainy especially when you get towards the end of the bottle. So far I've also put it in greek yogurt and potato soup and again no flavor just grainy.
  2. WOOHOO! Congrats! You'll do wonderful, keep us posted!
  3. The Unjury brand chicken soup is considered clear liquid and tastes very good, satisfying and has 20 grams of protein. My first day post op they gave me 3 of these in the hospital and I managed to get 2 1/2 down throughout the whole day. I've been drinking them now even on the full liquid diet. My NUT and Dr said these also count as you fluid for the day too. That makes it easier to get everything in because if you have 3 throughout the day you get 60grams of protein and 1/3 of the fluid requirements. I already have thin hair due to PCOS and I had told my Dr about my concern about losing more. He said if I keep up on my protein and vitamins that it will help reduce the amount that I will lose. That's why I've been trying to find ways to get the most of what goes into my tiny tummy. Kelli
  4. Hi, I just had my sleeve on the 16th and was able to come home tonight. I'm still in a LOT of pain in my belly and my back. I'm not sure if the back pain is from laying in the hospital bed so much, or just from using different muscles since my abs hurt so much. i don't think it's gas pain since it's more of an all over pain. I still have to bend over slightly when I walk and it takes me forever to get up out of a chair or the bed. I got my JP tube out today. I must say I worried about this all day and to my suprise it wasn't the end of the world! Mine was attached to my skin with a stitch and when the RN snipped the stitch I was soooo nervous because I knew what was next. I had made the mistake of asking her how long the tube part inside me was, she said it was about 12 inches long! Once the dried blood comes loose of the little bit of skin it's attached to it's not bad. So please all of you that are worrying, don't worry too much. It's hard to describe how it feels but the best I can come up with is that you can feel it move deep inside, almost like gas moving thru your tummy or intestines. It's that same feeling. The anxiety is the worst part of it. I've been sipping on powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth, I try to have 3 of those a day to get my Protein in. Those seem to go down the best for me, I think since it's warm and watery. I tried drinking a shake made with soy milk but could only get about 2 oz down.. with the broth i can get about 6 oz down over about an hour. Other than that, since I'm on full liquids now I have had some sugar free pudding, cream of wheat w/ splenda, tomato Soup and potatoe soup. I have 3 inscions plug the jp hole. Which was suprising bc I thought I would have 5 or 6. I'm just hoping the next few days things get better.. I'm not a fan of the pain!! Congrats to all of the other sleevers!! WOOHOO we did it!!! ~Kelli
  5. I ordered UpCal-D online which is what my NUT suggested. It's 500mg calcium citrate and vit-D, comes in a single serving powder. It's completly tasteless but it is a little grainy. I just put it in my bottle of Water and it works perfect. For my mulit-vit I take the Centrum chewables. They remind me of flinstone Vitamins I took when I was a kid and they are just as nasty as I remember BUT luckly they don't have a huge lingering aftertaste. I've been worried about how I'm going to take all my pills after surgery... since I won't be able to take a big gulp. I guess I'll found out soon enough tomorrow is the "big day".
  6. Good luck tomorrow!!! I'm getting it done tuesday at 1:30!! We'll have to keep in contact!
  7. Hey Thanks everyone... It's good to know i'm not the only one. Only a couple more days!!! WOOTWOOT Please keep us all posted! I'll post as soon as I'm able to, I wonder if I can take my laptop to the hospital?
