  1. This was easy to find so I hope all the aMAYzing bandsters can find it and switch over. It might take a while but eventually they will find it. It's the old 'if you build it they will come' thing. I am eating everything I'm not supposed to because I can. i'm four weeks post op with no fill yet. I was supposed to go in Monday for my first but when they found out I was leaving town on Tuesday they decided to make me wait till i get back. I'm going home for a family reunion with lot's of food because we all know that is what families do . . . . they eat! I need a quick kick in the pants to get back on the program, especially since it's strawberry shortcake season.. . . . . . help!
  2. I can't figure out what is up with the double posting! For some reason it won't post the first time and the when I send it again it sends both. oh well!
  3. I'm posting before I go back and read all I've missed. I've been off for a few days getting ready for a bridal shower for my sons fiance at my house. Also I will be gone for a week starting next Tuesday for a family reunion. This is scarry considering I haven't had my first fill yet and I have no restriction. I'm just praying I don't gain weight while I'm gone.

  5. I like it because I want to hear mostly from those who are in the same place as me and it gets old, not to mention the amount of time it takes, to sort through those who are newer or past where you are. I like the idea that I could go to the place I want, for what I want, when I want it. Did that just make sense?

  7. Dawneb - when your weight stalls then remeasure with the tape. Hopefully you took measurements all over your body before you started your pre-op. When I had a three day stall I got out my tape and found that I had still lost inches. sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me motivated. My last plateau lasted two weeks and that was a real hard thing to deal with but I can tell by my clothes that things are still changing. We all lose weight differently. Some of us drop and hang for a while and others lose slow and steady. I'm feeling somewhat normal again, don't know what the pain was all about but if it comes back I will go see the doc. Thanks for being concerned.
  8. Finally!!!! The scale moved 2 pounds and I am off the plateau. I was telling Sur last night that this weird thing happened yesterday while I was at Fred Meyers. I was pushing an empty shopping cart when I felt this bubble come up and burst right at my band, it was very painful and I had little stabbing pains in that area all night. This morning I am feeling a bit nauseus when I drink fluid. I hadn't eaten for about 2 hours when this happened so I know it wasn't related to food. The only thing I can think it could be tied to is some gardening I did earlier in the day. Do you think I could of slipped my band or something? Mer - how is the sewing going? My dog always finds the smelliest thing to roll in. She loves rotten fish and guts that the eagles leave after their feast. It's so gross! I walked on the treadmill at the YMCA this morning and when it reached 215 calories I thought I better stop or I would be negative numbers for the day. JK
  9. I am three weeks post op and have been on a plateau for 1 1/2 weeks. I'm on Protein shakes and clear liquids and haven't cheated hardly at all. I figure I am only consuming about 800 calories a day plus I am walking 2 miles/day about 5 times a week. Go figure! I lost weight really fast in the first three weeks ( 2 pre-op & 1 post - op) and then hardly nothing. What gives? I think I am truley weight loss resistent. It's been tough just holding my own and not gaining weight this last week. I wish I had some answers for you.
  10. Is this for anyone living in the Northwest or is it for those from NWWLS? Just making sure if it is for anyone in the area with a band regardless of where you got it.
  11. Morning! Just checking in with you all. Still stuck on my plateau and it's really hard not to just eat everything in sight. I know why they call this banster hell . . . . .eveything goes down soooo easy . . . . .no restriction . . . . . . and if I had discipline in my eating then I wouldn't need this in the first place! I totally get why people gain weight during this and I guess I'm feeling good about holding it even considering. Anyone else here, three weeks out and waiting for a the first fill?
  12. Mer - I don't get a fill until the 25th. I could of got one on the 18th but since I was leaving town they didn't want to do it till I got back soooo I am waiting an extra week. I started doing some pureed foods this week. I went to the support group with Sue and the nutritionists said we should be having at least 800 calories. I think part of my problem was just not getting enough and my body going into starvation mode. We'll see. Sue and I are going to try and walk around 1pm if you want to come. Pinenut - missed you tonight at the support group. You are going to have to come so we can meet!
  13. hi Mer - I have been with Missy at her dance recital all weekend. Tomorrow I am planning on cleaning out the boat in the sun. Hope there is some. My cell phone died and they were able to transfer my number to my old phone but not my contact numbers. We will call you next time we walk. Sue said she has your number but I don't until my phone is fixed.
  14. Hey April Banders - I need some advice and I thought since you guys are farther down the road, you would know the answers. I am two weeks post op and my port site is still very swollen. It looks like a small football cut in half and laid under my skin. Do you all think it will go down with time or is there something in there that should be drained. How long should I wait for the swelling to go down? I have seemed to hit a plateau big time! Not one ounce in a week and all I'm having is Three protein shakes plus 64oz of water. I might get a glass of SF drink and a popsicle in there. What could be causing the stall out? I know some of you might have had these issues so I would really love to hear from you. Thanks
  15. Sue - Give me a call when you are done at the Doc's.
  16. Mer and Sue - Up for walking tomorrow? Maybe on Sues lunch break? Mer you should bring Rachel. Anyone else for a walk along Grandview in UP?
