  1. I don't believe there's anything you can do but plastic surgery. I do think it will firm up after some time but never go back to the way it would look on someone who was never obese. I've seen some people who are young or who only have about 60-80 lbs to lose. Their skin bounces back. Mine...not so much.
  2. I could not before but now I have Jumped in feet first and took a rowing (skulling) class. I wasn't the fattest person or worried about tipping the boat. Also took a hooping class and loved it I take baths all the time because my WHOLE body goes underwater and doesn't touch the sides at all I shave everything a lot more, it's easier to reach and isn't a hassle I cross my legs all the time, it's just comfortable, and they fold over eachother perfectly I am not nervous about meeting new people, I go out a lot, talk to strangers. I don't feel the need to be so confrontational or loud. I meet people's eyes and smile a lot I love shopping I buy clothes online because everything looks good on me where as nothing used to I don't mind being in pictures anymore I will never wear a swimsuit without issue. My skin hasn't bounced back and it probably never will. I will need surgery for that. That was one of my dreams but it's okay. If I do have surgery i'll have breast aug and tummy tuck so my thighs and arms will still be a mess. Oh well
  3. Here's what I do. I don't bring crap in the house. I portion out my foods, eat until I'm full and then throw the rest away asap. I do NOT count calories, I do not journal my food. I am trying to teach myself to eat when I'm hungry, not at set times, and to not eat when it's out of boredom or to deal with feelings. It sounds like you are emotionally eating. Stay off the scale for a few days if you need to but get your mind in a healthy loving place.
  4. If I can add a little recipe to your thread here. If you like chicken wings you can eat this during the mushy phase. Take chicken meat and cook it in a crockpot in chicken broth for 6 hours on med/high until it falls apart with fork. (you can skip this step by just getting rotssory (sp) chicken from the store) Take 1 part butter and 1 part hot sauce and sautee in a sauce pan for about 1 minutes stirring. Pour over the shredded chicken and top with bluecheese or ranch. If you are on mushy stage cook the chicken even longer.
  5. My phone worked but I think I was charged extra. See about getting skype if you are bringing a lap top. If you give the nurses a number to call I just know that they would. They are so kind and sweet and they will do ANYTHING to help you out.
  6. Watch him close for blood clots so soon after surgery you might even ask Dr about a blood thinner. Other than that I felt fine however you may want to put it off a month just to be sure.
  7. My Vit D has always been low since the surgery other than that everything has been fine. She wants my good cholesterol up and bad down but it was low/high before surgery and has since improved.
  8. Oh Hey, how did I miss this topic? Hi y'all!
  9. Have you contacted Dr Aceves? I've read this same problem before a few times and it ends up being trapped gas usually. Is the pain constant? When you breath in and out? Anything you do gives relief? <hugs:>
  10. Start by making sure you are eating enough protein and veggies. Pregnancy and miscarriage is hard on a body and soul. Take care of yourself first and foremost. <hugs>
  11. I stopped about 10 months out. I still get reflux sometimes but I follow certain rules for myself: No eating or drinking 1-2 hours before bed. No laying down after eating/drinking Don't over eat so that acid bubbles up in your throat.
  12. Yep lost about 1/2 my hair and it's just now coming back. I'm 14 months out today. It's still very thin but to be honest I never have taken vitamins but I just started this week.
  13. You are speaking from what? Certainly not experience in the medical field or from having surgery in Mexico so from what I wonder.
  14. I've seen you pretty much bashing Drs from Mexico in a few post now and sadly you are very uninformed. I was a nursing student for 3 years here in the US and I NEVER saw such a well run, clean facility as I did Mexico with Dr Aceves. There have been plenty of reports of bad US doctors, in fact when I was trying to decide who would do my surgery every single Dr I spoke with here in the US aside from one in Cali had a leak rate around 2-4% while Dr A hasn't ever had a leak. One Surgeon was run out of Nashville because of malpractice and is now in AZ. Now Dr Alamanza has had plenty of negitive stories. For the poster who said that Dr Alamanza hasn't lost anyone, I'd love to know where they got that info from. Before this board was switched over there were pages among pages of info about him that is now lost. If I were to do it all over again and I was given the choice of a surgeon here for 1.5k (my deductible) or surgery in Mexico at 8750+expenses I'd still go to Dr Aceves.
  15. Guess who just bought her first pair of size 6 jeans? THIS GIRL! I'm so excited! I went to Marshalls last night to find some shoes but I had to try on at least 16 outfits first and a few bras (more on that later). I was specifically looking for a pair of skinny jeans so I could wear my boots with them. I grabbed 1 pair of 6s and 4 pairs of 8s. One pair of the 6s from the Limited was so tight but dangit I sucked in and buttoned those suckers. The 8s were all too big except for one pair so I tried them on again. They fit everywhere but had a little stretch to them. I was thinking maybe they were a 9-10 and I was going to see if I could find the same cut in a smaller size but NOPE upon reading the tag in the pants, instead of the little plastic piece on the hanger I find they are a 6! ME? A 6! Hells yeah! This is the size I always said I didn't want to be. You know...that crap that spills out of your mouth when you deny wanting to be skinny? "I'm going trying all the deserts. I never wanted to be a size 6 anyway!" Size 6 was me saying that the person was probably anorexic and way too thin. It was a word to describe a size I couldn't ever fathom myself being. Here I am though! I'm at 158.6lbs down from 282 (highest) or 271 (surgery weight). I'm 3.6 lbs from being "normal" and 8.6 lbs from goal weight. I'm so excited! I'm now looking for plastics. #1 Tummy tuck panni removal #2 Boob job! Speaking of boobs...had to find a new bra last night. Preop bra was 44/42 E/F depending on bra and now I'm 36 C/D depending on bra again. The thing is, there's no filler just skin. I could fill in for National Geographic photos for real. I need to find a bra with a little push up at the bottom but still doesn't have me spilling/puckering out the top or sides. Getting my hair dyed on Saturday and going to an "ugly christmas sweater" part that night. I'll be sure to post lots of pics as my avatar was 16lbs heavier than I am now. BTW got out of Marshalls with 1 bra, 2 sweaters, a pair of jeans, 2 sexy undies (you're welcome hubby), and a godiva dark chocolate bar for under 70 bucks. SCREW YOU LANE BRYANT!
  16. I have the same shape just smaller. I had a big tummy before and I still do compared to the rest of me. Some of the skin has settled in my hip region and actually looks pretty good with clothes on
  17. Dr Aceves is 8750 and that includes everythign except your airfare. He's the best surgeon in the world IMO.
  18. I started researching band in May and that same day I decided on sleeve. I continued to call surgeons for the next two months, tried to get insruance to cover it and after MUCH research I decided on Dr Aceves. I then started working on how in the world I was going to pay for it. I got a loan in early September, booked my surgery and had it October 8th 2010.
  19. Really? Will pay for all that? What insurance do you have and how do you get an augmentation covered?
