    Protein content in tofu:
One half-cup serving of raw firm tofu contains 10.1 grams of protein. The recommended daily intake is 56 grams for most men and 46 for most women. A half-cup of tofu is approximately 4 oz by weight, or just under 1/3 of the average sized 14 oz package of tofu. By comparison, 1/2 cup dairy milk contains 5.1 grams of Protein, one 3 oz egg contains 6 grams and 4 oz ground beef contains about 26 grams of protein. Tofu is an excellent source of vegetarian protein.

    Calories in tofu:

One half-cup serving of raw firm tofu contains 94 calories. By comparison, 4 oz ground beef contains 331 calories, 1/2 cup of 2% milk has 60 calories and 4 oz of cheese packs 320 calories.

Any recipe you have or find can be converted to using Tofu, it's a Great Protein alternative and if it calls for rice try Quinoa, it's healthier than rice.
Problem is Society is all about eating meat When a plant based diet is much healthier in general.

Well May 24th was my one month bandiversary!!!! YAY me...down 20 pounds.. not to bad i don;t think.. and that's with going to Ocean Isle, NC for my cousins wedding.. with my loving mom..I forgot my measuring cups but i feel as though i did okay with eating.. and trust me i was tempted by all the Snacks my family loves to have after a day on the beach.. i didn't deprive myself but i didn't go for them all numerous times like i would have in the past.. i'm feeling quite proud of myself for that... all the while i felt like i had to sneak things sometimes because my mom who i love and would not change for anything, mind you, always had a comment or a look ,, maybe even a "hmm" to go with ...i don't think that is just mine is it? finally we had to have some words back and forth of me telling her how i felt and it was irritating... i always hated that feeling of having to sneak and i didn't want to be put back there. So she stopped .. MOST of it and says" i just worry" i told her "i knew that but i'm okay" and we have a splendid week!! So now i am back home.. a nice tan, and the scale depending on the time of day i go on .. i either stayed the same or i lost a pond or two... i like that morning weigh in.. lol Have a good day everyone.

My hubby got scared. He told me, "don't go getting skinny and decide to leave me!" When I told him I wanted to be skinny so he could pick me up and ravage me against a wall, his tune totally changed!! Funny thing is now that I've lost most of my excess weight, he's suddenly lifting weights! I guess he still has that promise in the back of his mind!! I'm not quite small enough for him to pick me up like that just yet, but I can't wait!!

My husband was never interested in it. He thought it was dangerous. I started this journey alone. When I talk about it now, he isn't super responsive. Lol. He sees that I'm okay. But he's a man. Disinterest is a man thing for ya. Lol.
I'm happy, so I'm like "whatever dude" to him. Lol

So I am 6 weeks post op and I followed my doctors instructions to eat slowly and small bites but after my first fill I was so affraid of getting stuck that I decided to time between bites like I have seen so many people talk about on here. geez seems like forever! I only ate about 2/3 of what I would have eaten before! So excited about it and I am really full! I just downloaded a timing app onto my phone so I can keep this up

    Ok, another tough love moment:
Knock it off! This isn't about quitting at this point, this is about seriously hurting yourself by not following your post op diet. Your stomach has been stitched and by eating food before you're allowed you are risking ripping them. Call your doctor and be honest what you've done so he can make sure you haven't done any damage and in the meantime get back on your post op diet and stay on it.
Why are you upset over 1.4 pounds lost? The first 4-6 weeks post op are for healing not losing so for you to lose anything at all is great. Plus, the average weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds a week. You need to have realistic expectations or you're setting yourself up for failure.
You have a choice to make. Either buckle down and do the right thing or throw up your hands and give up before you even give it a chance.
You can do this but you have to want it and commit to it.

Don't be hard on yourself, please! You are not broken by any means. Look, I've been struggling with weightloss for 16yrs. I had my band put in in 2009. I lost 80lbs, then went through depression and now I'm back doing it all over again.
With talking to people on this website, family, friends, and doctors I am finding my way. So far I have lost 23lbs. I have no liquid in my band what so ever. I had to learn how to eat all over again, and love me again.
It's NOT easy whatsoever, but it gets easier. Have faith in yourself. Use every connection you can to help. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

thoward reacted to Jack in Some days I can eat, some days i can't
I think your direct observations such as "If I'm not hungry I don't eat, but sometimes I'm so hungry I take a bit, then I can't take another. Like i feel sick and want/need to vomit to stop that feeling" are great indicators of what may well be happening.
It was totally surprising to learn that sometimes ONE bite was plenty...against habit and decades of bad conditioning by all around us...yet there it was.
MOST of my similar complaints identical to the one you described, resolved by treating 'eating' as a resolution to 'hunger'. IE: "one bite" didn't necessarily mean EAT THE WHOLE THING.
One helpful tool is to actually chart what you eat and when WITH COMMENTS. As you review your history a week or a month later, you can evaluated trends in your own progress.
A very useful phase is to recognize the advantages of the ONE bite= NOT hungry ! Yes, it truly happens.
The hard part later, is to remember that and continue not taking the second or 22nd bite.
Since they had to remove most of my fill about 6 months ago, I have come to appreciate being able to eat what is an approximately 'normo' size meal without issues.
It is very beneficial IMHO to pay attention to what, where, when and why I do eat, along with such other control items as "how fast" and what the actual sensory pleasure of the food is, rather than cram it in with my eating shovel as rapidly as possible, per perOp days.

I have trouble eating often, but I've worked through it and found it's mostly in my head. You never could have convinced me of that a year ago though. I was sure it was the band and problems. Even now still, if I let those thoughts creep into my head as I sit down to eat, I can experience problems. I just feel full and like I'll be sick if I try to eat anything. It helps if I try to relax and breathe deep and get "out of my head" about eating and just tackle it like something I need to do like brushing my teeth. Look for any consistencies in symptoms or habits when this happens to try to figure out what's causing it. If you have a really bad spell at a meal, don't try to force it. Drink a Protein Shake instead and just move on to the next meal.

I weigh daily, it is my accountability. I also had have weight fluctuations based on how hard I exercise, and how much sodium I take in. Last Sunday, I did a very strenuous 2 hour ride, as my muscles repaired themselves I retained 5 pounds of Water, today? poof all gone. If I weighed myself weekly, and had a 5 pound gain on my weigh in day, and then needed to wait another week, life would be HELL.
I weigh daily, and realize that there are going to be fluctuations. I also keep an eye on my weight 30 days prior to give me perspective.
I watch my Fat percentages as calculated by my scale for trends.
I log my food, counting my calories, my Protein and my sodium intake.
I am aware of the fit of my clothes and track inches on a monthly basis.
This routine works for me, YMMV.
As far as string cheese, I prefer the Babybel light cheese by Laughing cow, only one less gram of Protein, but 30 less calories and 30 mg less sodium.

I drive myself crazy with the scale at times. If you're not in the habit of doing it daily I would recommend not starting if you feel it is going to dictate your mood like Kim states. Scale frustrations are not uncommon in my house. On the other hand other people feel that weighing themselves daily keeps them on track or accountable. I've come close to throwing mine out the window. I am finally back to weighing once a week and even then at times I want to throw out the window.