  17. I thought Dr. Oh said at the seminar that he would remove it at the same time he did the lap band but the hospital wouldn't pick any of it up. However, I do know some people have gotten some of their hospital bill picked up even if they were self-pay so probably depends on your insurance. There are other people on some of the threads who had to have gall bladder surgery two weeks before their band surgery. Guess it comes down to the Doctor.
  18. hi there - just checking in with everyone. feeling good and wanting to eat everything in sight! Liquid is just not cutting it. Hit a plateau the last 5 days and getting discouraged. I think I need a fill sooner then later. Mer and Sue - we need to walk tomorrow! I miss it and am not making it a priority. I need my walking partners!
  19. Ljuht115 - He saw it last Friday and didn't seem too concerned. He told me it could take 3-4 weeks for the swelling to go down but my right side looks fine. If it was going down at all I would feel fine about it but It looks the same and it seems there is fluid down lower. It is very fluid looking, not normal. I will give it another week and then call them for an appt. if it looks the same. I feel really good today. I have been busy, in and out of the house, so I haven't thought a lot about eating. That's a good thing! I need to work harder at getting my walking in.
  20. Hope everyone had a great weekend! It won't be soon and everyone of the a-MAY-zing banders will have their bands! A couple questions to those earlier banders . . . . . Is your port area still swollen? Mine looks like a bubble around it, also looks like fluid is collecting in my lower abdomen. has anyone ever had to have that drained? Also . . . . my weight loss has totally stalled out at 10 days post op. Whats up with that? I don't mind if it slows down but this is tooooo slow. Also . . . . does anyone have really yellow BM's. Not sure if its color from the vitamins or from my stomach bile. I am only supposed to be having protein shakes, water, clear liquids, and vitamens right now. I dropped weight very fast before surgery on this same diet. Can't figure out why it's all stopped for now.
  21. Sue - ready to walk yet? Just tell me when and I will take you. I'm fighting the mental hungrys, especially on this long weekend of getting together and eating. I gotta stay strong! Had some ff sf pudding and felt like I had cheated enough. Back to the straight and narrow. Hey! i wore a straight skirt that has been hanging in my closet for a couple of years now because it was to small. My weight loss has slowed down a bit but it still moving in a downward direction so that is good.
  22. Pinenut - I totally get what you are saying about the hair. Mine feels awul, dry and limp. I tried conditioning it and it felt a little better but it still sticks to my head. i wonder if it has anything to do with the amount of Protein we are drinking? I think it is a very good possibility that the meds had something to do with it. I walked twice around the mall yesturday with Merrillee and was practically in a cold sweat. I start the day feeling great but by afternoon I am exhauseted! I'm feeling like my self most of the day. Starting back on protein and vitamins has helped a lot! Taken the hunger away. My first incision to loose all it's steri strips is the farthes on my right. It is a small hole with a small cut underneath it. I am wondering if the small hole was a oops. They are right on top of each other. I cut off all the loose steri peices and my skin is very rashy under the strips, red and bumpy but the incision itself looks good. LJUHT115 and Sue - take it easy this weekend and don't rush anything. You will feel a bit better everyday but are not full strength yet. it is okay to be babied awile longer. Milk it!
  23. Evilah - Dr. Oh didn't do a barrium swallow on me and I wasn't cathed either. i remember it was hard to potty the first time, couldn't feel anything at all. i'm sure if this became an issue they would have to cath to empty your bladder but I haven't heard of that happening. Today is the first day I didn't lose any weight which is okay because things were going down at an alarming rate. I get to start Protein shakes today and back to my walking everyday. I know I will start to lose again soon. I am feeling very good. I am able to sleep on my side now and only feel port pain when I twist or bend on that side. Now i have to get through the next three weeks of liquids without losing my mind.
  24. I think it's an either or thing with the bowels, Either you have the squirts or you are constipated. My guess is it all works itself out in the end. hee hee I would definately not pay for the extra night but I bet they will try and charge you anyways. Mer - I have a 10:15 appt with Oh and a 1:30 appointment for my car. I'm hoping that we can walk in between the two. The waterfront on Rustin Way would be cool. I'll call you when i'm done at Ohs.
  25. Ljuht115 - you will have to read your post again when you are off drugs! lol glad it is finally done for you, guess it is better to have your doctor fresh in the morning then tired after a long day. Bet you got to know your nurses well. Take it easy and rest!
