Another option is Chair Yoga. The positions are modified to be done while sitting in a chair, or using it for support. If you Google chair yoga, a lot of stuff will come up; You Tube videos, dvd's, etc.

Try to look for classes or shows that have modified moves. The instructor at a local fitness center where I'm at does that. She is, of course, in excellent shape, but not everyone in the class is, so she always shows at least 2 or 3 different variations of some of the more complex poses for people who aren't as flexible. Don't give up on it though...yoga is my absolute favorite workout. I have come a really long way since I have started doing it and I can get my body into better positions than some of the smaller ladies in my class. I kind of look at it as an NSV Good luck!

I have been taking EAS as my Protein shake it has 17 grams of Protein this is what my nutritionist recommend. They told me to get the carb control one, I drink the strawberry and rich dark chocolate. At first they wouldn't pass, after two days there pretty good.

I love food but I don't love eating, if that makes sense. I don't think I used to be a foodie pre-band coz I ate so much rubbish. Once I could only eat so little I wanted the food to be AMAZING, otherwise I'd feel like I wasted the small amount of space I had. So I eat good food but for the enjoyment of the taste but not to get full.
Funnily enough though by wanting premium food I actually ate nutritionally better food than when I could eat anything I liked.

Once banded some foods just become off limits. bread is off my list for good. Anything deep fried gives me so much gas its just not worth it. Both of these are not good for me so that helps me lose even more weight.

Yes I have the Lapband without which I would not have had the "success" I am enjoying. I explained this to the author but they wanted to focus on the "work" involved, around nutrition, Exercise and sleep ALSO without which I would not have had the "success". It's really not an either/or (WLS or exercise/food plan) it's a BOTH. I view my Lapband like the glasses I need to read - without my glasses I can't read because my vision is blurry (where others don't need glasses) BUT once I put the glasses on I still have to READ (do the work) the book and comprehend it.

So...I was on vacation last week and was so happy to not just fit into the seat on the plane, but I didn't need the belt extender and I had no problem buckling the belt (I even had to tighten it a little!). Then, I had no problem putting down the armrest. For the first time in years, It wasn't tight, it wasn't riding up on my hip, it just went down...and stayed there. Oh glory!!
I didn't eat or drink anything other than Water but I just had to bring the tray down...and again...it went down and stayed there. I didn't have to move my belly out of the way, I didn't have to worry it wouldn't go down... Oh the happiness of the ordinary!!
I'm even OK with the 1/2 lb. weight gain. I was very aware of portions and did well in that regard but we ate out alot and I know I ate items that were higher in sodium than I usually eat at home so I expect it's probably Water weight. I don't care right now...I was like a regular person on the flight and that is so satisfying.

I just finished up my surgery and I'm sitting in the hospital room trying to eat my "diet" 2 ounces of Water 2 ounces of Jell-O 2 ounces of broth and 1 ounce of apple juice and I can barely get through that I have no desire to eat anything. I'm very sore and my throat hurts from the tube but other than that I'm walking fine used the restroom and should be going home soon.

My hubby got scared. He told me, "don't go getting skinny and decide to leave me!" When I told him I wanted to be skinny so he could pick me up and ravage me against a wall, his tune totally changed!! Funny thing is now that I've lost most of my excess weight, he's suddenly lifting weights! I guess he still has that promise in the back of his mind!! I'm not quite small enough for him to pick me up like that just yet, but I can't wait!!

I have to do two weeks, I am one week in and I can tell you the first 3-4 days are hell, I didn't think I could do it. I'm finishing day six and the last 2-3 days haven't been that bad. The broth, sf Jello and popsicles help. Also, if you have a Kroger, they have sugar free jello squares. I find them good for when I go to the fridge for a snack. You CAN do this and don't let anyone get into your head and tell you that because you cant do this or because you struggle with it you cant be successful! That's bull! Someone told me I should reconsider because I found this so hard. In my opinion if you don't find this hard you don't need the band in the first place. Good luck, you will be fine! When you need food, find something else to do, walk, clean, sleep! Good luck!

It is definitely tough- but I felt better after the 3rd day, it started to be easier on me. The sugar free popsicles were a big help. I found ones that were only 10 calories and they helped me a lot make it through! Keeping busy helps as well....I went to bed early every night too, and that also helped me!

