  1. Melissa, I was the SAME way, and yes it went away. I remember the first night I slept 5 straight hours! Then same the next night, then 6, then last night I slept a full night. Beginning was awful. Day 3.. hmmm that was my first day home from hospital. I slept an hour, woke up, slept an hour, woke up. Awful. Then the next day, I slept 3 hours, woke up for a pain pill, slept 3 hours, etc.. gets better and better I promise.
  2. Thanks girls!! Good luck with getting out of that stall. Hate those. I'm going to go back and read that article. Thanks! Yes, got the drain out yesterday at my post-op appt. That was Day 10. I KNOW! Everyone else I've read has it 3 days, 6 days, 5 days... weren't I lucky! Getting that thing removed was about the freakiest thing EVER. Nothing like feeling tubing moving through your insides! EEEK! I'm shivering just thinking about it. LOL! Got cleared to move on to purees/stage 2... so I stocked up on creamy yogurts, creamy soups, puddings, etc.... also mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, etc. I'm just excited for variety. Today I tried cream of wheat.. didn't really like it. (I'm an oatmeal girl) and I really couldn't even eat the 1/4 cup I scooped out for myself. For lunch I heated up one of the Campbell's soup at hand micro. creamy tomoato soups. Love those. Used to be able to gulp it down in 2 minutes, voila lunch over. I started sipping, and while it was hearty and delicious... I got so full and even took one sip too much and felt uncomfortable. It's a little over halfway done. Just sat it on the counter and walked away. Weird. I guess I'll be wasting a lot of food. Better down the drain than turning into fat on my body, I say. So yes, taking it slow and being super careful. I am just ecstatic and ready to take this thing and go!!!!! Good job everyone! Check in! Only one more day of September left, any surgeries tomorrow?
  3. Good for you Becca!!! I cannot WAIT for one of my kiddies to hug me and wrap their arms entirely around me!!!
  4. lol! you're better than me. i tried some cream of wheat this morning. not only could i barely eat any because i got full. but I really didn't like it! i grew up on oatmeal. that cream of wheat was kinda nasty to me. lol!! i know what you mean though. I was SO excited over my yogurt. kinda funny
  5. I keep telling myself that there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing that scale go down, and feeling my clothes loose and seeing myself in the mirror. NOTHING. I agree.. I just had one of my favorites... creamy tomato Soup... couldn't even finish it and it even tasted kinda different. I was like eh.. But I don't care! I'm glad! I want this! And I'd give up food for all of the other positive things that are going to come from my weightloss. I know I'll have a low moment, but I am going to try to remember these feelings when that happens. Try to find a way to celebrate you weight loss! you've done great so far! Facial? Pedicure? Something nonfood! Good luck
  6. I could have written that. I also couldn't pee.. from the anesthesia. So, I had to be straight-cathed TWICE just so I could pee. Add that to all of that unpleasant. Sounds similar to yours actually. On wednesday when I got home, I went right into my bed. I of course couldn't get comfy, and I was crazy restless, just walkin from the chair to the bed, to the other chair, didn't iknow what to do with myself. Slept horrible the first night. On Thursday, I took a shower. From then on... it got better. Started sipping. Starting Protein shot over ice mixed with lemonade, sipping sipping tiny sips to get it in. Took a nap or two, rested. Friday tons better, Saturday, SUnday, etc, etc... now I'm on Day 11 and I cannot BELIEVE the difference. Personally.. . people who have it on a Friday and go to work on a Monday? No way. REally? I don't believe it, and that sure as hell couldn't have been me. I wish you an easy night tonight and I hope you continue to feel better and better. Sip slowly. Just pour a protein shot into something tolerable (crystal light lemonade helped me) and keep sipping it. Good luck and feel better! (Man a week ago.. I was on here begging for people to help me feel better, now I'm wishing other new post-ops that! I can't believe how far I've come, and you won't believe it either!)
