dawalsh got a reaction from Debbie3sons in Lap band or sleeve? Why did you get revision to sleeve?
I'm banded as of 12/28/12. I've lost close to 70 lbs post banded. My daughter opted for the sleeve. She is losing faster than I am but stomach cancer runs on her late father's side. If it were me I would have opted for the band but it is tedious to keep getting small fills. I have an extremely conservative doctor with fills and I have finally hit the green zone. Most doctors aren't as conservative as mine was but I'm glad I did it nice and slow. My daughter has a problem with slider foods (like potato chips) and she gained on her first weigh in post op. She still eats everything but a lot less. She's looking good but I still worry about her and the sleeve considering the family history.
Like you said, the band is reversible, the sleeve is not so it's entirely up to you. Good luck!

Thank you Labwalker. It's been so long since I was on the Forum that I didn't realized I had posted this in the wrong section. I started a new thread in the exercise section. So happy to have you be part of this journey with me.

Sure! I try to do an hour on the treadmill everyday. That is good for over three miles, and around 800 calories. Why don't you start a thread in the exercise section asking everyone to log in daily with the number of steps, or miles, for each day? Maybe you could have everyone add to a running total for steps and/or miles to keep the challenge going. When we reached 1,000,000 maybe Alex will treat us to a steak and lobster fest (his treat) as a reward and incentive.. (just kidding on that part.)

Yes it passed thank God, and I will be more careful. My daughter was banded on 8/1/14 she was scared for me but it was an learning experience for her to know what not to do. Thanks for your help.

Oh and I hope I helped in some way hope it feels better soon, so don't worry unless it goes on for more than a he. Or a (couple) of days , but it shouldn't hurt your band .

dawalsh got a reaction from Julie norton in CRUISE TO LOSE DATE CORRECTION
Hi Liz,I will get something going for 2015. Don't fret about that but I do believe someone was complaining that it sounded like an advertisement and complained to Alex. That's OK because if I have to pay and sponsor it on this side I will. People get testy. This cruise to lose was originally on the original lapband sight then it got changed to the bariatric pal site so it became open to all WLS people which I think is good. It does not matter what type of WLS you've had you still have to learn to face all situations in a social atmosphere. You can have fun and learn to eat in a special setting like a cruise and meet other people in a similar situation. So, I will still have a hot yoga instructor and a personal trainer onboard for all levels including people with disabilities. I'm also in consultation for special dietary needs onboard including special diets and allergen diets. I'm getting very excited with the people I have consulted and they're all certified in their field.
So hang in there. It may have to do with price too but the value is there for what people will be getting. A fun and healthy lifestyle vacation. Please keep in touch because I want to get in touch with Alex about possibly paying to sponsor this event out of my pocket. Perhaps we can then make it an annual event. :-)!

I almost have a bmi of 70 and they denied me. Because it wasn't "necessary", even though I have HBP. Go figure, i appealed it and the insurance company approved it after a few months. Surgery is tomorrow morning

dawalsh got a reaction from Ladybandito in I give up!
Ok, then I should have given up too! I was banded 12/38/2012! 3 days after Christmas! It was hard with all the parties and festivities around me! Did I cheat during my pre-op diet? You bet your sweet bibby I did! I was careful but I did cheat! Did I want to give up? I thought about it because everyone kept telling me they were going to start their diets on Jan 1st! I was saying that my whole lifetime! So, I stuck to my guns with an occasional cheat here and there and I still had my surgery on 12/28! Best decision I ever made! Otherwise I would have been on the same cycle, I'll start my diet after the holidays, I'll start it tomorrow, I'll start it next week or I'll start on Monday! Sound familiar? Please don't give up because you had one slip up! We all slip! Deep the faith and keep that appointment. Good luck to you!

Thanks so much for your reply. Prayer is definitely my friend right now. I'm trying to use the power of positive thinking to get through these next six days. I can do this. I have to do something to make my life better. I am missing out on so much. The quality of my life is horrible right now. IT IS TIME I TAKE MY LIFE BACK!! All I can ask for is for God to watch over my body and guide my surgeon's and his assistant's hands through my procedure.

This anxiety is normal. It is major surgery...if you weren't freaking out, then you should panic!
I'm not in the medical field and to be quite honest, I'm fairly naive about the complications associated with a revision. With that being said, I do believe in the power of prayer...I pray God gives your surgeon and surgical team the skills to perform your revision without any complications and I pray you have a speedy, complication-free recovery!

dawalsh reacted to lisacaron in Wedding dress size questions
@@Christina.Rose have you already ordered your wedding dress in the size 20 and think you might need to take it in up to a 16?
    When is your wedding?
4 sizes is a lot to take in alterations at some point you will end up reconstructing the whole dress. Depending on the time frame for your wedding your gonna want to try and stay pretty consistent in your weight if you can the closer and closer you get.
If you plan to lose a lot of weight right before, try to order the smaller size but maybe an 18 so you can always take it in to a 16 if needed.
Wedding dresses can have complicated sizing depending on the material and the style Aline, Mermaid, etc. Always best to check with the seamstress doing the alterations they know and trust me they won't lie to you just to make you feel good
I got married at my highest weight ever...but I couldn't have been happier and I still love my photo's even as hubby and I have lost over 60 pounds each

I've been smelling the roses for 18 months now! I am a very slow loser but have lost. My ultimate goal is to lose 60 more pounds.i don't care how long it takes as long as I'm following the rules I'll eventually get there! The good news is that I've kept off the weight I have already lost (that's major for me!)Don't worry, you will get there and don't give yourself a time limit. If I have myself a time restraint I would have given up all together. Congratulations on your surgery and good luck to you!

dawalsh got a reaction from PuraVida37 in I've lost 70 pounds, but.....
I used to go to stores that only carried plus size clothes . I 'd look at catalogs and if they didn't carry plus size clothes I recycled them immediately. Now I'm in a pickle because everything just hangs on me. I'm in between sizes as well. Sometimes I can wear a 16, other times it's an 18. I used to buy the clothes and try them on at home when I was in plus sizes. Now I have to try everything on. It is so frustrating but in a good way! Congratulations on your awesome weight loss!

dawalsh got a reaction from PuraVida37 in The Green Zone has FINALLY areived!
Well,, I'm happy to say that after 18 months post op I have finally hit the sweet spot! I thought it would never happen! The last time I felt like this was during the "honeymoon" stage when I was first banded. I have a very conservative doctor when it comes to fills and I have been going religiously every month to get filled. The fact that I told him I would be gone for 6 weeks may have made him give me a bigger fill but I'm not complaining. It's working and I literally cannot eat more than 1/2 cup of food at a time. So I'm hopeful now that I won't have to go every month for a fill. I can truly say I'm doing a "Happy" dance! :-)

I was tight in 18s at the time if surgery, thrilled to go dow to 16 then 14 then 12 and now.....wait for it....10! Ten? Who is this? Meanwhile, scale is not budging. Who cares -- I wear size ten jeans?!!!!