Ok, there are several Clear Liquids. sugar free Jello, clear protien drinks, crystal light, sugar free Popsicle, go on line, I love Amazon for it's diversity of products, secure ordering and delivery. broth, all kinds. You could even open up a can of Soup and strain it. Don't forget about spices. Cinnamon in your tea or coffee etc..
You can do this. Almost all of us had a pre op liquid diet. The first two to three days are tough, it gets easier. A year from now, you will be the one to say this to someone else to pay it forward! Dig down deep girl! Try to see it as a challenge, not an obstacle. Change your internal dialog from I don't think.. To I can do this, just watch me! You are not a quitter!
Try to plan to keep yourself busy, do something you love, a craft, a juicy new book, get up off your bum and move! Keep your mind off of it.
I know you can, as Carolina girl says: if you WANT IT.

    Donna,
Can I cry with you? You are not alone. After every meal, I really, really, want something just a tiny little bit of something sweet to eat. Why is that? I've asked myself for so long. So anyway to take the torment away, I do, just a tiny bit and the desire is gone. So, in the long run, I'm thinking, how bad is it really?
I'm certain the bad comes in when we continue to eat badly. Through this journey, I've been learning that when we don't have enough Protein in our diet, we also want carbs (sweets). That was completely enlightening to me. So, holy cow, am I eating proteing now. And it's working. I even cut out the rice and potatoes with no problem. I'm gluten free so I already don't eat bread. I am seriously craving green beans!!! OMG, who am I?
The docs want you to be busy. As I'm told, "If you are doing, you aren't consuming." Ok, makes sense. They don't care what you are doing, just that we do something. Those closest to us (family), are usually the ones that will hurt us the most. Your mom didn't mean to hurt you, she's offering something that she thinks is the answer. She doesn't understand what your needs are. Big hug here. You will also feel better if you are doing something. Visit the goodwill store see what your imagination can stir up. Jigzaw puzzles. Hot glue gun. We crafters swear crafting is our therapy!
Plan out your meals, load up on the Proteins and veggies; eat those Proteins first. Bridge with those veggies and you are going to feel better in no time. We can do this! karen

HollyJean.. we could be soul sisters.. I was banded in August of 2012 and am stuck at the 35-40 lbs lost mark and have been for several months.. I have scheduled myself to get another fill in a few weeks and hope this will help, I have 8cc's in my 14 cc band... I am NOT giving up... I gave up for too many years and watched the weight creep up. I kept telling myself that I was supposed to be fat.. it was in my genes... well I want to wear smaller JEANS!!! so I am not giving up!!

I totally agree with Dawn. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. Yes I meant to yell. So quit thinking that way. The failure is your doctor. The amount needed for restriction varies from patient to patient. I would suggest going back to your doctor and demand a fill with x-ray so he & you can see how much restriction you have (or don't have). Remember the doctor works for you, you are the customer and right now you are getting crappy customer service.
You are not failing, you have a tool that has not been tuned up correctly. If your doctor will not do as you ask then I would get another doctor.
    Good luck to you.

Sorry you are struggling as this journey isn't easy. I do have a few comments for you.

You aren't a failure, you just need to find your way. If you haven't given up, you haven't failed.
Find a new doctor that is supportive of you and will work with you. No, the band is not supposed to do all the work and is not meant to keep you from eating; it is a tool to curb your hunger between meals. It does seem like you could benefit from a fill (or two) and being "half full" doesn't mean the band is really effective for you yet. I know some people that are at almost 80% and just now feeling like they are "in the zone".
Please understand the band is a tool. You do need to modify your eating habits as well. There are a lot of great threads on here with suggestions but I would first suggest meeting with a dietician that works with lapbanders to get realistic expectations and a plan for how you should be eating. There are things you can do for you to make this easier and to help you get back on track. Certain foods I can eat unlimited quantities of and want more, others really satisfy me and I eat a quarter of what I might eating other things. (Starting my meals w/ 3-4 ounces of Protein, then veggies, etc really helps).
    You CAN do this.

Well, I made it to work this morning but not without a pain pill to get me to a comfortable stage to where I can sit for 8 hours at my desk. I had to place a small pillow on my stomach under my seat belt but that worked out ok for the 50 minute drive. I will be getting up and down several times during the day and going on small walks. Feeling pretty good all but the many hot flashes I am having. I guess that will go away after my body comes out of shock from the surgery. All in all, looking forward to what is to come!!! Not really minding the all Fluid liquid diet.< /p>