  7. I used to drink one cup of coffee in the morning. I stopped of course to prepare for surgery and also the clear liquid stage post-op. I was cleared to move onto to all liquids and purees yesterday, so of course I asked about coffee. I decided to go to decaf, because I am feeling so good with all the crap (sugar, fat, alcohol, caffeine) out of my system, I figure why start up again? So I'm doing 1 cup of decaf in the morning. I have a Keurig, so I am using the breakfast blend decap. I use sugar free Coffeemate french vanilla from the dairy aisle. I also put in 1/2 scoop of unflavored
  8. thanks! I have read a few of your other posts. I say just take it slooooooow and easy. I was cleared to move on to purees, so I am VERY excited about that. I enjoyed 3oz of vanilla yogurt earlier and just finished the other 3oz. THRILLED to be trying new varieties, but I am going to be very cautious. He took the drain out.... OMG freakiest weirdest feeling ever. All seems good. I go back in another week. Down 13 pounds on his scale!! yahoo!
  9. I am Day 10 today and at my appt. was cleared to move onto this stage as well. They call it the "puree" stage. Smooth puree. Cream of wheat, pudding, yogurt (with no chunks of fruit), scrambled eggs, mashed potato... same thing! We went right to the grocery store. I had a half a vanilla yogurt on the way home (got full) and it was the best vanilla yogurt I've eaten EVER! LOL! 10 days of chicken broth and overly sweet protein shots??? Ahhh!
  10. Good morning everyone! Wow, I sleep better and better every night. What a relief.. getting some REAL sleep back in my life. Today's my visit to the surgeon for 1st check-up since leaving hospital. Getting JP drain out.. thank GOD! I have my little list of questions. Feeling pretty good. How's everyone? How many days out are you now, and what are you eating? I'm still on Clear liquids for a few more days. Started to get antsy last night and officially starting seeking out new things I could have.... trying to be patient! I have lost 16 lbs. since surgery! Yes! This is Day 10 for me. Can't believe it's behind me! When's everyone see their surgeon again post-op?
  11. Well Dave, look at it this way. You can take it to work, traveling, inlaws house, wherever! It's very portable and small and easy to pack up and go... take your protein powder, a thing of milk, and you at least have protein shakes to fall back on if you're stuck. Have fun using it!
  12. I was getting pepcid through my IV and confused about why. I'm going to ask him today at my appt. if I should be taking something regularly. I plan on starting back on my creamy tomato Soup on Sunday, and I don't want any issues! I hope you got some sleep and felt better!
  13. oregon.. i just posted a thread about that last night! funny! yeah... its nice to feel like we're actually eating "real" food!
  14. hmmm... like chocolate flavored whey protein, mixed with water? not sure. I'm only doing the protein shots so far on all clears, and when I go to purees/full liquids next week, I'm going to start with my choc. whey protein in milk. what's been holding me back from using my choc protein powder is not being able to have milk. never thought of mixing the choc. with water. not sure I'd like that. I've learned that the clear stage is VERY boring and gets very old after a while. Ugh... 4 more days of it for me!
  15. definitely true. every new food is "trial and error" how much, how small of bites, am i full now? i think I feel full... am I not? lol... never put so much thought into eating a few spoons of food.
  16. thanks! yeah I have a very good setup program with examples, but I guess the two phases.. full liquids and mushies are sorta getting blended together for me. I understand a little better, thanks for your other reply!
  17. Ooh that helps, thanks! I'll know what to add first. I'm pretty cautious about moving ahead, but I sure am sick of clear liquids now. I'd love a sf pudding! ha!
  18. Tiffy maybe you can help me. You are SO good at explaining stuff! I have stage 1 Clear liquids, stage 2 purees and then stage 3 a little less pureed. That's how I wrote it down and what I got from my bariatric nurse and class. What is the difference between 2 and 3? Which one of those is considered "mushies?" Is it mushy food with no chunks on stage 2 and mushy food with some chunks on stage 3? Where does that ricotta bake recipe fall? Thanks! I'm spending time reading on here and getting more confused about these two stages. I know I'm sure anxious to get to Sunday/stage 2!!
  19. Okay I came to look this up and also will give it a try!! I don't know the difference between mushy or soft either.. I need help! I need to go track down tiffykins! lol!!! Thanks!!
  20. I love mine, but I think if you have something that does the same thing, go with that! I like it most for protein shakes!
  21. there's also something called PB2 which is like a powdered peanut butter. I add it to my chocolate whey protein for choc PB shakes. Google it... Bell Plantation is the company that makes it I think.

I sneak a half a scoop into my coffee in the morning with my sugarfree coffemate creamer. I also use a scoop in my fruit smoothies! These are the only two times I use the unflavored, and I NEVER smell it! (I keep my nose away)
  23. Really? No chunks until when? Stage 3?