  8. Hi Melinda, Congrats on this journey! You'll be suprised how fast your surgery date will come. This is a great site to join! Kelli
  9. Hi just looking for some fellow 16th (or close) sleevers. Our countdown is on!! I'm nervous, excited and scared of how much pain it's going to be.. I'm going back and forth in my head should I do this? Can I do this? Can i follow my plan and get to my goal? I can't remember what it's like to be thin... it's been since highschool. I know i'm not going to back out since i've already dished out the $4000 max out of pocket that my insurance requires. Anyone else having these feelings? thanks- Kellli :/
  10. Hi, Congrats. I'm also getting sleeved on Nov 16. I'm starting to freak out. I'm really nervous. Up until today it wasn't bad but the closer it gets.... I guess I'll just try to keep thinking positive. Kelli
  11. I told my immediate family about my sleeve. I'm building up my story at work that my "peptic ulcers" are bad and I am having part of my stomach removed. I don't think it's any of their business, they are all a bunch of gossipers. I've only been there 6 months so I'm not really close to them yet. The Ulcer surgery story works perfectly. I can talk freely to them about my pre op liquid diet and talk about how I'm so scared of the surgery but am happy about all the weight I'm going to lose. I know lying is bad but if it prevents me from being the latest "omg" news, i'll do it. I'm going with the flu story during Thanksgiving at my inlaws, because at that time Ill just be on full liquids. That should be fun,
  12. Mine says 6-8 weeks.
  13. I had my pre ops tests today and also met with the NUT, she made the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup for me to try and also let me try some grape Isopure. I must say the chicken flavored soup was SO good. It didn't have that "proteiny" taste and it was such a nice change from all of the sweet flavors. I bought 2 tubs of it today! One serving has 21 Proteins and only 90 calories, 0 fats and 1 carb. I think they sell samples on their website. The grape Isopure was pretty good too. Good luck Fleur, I hope you find something that works for you and also congrats on your progress!!
  14. Tonight was my last supper... had my favorite Mexican meal.. vegetarian chimichinga, cheese dip and chips & salsa. Mmm mmm. Starting my liquid diet tomorrow and surgery on Nov 16th. I can't believe this is actually happening!
  15. OK, silly question... The gas pains everyone talks about... Is it gas in you stomach and like it hurts to burp? Or is it coming out the other end? Or is it the gas they pump into you abdomen?
  16. My psych exam was 3 hours. I had to take a personality test, an IQ test and talk with the psych. He asked questions about my weight history, what I've done to try to loss weight, my sleep habits and if I will have people to support me after the surgery. I think the main reason for the exam is to see if you are doing this for yourself and your health. I thought it was pretty interesting, I thought it was a little strange for the IQ test but I've always wanted to take one anyway. Don't be nervous though, just remember they are there to help you.
  17. Hey thanks everyone! I guess i asked that since I'm about 3 weeks pre op and just thinking this is probably my last pizza I'll have. It's okay though I'm excited and so ready!!
  18. I know you get full and can't take another bite... BUT does it feel the same as it did pre-op? Like after you eat 1 piece of pizza does it feel like you just ate a whole pizza. I guess I'm just worried that I won't get that stuffed feeling. Maybe (and hopefully!) it won't even be a big deal to me after surgery.. thanks!
  19. I am the same way! Which is why I hate getting my picture taken, because that's when I can see just how huge I am. Especially when I'm standing next to other people who are a normal size. Or I'll be at work feeling good thinking that I look good today then I see myself in the mirrror and think OMG I lookso fat and horrible. I cannot WAIT to actually look like what my brain thinks I look like. Sometimes when I'm out with my mom, I'll be like "Mom, am I as huge as that girl?" because I want to know how others see me. I'm getting sleeved Nov 16th and when it all was approved and finally became a reality I was SO nervous and having second thoughts but now that I've got it thru my head that YES it's going to hurt, and YES it's going to change my life, I'm cool with that. Now I can just concentrate on preparing myself and quit stressing myself. I am going to take my before pics next week, not really looking forward to it but I know I will want to see the changes that have happened in the next few months. And I always love looking at other peoples b/a pics.
  20. Thanks Everyone! Even better news... My date was 11/30 now it's 11/16 !!! 8-)
  21. That's awesome! Congrats! I just got approved yesterday, my date is Nov 30th. I know how you're feeling!! Yeaaay!
  22. Hey guys I was approved today!! Hoooraaaay! Surgery date 11/16/10 Thanks Tiffy for giving me an idea for the letter, I really think that helped! Thank u everyone!~~
