    Smoothie Options

I'm really trying to find out how to work veggies into smoothies, or juice extracts etc. Not looking for calorie info.... just looking for veggies that can be camouflaged in a smoothie/juice. I HATE spinach, kale....meh....so I find it very hard to believe that I can erase the gross flavor while still getting vitamins.... not talking about the pills, chews, powders etc....I'm stuck with getting a bypass. My sleeve worked great until Barrett's esophagus was on the possible side effects list for me. Just wanted to hear input on veggies....duh, carrots, got it....that can round out a nutritious smoothie. Once again.... not asking for anything synthetic...got that....not asking about calorie intake. Thanks! Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Has anyone else experienced GERD after the Gastric bypass? I got the bypass after my sleeve was causing my stomach acid to burn lesions in my esophagus. A year has gone by, but for the last few months I have been getting really bad heartburn again. I'm getting an endoscopy next week, but I can't seem to find anything about what this could be. The ironic thing, is that I was a smoker for years, but NOW I don't smoke and rarely drink, but my acid feels worse than when I was smoking etc. This happens if I eat or not, when I wake up sometimes, I can't seem to pinpoint a reason. Please let me know if anyone else has been through this. Sent from my moto g(7) supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any military vets out there?

I'm an Army Veteran, I completely understand what you are talking about! I always was over on my weight, but passed tape. I was always worried about my weight. However, nothing beats the horror of saying you are a Veteran and at least THINKING you see a flicker of disbelief and disgust in the eyes of the person you're talking to. YES I understand the shame. The embarrassment of previously knocking out 50 push ups in 2 min, and then being 120 lbs overweight. I got you, girl! Well, I have lost 9O lbs, 30 away from goal weight right now. Still not feeling awesome, but it's slowly coming together. God bless you on your journey and be excited for what is to come!
  4. I have the sleeve. I had great success with it. However, I was having significant acid reflux. I went to my surgeon (I let it slide for a long time) Now I am being told that my acid is so bad that I am around 6mo out from cancer..... Barrett's esophagus. I'm really afraid of the bypass. I never wanted it. But she said if I don't get it, I am on the road to cancer. I have three lesions in my esophagus and I am inflamed. The example of the color of my esophagus was.... Healthy, the pink part of a nail bed....Me....USC MAROON. Also, after my endoscopy, my surgeon put me in to operate. That was a week before I spoke to her in person. She said it was better to book surgery and have me opt out. I'm scared. I know I need it. I wake up with my throat on fire, vomiting. Please, can someone help me make peace with the gastric bypass?? 5. I'm actually 3mo (sleeve to bypass for GERD) out and am still having acid. This bypass surgery has not been worth the effort, money, pain, misery so far. If I wasn't so disappointed and depressed, I would be pissed off. Sorry, no advice, but it is not just you.

    Hate bypass

I 100% agree with you. I miss my sleeve. I was on the way to getting esophageal cancer from GERD...Btw, I still have acid problems, just not as bad....so I had to get revised to the bypass. I hate it. I can't possibly understand how less stomach let's me eat more?? Idk, I feel like I am. I've only lost 20lbs in 2+ months also. So miserable and nauseous all of the time, don't get me started on toilet stuff....ugh. HATE THIS
  9. Tomorrow I go in for my corrective surgery, Sleeve to RNY, due to severe acid reflux. Any tips? This is the first time I have ever done a bowel prep... hopefully it won't be too bad.....still waiting! Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. The main reason you don't drink while eating is to keep the food in there to help get satiated. It's not going to ruin you, but it's good that you recognized the difference. Good luck [emoji106] Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    Forced to do Bypass

Dude, lol....I got the lapband first. The sleeve was supposed to be my salvation. It really works so well! I just can't deal with this pain and fire anymore. I can be in a dead sleep, wake up with acid in my mouth, I run to the toilet to spit it up, and then my gag reflex kicks in. So much burning! Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    Forced to do Bypass

Thank you [emoji4] I'm scared. Like you said, me and my intestines are a team! Not looking forward to chopping them up. That's why I chose the sleeve. Damn!!! Ugh Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I can only tell you what I am experiencing. I had the lapband......may a thousand curses befall that BS..... Then I got the sleeve. I kinda loved it. I lost 70+ lbs. But now, 2 years in, I have horrific acid reflux. My surgeon said I was maybe 6mo out for cancer. Precipitated by Barrett's esophagus. Now I am sadly submitting to a gastric bypass. I never wanted it. I still don't. But, hey, it beats cancer! Im unhappy, but I am the reason my stomach has been eviscerated. Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    Forced to do Bypass

Barrett's esophagus is what my doctor said would likely happen without intervention! And then, of course, cancer....I really hoped I could hang on to my tiny banana stomach. But, here I am. Not happy. Afraid of all of the reasons I never wanted a bypass. However, my doctor, Monali Misra, is such a wonderful person. I truly trust her with my life. If she says she's not comfortable with revising my sleeve, I am confident. I have to make alot of changes. Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. I was doing great with the sleeve. Then my husband started beating me, my autistic son became a "teenager".... insert dramatic scary music here.... and my mom died on Dec 21. Oh, and I have an amazing 4 yr old girl. I have been hitting the bottle. A lot. In the last 6mo I have regained 15lbs. I'm currently waiting for insurance to approve a revision surgery for my sleeve. I went from 287 lbs to 215 and now 228. My restriction is still pretty good, but I am so stressed out that I have to believe my excess calorie intake is my alcohol intake. I'm not sure what I am even asking, but does anyone know a good way to battle alcoholism and a good type of doctor that is knowledgeable about bariatric issues as well as alcohol issues? Not specifically looking for a particular doctor, but any ideas would be great. Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    3rd times a charm!

Not exactly the same, but I had the band 2009, had it removed....may it burn for all eternity....then got the sleeve 2017, lost 70lbs....not goal weight, but good....and now I am suffering from fiery dragon vomit 2 yrs out, for people who like medical terms, GERD. SOOOO painful and miserable. So now I am trying to get a sleeve revision. Too scary for me to get anything messing with my intestines. At a minimum, I need a hiatal hernia repair. Third Revision...

Unfortunately, that is what I have been told. However, my surgeon recommended..... obviously after the endoscopy..... that she might be able to kind of suture my "banana" to the bottom end of my hiatal hernia area, so it won't pop through??? I'm too afraid of rerouting my intestines etc. Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    Third Revision...

I had the band, with minimal results. Went to the sleeve, AWESOME RESULTS! But now 2 years out, I have unbearable acid reflux. Like burning vomit saliva misery. I just went in to see if I could get a revision to my sleeve. My endoscopy is in a week to see what is going on. I refuse to get a bypass. I like knowing a tiny little banana of stomach is still alive and well. Just saying, I am on round 3. Over a 10 year span. Good luck [emoji106] Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

    Why sleeve with DS?

Im supposed to be sleeved, and just recently noticed some people are getting a sleeve with the DS. What is the benefit of this? How does it work? I thought the whole reason to "sleeve" was to keep the digestive flow the same. Im just curious as to what other sleeve options there are that I don't know about. Food cravings

Do what your doctor says.....blah blah blah.....I dont care what ANYONE says, I was freaking starving at your stage (I was revised to the sleeve March 2017) Everyone said it was head hunger. Ok, sure. All I can say is that it SUCKS but dont skip steps in your program. Force down another disgusting shake and know that in a week or 2 you will THOROUGHLY enjoy some refried beans or scrambled eggs or tunafish.....whatever is on your list. Stay strong because the hunger WILL go away or get reduced soon.....and then it comes back, but not like it used to feel. Just let the SUCK happen and it WILL be better.
