A good app?
What is a good app for keeping track of your mileage, for lack of a better term. I have an IPhone I don't know if that makes a difference. I'm not up on all this kind of stuff. Thanks for any input. ~~~Stephanie

Post op question
About 10 days after surgery we went over to a friends house over night and did some running around, in and out of the car, walking around, up and down some stairs. I felt good but still had to take it easy. It was only for about half the day, but it still made me tired and sore. So depending on the activity's I would just take it easy and don't be surprised if you get more tired and sore than expected. But the food could be an issue, I was able to take my own stuff, but we we're there over night too. ~~~Stephanie

acid reflux
I'm so sorry your having issues. I had a hernia repair the same time I had surgery for my band. I only had mild acid reflux before the surgery and have not had a problem with it since the surgery. They did prescribe acid reflux medication along with the anti-neusea meds (which they did for everyone) to get filled before the surgery so I could use it after the surgery if I had a problem. They acted as if it could be a problem after the surgery but not for a long time after. Your Dr,. would now best for you though. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

Lung pain
Right after surgery I had a lot of problems when I would try and take a deep breath it hurt in my chest and my shoulder even the back of my neck at times, I think it was gas. When I left the hospital they sent me home with some type of machine to practice breathing deeper. It is important to breath deep to help open your lung and keep you from getting pneumonia. At least that is what I was told. The heating pad was my best friend. ~~~Stephanie

Caffeine
I think the only problem with caffeine is the possibility of getting dehydrated. Because dehydration is a concern with the band. I don't know why that is maybe someone else can answer that one. I just dink one cup in the morning to wake me up and it is regular. I have not had a problem but I'm also only a week out of surgery. I could be wrong about the dehydration thing it would not be the first time. ~~~Stephanie

Practical question - bending down after surgery
I just had surgery 4 weeks ago, and my instructions that went home with me said no lifting anything over 10 pounds or bending or stooping for 6 weeks. I now have found myself in situations that I have had to bend over but I try not to. I still have avoided picking anything up over 10 pounds. I have help though. I guessed the bending had to do with the port, it is stitched in and bending over could pull on the stitches, and possibly pull out a stitch. Good luck. They should give you instructions when you leave the hospital I would guess. ~~~Stephanie

Pre op diet
As far as your menstrual cycle you won't have to reschedule. Just let the nurses now and they'll take care of you. You can not wear a tampon.. My hospital gave me some special undergarments. The pre-op diet is mainly for shrinking the liver, so maybe your doctor does not feel that will be a problem.. As winkie80 stated all doctors are different in there requirements Good luck. ~~~Stephanie.

Just wanted to say love NC. I was born in Jacksonville and I have family in Sneadsferry NC. Haven't been back in awhile We we're military so we moved a lot and eventually after retirement got stuck here in TX for the jobs. My husbands in aviation, it's big here. Enjoy it for me. ~~~Stephanie

Texas, but I'm probably bias. They do have the lowest unemployment rate in the states. Traffic is a nightmare, but I'm in north Fort Worth. I don't know what it is like near the beaches. Summer's are hot, but we have had some mild winters lately. Has some of the best medical too. I guess you would be needing a bariactric doc? ~~~Stephanie

Need Explanation...
I just got a fill and I'm on liquids for 2 days. I went to the fridge and had forgotten about being on liquids and grabbed the deli chicken meat and started eating it then it felt like it got stuck and it felt like I had to burp but if I did something would come up, there was mild discomfort , it finally went down after a few minutes after I took a sip of tea.(no sugar or caffeine Lol)I had this same thing happen when I was on mushies except I was eating what I was suppose to. It happened about 3 times. Is it a stuck episode or am I over eating or something. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks ~~~Stephanie

Does anyone's Port hurt weeks after surgery?
I had the same issue, for a while I was concerned, but around week 4 it settled down. The only thing I have to watch is my wire bras and jeans when I wear them together and go to sit down it will aggravate it sure as anything. Mine was mostly on my right side, and once in awhile I would get a twinge on the left. I know the one on the right was my port. I don't know why it hurt on the left. Yours should go away soon. ~~~Stephanie ~~~Stephanie

To "eat" or not to "eat"?
My Doctor sent me home from the hospital with Isopure to drink it is a clear Protein drink. So, you may want to check with your Dr. like mis73 said. He may want some protein in that liquid. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

What to eat right after surgery?
I was on clear liquids after surgery. That included clear Protein drinks not the milky ones those fell under full liquids. Did your Dr. tell you whether or not to drink Protein shakes? If he said yes I would assume he wanted them to be clear. But to be sure you should call. They wanted me on The Isopure, nasty. I could not tolerate them I found there second choice much better just not as much protein, they were nectar, fuzzy navel flavor, it is really good. I think

Flying????
I just got a fill from my Dr. yesterday and they mentioned that if I was going to fly either get some Fluid removed or not eat or drink anything 2 hours before and up to 2 hours after. It has to do with the air pressure in the plane because your band is pressurized and your band will feel tighter than it is. I know there is a lot of different answers so the best bet is to ask your doctor before you fly. ~~~Stephanie

can't login
I had a problem logging in yesterday too. I never could log on all day yesterday and then today it was fine. ~~~Stephanie

Is this what being stuck feels like
That's what my episode felt like except that if I did burp something would have come up with it. It was like the food was stuck in between my breast and would not go down, but it eventually did. I just got my first fill so I'm new to this. Was that like a PB or was I full or something else. Can you tell? It has happened like 4 times on soft foods. ~~~Stephanie

Sick
I only had diarrhea on the 3rd day then it turned into constipation. I have read were people do get diarrhea, liquid in liquids out. Maybe you could use some Imodium AD, or better yet your Dr. might could call something in for you. I would think if it gets real bad and hurts you might need to call your Dr. Good luck ~~~Stephanie .
