    24 hrs....

Good luck today! You've got a lot of people thinking about you.
  12. I had a hernia repair and my lapband placed on Tuesday May 21st. The first few days I was just taking my pain meds and sleeping a lot. On Saturday things changed for the worse! Ugh... I tried to go yard saling with my mom and not even 20 minutes into it I started getting dizzy, nauseous and I started sweating really bad. So I got into the car and had her crank up the AC and get me home. I then slept for 3-4 hours. When I got up I was drenched in sweat and felt the need to throw up. I've heard of the band slipping from throwing up so I was really scared. Eventually I just had to get it out. I puked for what seemed like 30 seconds... Then my stomach started RUMBLING! I've never heard of a rumble so LOUD. I think you can hear it from the other room. This rumbling has continued through the night and into today. I am on my two-week liquid post-op diet. I've been having broth, water, propel zero, protein shakes, and sf jello. So I don't think that it's from the lack of liquids. On top of the awful rumbling and the weird movements coming from my stomach I have had horrible diarrhea for the past few days. I've taking imodium and gas x and nothing seems to be working. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms? Any advice as to how to get rid of them? I am going to call my Dr. first thing Tuesday morning but I was hoping to find some in-home remedies.
  13. Keep your head up! There are always going to be negative people in this world. Do your best to just keep your distance from them. You're losing the weight for YOURSELF not for anyone else. Put yourself first and remember that the Lapband is a tool and it takes time for this tool to work.

Thanks for sharing your story. BTW-Your swimsuit is really cute. Keep up the good work.
  15. Hey, Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 28-year-old full time college student finishing up my degree in Elementary Education. I've been battling with my weight since I was about 10 years old. My weight has caused many problems in my life and I see it getting worse as I get older. I come from a family were both of my parents are morbidly obese. I've been thinking about getting the Lap Band for about a year now but wanted to try other options before I went with one that is so drastic. Like almost everyone else on this forum I've tried every type of weight loss pill, exercise, program, etc. out there. In the beginning of March (2013) I hit my highest weight of 225.6 lbs. I am only 5'3" so this is A LOT of weight for my size. I can barely squeeze into a size 18 pants. That day I said, "I've had enough!" I quickly went to Innovative Weight Loss Solutions at Geary Community Hospital and learned about my weight loss options. After deciding that the band was the right option for me I learned that my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas) wouldn't cover the procedure. This quickly put a damper on my decision. Fortunately for me my grandparents are loaning me the money to cover the surgery. They know that this new, "tool" will help with my weight loss. I've paid for the surgery, completed all of the paper work, attended a mandatory informational meeting, and met with a psychologist and a nutritionist. The next step on my journey is to meet the surgeon and set up a surgery date. As the days go by I have quit several of my bad eating habits. This includes my daily large sweet tea from McDonalds and my daily fast food lunch. These changes as well as going to the gym on a regular basis have helped me lose a few pounds. Ideally, I would like to go into surgery weighing around 200 pounds. My goal weight is 125-130 lbs. or a size 6 whichever one comes first. The weight loss and size is important but most of all I want to be happy and healthy. Thanks for taking the time to read my introduction post. I’ve been checking out these forums for about a month now and have learned a lot about the band. I hope to gain more knowledge and some friends along the way.

Post-Op Roundup - how is everyone doing?

My surgery was on Tuesday (5-21-13) It's been a slow recovery for me. I am ALWAYS tired and SORE. I haven't had much of an appetite but I make myself drink Water, Protein shakes, and broth. On the morning of surgery I weighed in at 199.4 and today I was 202.8! Seeing a higher number on the scale is frustrating. I know that my body is healing but you would think that the weight would start coming off. How long did it take for your pain to go away? When did you start exercising? (Ladies Question) I had to stop taking my birth control pills on the 1st of May. My surgeon said I can start taking them again two weeks after my surgery. I've been on the same pill for 12 years without missing a pill. How do I start a new pack? Start on day one? How long do you have to be on a liquid diet? I did two weeks pre-op and then it's supposed to be two weeks post-op. Thanks for making this post. It'll be nice to chat with people that are going through similar issues.

    My breaking point! And yours?

My breaking point was when several of my Kindergarteners asked me if I was pregnant.

    3 days Post-Op

I had my surgery on the 21st as well. I've been dealing with the same gas pains. I have an electric throw that I've been using and it seems to help a little bit.
  21. I had my hernia repair and the lapband placed on Tuesday May 21st. All I have been doing is sleeping, walking, and relaxing. I have five insisions on my torso. The one right above my belly button and the one right below my breast bone hurt the most. I am now on another liquid diet. This time I have to have liquids until June 13th. Then I have two weeks of pureed, two weeks or mushy and then a week of regular food before I get my first fill. It's going to be a journey but in the end it will TOTALLY be worth it.
  22. I had a hernia repaird and the band put on yesterday morning. My doctor likes his patients to stay the night so I got to go home a few hours ago. I have been SO sleepy. Can only keep my eyes open 20-30mins. before I fall back asleep. Had a somewhat of a difficult time in the hospital. You don't understand how much you use your abdomnial muscles until you can't use them. As far as being at home I've been switching from the bed, to the recliner, to the couch. Trying to get comfortable. I have five incisions on my belly. They look pretty bruised and swollen but that will go away in a few days. I know it's going to be a long and difficult recovery but I CAN do it!

I am on the other side! :)

Ladies, thanks for the kind words. I will keep everone updated.
  24. I just finished up my Pre-Operative Testing for my LapBand surgery. On Monday I have my EGD test and then I start my two week liquid diet. My actual LapBand surgery will be on Tuesday May 21, 2013. I am so excited and a bit nervous at the same time. I am ready for a change and this tool will help me achieve my personal goals.
  25. Good Morning! I am scheduled to be in surgery here in the next few hours. I have to report at 6:30am to prepped. So far, this has been a successful journey as I have learned to control my head hunger and have done a lot of research on proper nutrition with the band. It's hard to believe that here just a few months ago I weighed in at my heaviest of 225.6 and now this morning I was 199.4. I have officially hit "one-derland". I have a ways to go but I know with support and knowledge that I WILL get there. Thanks for the positive words of wisdom and advice. *The pictures are from April of this year. I weighed about 220 lbs and wore an XL shirt and size 18 pants.*
