sounds daft, but I have a bad cold... what meds can I take?
Knock yourself out with sleeping pills for 3 days and wake up then when the worst is over? ugh... j/k obviously. Mucinex makes a child's version in a little "fastmelts" package. You just put them on your tongue and they dissolve. Mucinex works best for congestion, so that's why that's my first thought, though I wonder if it will irritate your stomach? I'd also say get a 12-hour thing to knock you out at night. sleep will be the best thing. My doc. gives me Tussi-12. It's a small pill.. cough thing mostly but also has antihistimine that knocks me out. Not sure what else you can do except the obvious TONS of Water and fluids. Feel better!!!

BM problems?
I'm having the same problem. I hate to admit this, but I haven't gone since my surgery morning either, and that was 9/20. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks!!!! yikes. I am going to send a message to my nurse and see what she says. I have been taking some fiber gummies, thinking the fiber would help, but nothing's happening yet.

September sleevers wanted!
I don't know. I might give it another try and mix it like you did. I've been having a bit of nausea yesterday and today, though now it seems to have passed. This sure is confusing, that's for sure.... relearning what and how to eat! Glad you're having a good day!

3 days post op with terrible colics....
I could barely drink anything on my 3rd day. Got a little better on the 4th and then 5th. I didn't really start monitoring my fluid intake until Day 6 or 7 and pushed for 60oz. The first week my goal was: keep sipping and try to increase fluids gradually each day.

Nausea
I'm still having nausea after anytime I eat a puree item. I felt good this morning waking up, had my clear protein shot/crystal light. Felt good up until lunchtime, decided to try a pudding. It was a smooth yoplait thing, seemed okay. I felt uncomfortable about halfway through it so figured I was full, put the rest away. Now since then I've had awful nausea. Am I eating too much? Or am I just maybe not ready for purees? I am Day 13 post-op. Stay on liquids a little while longer? Ugh, I hate the nausea feeling. Help!

On to pureed foods, need recommendations.
I personally am struggling with purees. Today I went back to clears for the morning and just now tried a yogurt. I think yogurt is the easiest thing to start with. I just have some nausea and uncomfortableness, so I 'm taking it really slow. I use toddler spoons also. Seems to help with smaller bites and eating slowly. I tried mashed potatoes and couldn't do it. I tried a spoon of peanut butter (which may not be a puree and may be my fault) and that wasn't good. Anyone else struggle with purees? Maybe just not ready and back to a few days of liquids?

I need to hurry and get back to work bc I have too much time on my hands!
Cool idea!!!

I've been having crystal light lemonade since my first day home. I put my Protein shots in it to help with the flavor. Good luck!

What is WRONG WITH ME???
I made this awesome broccoli potato soup today.. just pureed it and everything. Dished myself a 1/4 cup in a small dish. One sip.. kinda done with it. I agree. Do NOT feel like eating at all! Feel Like I should go back to clear liquids, I felt better! lol... Stomach just feels WEIRD! icky. how do we get our nutrition in if we're like this?
-
how do you get your protein in?
other than shakes... do you have any tips to share for getting in enough protein during the day? (esp. when it's hard to eat a lot!)

What is WRONG WITH ME???
I think for many of us food is our "best friend" for so long. Of course we're in mourning. I'm trying to think of it like a loss. And I think TIME will help. I'm so glad you're having a better day today! We're all here next time you need pepping up again!

food replacement
I've been posting nonstop in this forum!! Same as chilo! LOL!!! I'm trying to start to DO things like more active.. now that I'm feeling better. Incisions still tender though, so I'm not ready to climb a mountain! I'm a teacher and home on a medical leave, so I'm enjoying the time just being home and spending a little extra time with my young little guy. (My oldest is in school all day) Also have discovered that the only daytime I can stand is the Rachel Ray show, and even then... sometimes I have to turn her off. I DID get some great recipes that I noted for future entertaining! DId you know Let's Make a Deal is on during the day, hosted by Wayne Brady??? Go figure!!! Whacky show... (I dont' have all the other cable channels.. just the basics!)

