Officially finished all my testing today. The ABG blood test was not that bad. I am a baby when it comes to needles and while it did hurt, it's nothing to worry about. My surgery is Oct 9th!!!

You look amazing and it's just fear of who you are becoming that concerns him. Don't worry, just keep loving him and showing him you haven't changed except for size.

I got my surgery moved to the 9th! Much better for my kids schedule, so excited that I'm officially less than 2 weeks away.

The most ridiculous diet that reeled me in was a white rice and banana diet. I just remember I was so starving I could eat my arm!

Half a cantaloupe filled with cottage cheese 3X a day for 30 days.
Nothing but cabbage and rice Soup for 30 days.
Old school Optifast when it was just that gross, chalky drink.
    Only eating dinner.
    Shall I go on?
The Optifast one is the one that makes me throw up a little in my mouth just thinking about it.

There is Always going to be an excuse not to do it. I have 4 children all in travel sports and could use them as one every time. If you feel that the surgery is going to change your life for the better, then take the leap. But it sounds like you want people to say wait. So if there really is all that conflict and you know your insurance is going to cover it come the new year, then by all means wait. But what if you really do want the surgery and wait for all the other little things to work out and your insurance changes and you will no longer have the surgery covered?
That to me would be worse case scenario.

Amen. I totally understand when people who were relatively lightweights without a lot of comorbidities regret surgery and say that life was better before. Or when someone has complications that they're dealing with. Life may have been better before... But for those of us way up in the 300s or who already have serious comorbidities, then the risks of surgery are WORTH it to us. This is not a cosmetic procedure simply because we don't like being fat, this is giving us our lives BACK! I'm six months out and haven't felt this good in 20 years. Having the surgery has helped me stick with my wheat free diet so my body is free of inflammation for the first time in decades. I have minimal knee pain now, the joint pain in my hands is completely gone. Miraculously my thyroid function has returned to normal (this is VERY uncommon so I don't want anyone thinking that their thyroid will normalize due to diet change/surgery) I can ride a bike... I even fell off my bike a couple of days ago and the only thing that got injured was my pride! I couldn't imagine the pain and injury falling off my bike at 360 pounds would have caused. I am experiencing an extremely positive outcome from this surgery. I recognize that not everyone has this same outcome, but I took the risk because the alternative was for me a 100% certainty that I would continue to live in misery.

I imagine I would do the same. Not only am I married, but they wouldn't have thought to talk to me before so screw them when I look good.

Tomorrow is the last of my pre-op testing. I go for my pulmonary functions and abg blood work and I'm finished! Although I just realized my PCP didn't do a urinalysis so I will call them to see if I could just stop in for it.

Actiually doing an ABG is actually at times easier to do than an IV. The needle is the size of an insulin needle, but the key is to relax while it is done. The preferred method; first the nurse/respiratory therapist finds the radial pulse (the pulse in your wrist). They keep their fingers there as a reference, and then they take the Synge and go straight in at 90 degrees (like throwing a dart). They will use your pulse as the reference point.
Unfortunately, it has hard to numb up with any spray because of the need to find a pulse.
Hope this helps a little bit, fingers crossed takes less than 30 seconds. Good luck.
