Christina.Rose got a reaction from Losingit2018 in Forced to do Bypass
I have the sleeve. I had great success with it. However, I was having significant acid reflux. I went to my surgeon (I let it slide for a long time) Now I am being told that my acid is so bad that I am around 6mo out from cancer..... Barrett's esophagus. I'm really afraid of the bypass. I never wanted it. But she said if I don't get it, I am on the road to cancer. I have three lesions in my esophagus and I am inflamed. The example of the color of my esophagus was.... Healthy, the pink part of a nail bed....Me....USC MAROON. Also, after my endoscopy, my surgeon put me in to operate. That was a week before I spoke to her in person. She said it was better to book surgery and have me opt out. I'm scared. I know I need it. I wake up with my throat on fire, vomiting. Please, can someone help me make peace with the gastric bypass??

Christina.Rose got a reaction from FluffyChix in Psychotherapy for revision seeking alcoholics
I was doing great with the sleeve. Then my husband started beating me, my autistic son became a "teenager".... insert dramatic scary music here.... and my mom died on Dec 21. Oh, and I have an amazing 4 yr old girl. I have been hitting the bottle. A lot. In the last 6mo I have regained 15lbs. I'm currently waiting for insurance to approve a revision surgery for my sleeve. I went from 287 lbs to 215 and now 228. My restriction is still pretty good, but I am so stressed out that I have to believe my excess calorie intake is my alcohol intake. I'm not sure what I am even asking, but does anyone know a good way to battle alcoholism and a good type of doctor that is knowledgeable about bariatric issues as well as alcohol issues? Not specifically looking for a particular doctor, but any ideas would be great.

Christina.Rose got a reaction from Mstlawrence in PCOS with the Sleeve
Ok, I do have PCOS... HOWEVER, I have been pregnant 3 times.....2 before surgery, one after lapband, and I got sleeved in March 2017.....thats my "disclosure" statement. I had 12 years between my last 2 pregnancies so, it may have been PCOS, but I don't know. Now, what I want to let you know is that my symptoms since my sleeve in March 2017 have dropped dramatically. My hair....face, body, yuck etc. and acne have radically decreased. My periods are monthly now......Yay...... [emoji55]......and I have dropped 70lbs so far. I definitely feel like my surgery has had a dramatic impact on my PCOS. My last Dr visit, my blood pressure was 100 over 60.....I usually run kind of low, but have noticed a drop since the surgery. I know my weight loss has been a factor. I hope in some way this may help you out!

Do what your doctor says.....blah blah blah.....I dont care what ANYONE says, I was freaking starving at your stage (I was revised to the sleeve March 2017) Everyone said it was head hunger. Ok, sure. All I can say is that it SUCKS but dont skip steps in your program. Force down another disgusting shake and know that in a week or 2 you will THOROUGHLY enjoy some refried Beans or scrambled eggs or tunafish.....whatever is on your list. Stay strong because the hunger WILL go away or get reduced soon.....and then it comes back, but not like it used to feel. Just let the SUCK happen and it WILL be better.

Im waiting for my one month check up to see my progress (so I dont freak out about the 3week stall) and after that I plan on weighing myself every Friday morning only at the gym. Got rid of the house scale. I get super obsessive about the scale and dont want to go psycho. I have enough stress right now!

Christina.Rose got a reaction from Tamie in Band-to-sleevies, do you like the sleeve better?
I was revised to the sleeve about a month ago. Got banded 2009. I immediately have noticed a tremendous difference between the two. I have immediately began losing weight. You literally can't hardly eat and don't really want to......AFTER THE POST OP liquids PHASE OF STARVATION HELL.........but that's only about 2 weeks. As soon as you hit puree or soft foods it is crazy how little fills you up. With the band you had to guess if you were in the green zone and get 50 adjustments just to hopefully get full. The sleeve IS the green zone. So much easier and you're not a slave to those damn fill appointments. Soooo much better. Oh, if you eat too much or too fast you can get sick and feel a little "stuck" but not like you are being strangled by your food like the band. Others have thrown up....not me....and you CAN get dumping syndrome if you eat something too fatty or sweet. I have experienced that a couple of times. Sweaty, flushed, rapid heartbeat, nausea, diarrhea. No fun. But that's rare and STILL better than fearing each bite will choke you and slime. This is just what I have experienced so far. Hope it was useful to you.

I am so with you. I remember the first time I crossed my legs in ages and it was like.... OMG!!!!!!!!!!
No one else cares or notices, but for me it was a big milestone.
Another one is no longer having anxiety about getting up off the floor.

Congrats on your crossed legs, on to the heels :-)

I don't remember the last time I could sit with my legs crossed. I'm almost 3 months out and I've lost 70lbs. Only obese people get what an accomplishment it is in the simple act of sitting comfortably with crossed legs. 20 more lbs and I might brave high heels. HW 330 SW 319 CW 245.

Christina.Rose reacted to Jess55 in ? For Band to Sleeve revisions....
I had a band to sleeve revision almost 6 months ago. As for pain post op, I was in less pain, though the band was my first ever surgery. I took pain meds for three days then. For the sleeve I didn't take anything after the first night. Although I did stay in the hospital 2 days due to nausea. And I did have some nausea weeks 2-4.

As for restriction. It is so much different than with the band. A few bites with the band and I'd be in pain, but then I could eat anything. I never found my sweet spot. With the sleeve, no pain from being stuck, just an uncomfortable feeling if I ate to much. I'm much happier with the sleeve

I'm a slow loser, not terribly, but slower than a lot of people on here. Like I said I'm almost 6 months out and including my pre op im just under 50lbs lost.

Would I go back to the band, hell no, or would I ever recommend it to anyone, no way. The band is horrible and I don't know why it's still used. Do I regret having the sleeve, not a bit, only that I didn't revise sooner, maybe I would not have gained back everything I lost with the band [emoji20].

So I'm trying to forget about the numbers on the scale for the moment. Despite losing 94lbs in 8 months I'm still disappointed with the number but oh well.
    I'm concentrating on NSV
Able to comfortably sit in an airplane seat - no seat beat extension
Able to comfortably wear a pair of heels YES!!
Gone from a size 26 to 16 which I never ever though I'd get here again
Exercising loads and my stamina has risen beyond expectation
Able to do a 45seconds plank which is a huge achievement for me
Last but not least ABLE TO CROSS MY LEGS!!!!! OMG I've never been able to do this but now my legs naturally want to cross
So don't beat yourself up about the numbers. Look and be happy with those NSV!!

    Hey everyone,
I'm about 4 1/2 months post surgery. I never had trouble with acid reflux/heartburn BEFORE surgery, but since the surgery, it has been REALLY bad. It always happens in the middle of the night when I'm sound asleep, I jolt out of bed with a sour burning taste in my throat and then I usually gag/spit up some yellow acid (like the xenomorph in Alien) and it just feels unbearable for about 15 minutes or so and then goes away. At first it happened about once a week, but now I'd say it's more like 2-3 times a week. They put me on 40 mg of prevacid or one of those pills right after surgery and I took it for the first month, but then I stopped because the reflux didn't seem too bad and I was worried about the side effects. So of course it came back and that's when it's been getting worse. I just got my rx refilled and yesterday was the first day of starting back on medication, but last night I still woke up with the reflux from hell.
I have mentioned this to my doctor, and he basically said "drink more, eat less, get back on the prescription". But I'm worried about this acid either causing esophogeal cancer or literally burning a hole through my esophagus. Maybe that sounds silly, but that's what it feels like and I've already had Breast Cancer, so I am worried about being susceptible to other forms of cancer.
Anyone have experience with this and advice or anything that stopped it completely? The assistant in the Doctor's office said that the hernial repair they did during the surgery usually helps with GERD/Reflux, but I told her I never had issues with it prior to the surgery and she sounded surprised.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