Weird Dreams
LOL at your dream! I had and still am having WEIRD dreams! I attributed it to the trama of surgery and the pain pills, which I still take one at night. About 4th or 5th night post-op, when I actually slept long enough TO dream... lol... I dreamed that I was eating these giant sugary cream donuts, one after another, like tons of them. I woke up and thought... wow nightmare!

coffee ???
I have a feeling my tastes have really changed.. for everything. I'm excited about it! I hope I magically HATE ice cream now!

Bloody Nose
blood thinner? Did you get a blood thinner during surgery? I was still shooting myself with shots of lovenox two days ago, I had to be on a blood thinner for 10 days post-op. It's to prevent blood clots. Maybe that had to do with it?

Itching!!
oh yeah I had some redness and rash type thing from certain tape. I bought something called comfort tape.. I think that's it... just in the aisle at the grocery store, and it's like a mesh fabric tape. Much better for me. I'm down to just a small bandage over the hole where my drain was. (eek!) but yeah I couldn't stand that other tape. They gave me nylon and plastic. The plastic worked but gave me irritation. The nylon didn't bother me, but didn't work! lol...

I'm offically sleeved
Yay!!!! Congrats on feeling so good!

having my 1st "trouble" with something I ate
good idea. I bought a big bag of potatoes to make a broccoli/potato soup I have a great recipe for. Got me through after my lapband surgery. I think it would be good for now too. I will try mashed potatoes in a few days.. with the real thing. Not the box. I have to say the potato buds were surprisingly good. I used to turn my nose up to boxed mashed! lol... in a pinch.. not bad.
-
coffee ???
I feel not in the mood today for coffee. Interesting how I used to have to have it asap after waking up in the morning. I agree about feeling cleansed and wanting to stay feeling so good, not bogging myself down with a lot of fats, sugars, caffeine. Wonder if I'll feel the same way when it's time to take a drink of nice chianti?

having my 1st "trouble" with something I ate
thanks guys... I walked around a bit and folded some laundry. the bad feeling did pass after an hour or two, but even going to bed, I was just not feeling super comfortable. I will wait on mashed potatoes a few days to try again, and I will make them milkier and smoother. This morning I'll stick to a shake for Breakfast. Feeling good today and hungry... AND I HIT 20 LBS DOWN ON THE SCALE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (so much for me staying off the scale a while.... lol....)

Peanut Butter - Chocolate protein powder?
one word... REESE'S!

Magic Bullet
get it girls. it's cheap enough that even if you don't like it... not a huge waste of purchase. it IS loud, like a blender or something, but it whips up your shake in 10 seconds. If you add ice, you'll hear the ice being chopped up, and that will be loud. no biggie though, don't worry. my biggest complaint is I have a hard time unscrewing it after mixing! anyone have a tip? I screw it on nice and tight so it doesn't leak, but then when it's done, I can't get it off! lol! I have one of those rubber gripper things to help open jars, and I usually have to use that. i'm making my first chocolate protein shake this morning for breakfast in my mb!

Itching!!
yeah! I try to just scratch around it. I'm too scared to remove any steristrip or scratch right on the incision yikes. Around my one big incision, I bruised horribly, I mean so dark purple its almost black. My nurse told me to break open a vitamin E gelpill and rub it on there. I have heard of that before. I went ahead and got some and am trying it. My stomach has looked like a warzone with all the bruises! I was on 10 days post-op lovenox shots in the belly, so I have little (and some big) bruises all over my lower belly "roll" lol. Plus my incisions, plus the bruising around those. Oh yeah and a big hole where the drain was. Warzone.. I'm telling ya. Did you guys all take pics of your bellies as you were healing? I've been taking pics, though I don't know if I'll ever show anyone. lol...

having my 1st "trouble" with something I ate
Mixed up some instant mashed potatoes, and maybe they weren't liquidy enough? I am not feeling well. Just kinda feel like a heavy feeling in my stomach since I had them. Didn't eat that much, but the consistency was not liquid enough, I think. Ugh.. feels yuk. How long til it goes away? Anyone? Should I drink something or no? :thumbup1:
