That's the sweetest thing ever! I'm so happy for you guys! Now if everyone else's man or woman felt like that then it wouldn't be that much pressure. For my case I don't want to be saggy for myself although I do care what my boyfriend thinks of me I dont want to be saggy for me. I'm having surgery for me.

I must be a rebel but I take potato Soup, thin it out with Water and add some cheese to the top. Pop it in the microwave and Im good to go. My doc allows creamed Soups on stage 1. So far so good. I stepped on the scale this morning and I have lost 11 pounds. Surgery was 2/3/14!

I actually don't mind the taste of the boost! I get the chocolate kind. They offer two. One with the green cap offers a lot more Protein than the red cap, which is what I have right now. It tastes almost exactly like the chocolate milk they offer at high school lunches. The vanilla though is something you should stay away from

I was debating trying potato Soup but thought it may be too thick. broth and sour cream sounds interesting. Did you use chicken broth?
If I get my 60g Protein in today then I will give the potato soup a try!

I am glad you guys are questioning the 6 month doctor comment. I wonder where these guys get this stuff sometimes. My surgeon was one of the best, worked at a center of excellence, studied at the best bariatric center in America. Words like that never came out of his mouth.
I lost well the first 6 months but lost nearly as much the second 6 months. I never have sweated stalls. I figured they were scientifically doomed. I was right. They were just a curiosity to me.

MissMac well said, I believe my Dr said if you loose 11lbs with in th eyear you have done really well with your sleeve, so sweet one dont get discouraged on what the doctor is saying he wants to encourage you to do your best and start exercising then start exercise too. Remember this is a new begining for you so do your best and that's all you can ask for!.

Tamik78 got a reaction from BigRy84 in So im on my 5th day of liquids...
Confession: When I was on a my 14 day pre-op liquid diet, I did have actual food. If I was so very hungry I would eat one of those tuna packs or at night I have had a grilled chicken breast about 3 times in the 2 week period. I only lost a few pounds before my surgery which was 3 days ago. My "cheating" didn't seem to affect my surgery outcome. But, you really should do as I say and not as I do...follow your doctor. You don't want him cutting into your stomach and finding chicken in there. That may postpone things.

MsShuggggg -- my starting weight was 267.2, and I'm now 211.6, so 55.6 pound loss. In was sleeved on 12/03/13. I was in a tight 26 and I'm now in a 14/16. Here's a pic of the pants I wore to my surgical consult (26) behind a pair I wore this week (14).

About failing the sleeve after six months....that's bizarre. My surgeon told me to expect my loss of 100 pounds to take about a year. He would like to see me lose 10% per month, which is 10 pounds. So far I have lost 42 pounds since starting my supervised program last September. That's 42 pounds that I would not have lost otherwise. So, don't let his comment about six months stress you out. EVERY pound you lose is a victory.

when the doc says 'its a fail' it doesn't literally mean the sleeve failed. It means you haven't fallen into the average norm of statistics of patients who lose 60-65% of their excess weight in such time frame.

Everything looks and sounds good but of course I don't eat it. I do however get kinda moody and cranky about it. Also my side and main incision hurt when I bend over and I still take a few pain pills a day

Ok so when I checked in at the hospital, they did not seem to even compare my last doc apt weigh in to my present weight. I worried for nothing. So, surgery is over. I am on day 2 pot op. I'm not very hungry at all and I am focusing on hydrating (Gatorade and water) and getting Protein into everything I eat. I have not lost any weight, but that is ok. I know I have begun an exciting journey and so have YOU!
I look forward to shopping for clothes and ENJOYING IT! That will be a first in my life. I always hated shopping!

I am 7 days out and dont feel like I even had surgery. That part was the easiest! It is truely more difficult to change ur relationship with food. Today I wanted a sandwich. I think it was just head hunger but I was actually hungry for it. Lol
I still have the fear that they really didnt take my stomach out, that I will always be the fat girl with a pretty face.
Address what you r afraid of. Write it down and talk to your doc about it. Talk to your team. That is what they r there for honey!

My surgeon came to see me right before I went in to the operating room and asked how I did on the diet... I said I had a couple set backs. He explained the diet helps to rid your liver of toxins and studies show that those patients that do well on diet and detox their liver have a significantly less chance of complications.

I was in full on freak out mode... about the surgery. I was especially afraid of the anesthesia. Meeting with the anesthesialogist gave me so much peace of mind... he promised me he'd keep me breathing and just gave me alot of reassurance. I get sick from general and they gave me an anti naseau cocktail that kept me from vomiting. i still felt like crap for a few hours, but compared to some previous experiences, it wasn't too bad. I think in hindsight, what i was REALLY afraid of was losing 85% of my stomach and still being obese but at the time all that anxiety focused on my fear of stopping breathing during surgery.
I have said this lots of times, but i find over and over and over again on this journey that I worry about the wrong things...LOL. I promise you that the surgery itself, even those first few weeks of recovery which can be hard... is really not the main thing... for many of us now just a distant memory. The main thing is changing your relationship with food and eating. That is quite a "row to hoe" and is a long term deal.
I know you will be fine and will have amazing success! Believe in the wonderful possibilities that lie ahead; keep your eye on the prize!

What exactly are you afraid of, the anesthesia, the pain, etc...... You need to narrow it down and address it with the surgeons office. I've had two operations in the last 3 months and I had very good experiences with both because I drilled my doctor so I understood everything she was going to do. I asked about different scenario's and options until I was comfortable and felt like I had control. I did know from a prior procedure that I would have a bad reaction to a specific anesthesia, so I made sure everyone and their brother was aware of that. Take control, ask questions.....knowledge should help you Pepper. Good Luck.
