  1. I have one of those too. I guess I'll start to use it. They just said, this is for you. they never told me why? or I was still foggy enough to not remember it.
  2. Wow, what a great thread. I am only 3 days post op. I am experiencing some slime in my mouth. Kind of like I feel like I'm going to just let loose. is this normal? Pat
  3. Wow, alot of good information here. I guess if you keep in mind that it is just a tool it is a trial and error system. Pat
  4. It's Mr. Pat ( I like that NJ CHICK, Thanks!) Thank you all for your care and concern. The surgery was very uneventful, that's a good thing..The only thing that worried me was going under. My doctor apparently told the anestesia doctor about me, when she came in to the pre op area, she said, good morning, you are the nervous one, Huh? Everything was fine. I was in recovery within two hours and home by 2:45. I do not remember really much about post op including coming home. I was still foggy. It's scary to have a 6'5" foggy person on the loose. I was on a 2 day pre-op clear liquid and onclear liquids for 2 days post op and down 16 pounds. The only things going on now is when I burp, It hurts. almost like the gas goes down, hits a wall ( band I think) and then comes out. and oh my gosh, my breath! I think I came out of surgery as a dragon. It comes out of my pores. I am now on gas-x strips, listorene strips and sugar free mints. nothing helps. I heard something about ketones in the stomach and it is not my breath. I don't know. That's all for now. Pat, aka...Mr. Pat
  5. Thanks Jeff, Today I feel better. The only problem I'm having is when I burp..or try to burp it feels like the gas goes down, hits a wall (hurts) then comes out. Ouch, How ever, between the pre-band liquid diet, and the liquids after I am down 16 pounds. Pat
  6. Hi Ana, I am 2 days post op and I had to do clear liquids for two days before. By the second day anger hit. I got through it by constantly sipping crystal light and water. I went crazy, and was tired of broth until I bought organic broth for the hey of it. It was a little more expensive, but I was willing to try anything. The taste was so different, I actually felt like I was eating chicken. Pat
  7. hey guys, Well, all that worry for nothing. Wow, no regrets... The whole thing took less than two hours, start to clean-up. I was home by 3pm. My biggest problem is gas from the co2. It seems whatever they had in me wore off. How long should I be sore under my left rib from the port? How did everyone else recently banded make out? Thanks, Pat

  11. Hi all, This is Lorraine, Pat's wife. I'm writing to say that Pat is home and feeling ok. His surgery went well and aside from the terrible gas pains, he is feeling better than expected. Good luck to those who were banded today and to those getting it done tomorrow. We are hoping this is the start of a healthy new lifestyle change for our family. He's officially in band-land. Lorraine

  18. My doctor wanted me to be on a two day clear liquid diet before surgery. This is day 1 at 1:30pm and I'm ready to eat the table. Wood has protien, right? It has to be better with a 1/2 oz stomach, because this will put me on a five day clear liquid diet including surgery day. Pat
  19. Dear Panda, Congratulations... Good luck tomorrow. I get banded tuesday. My nerves are also pumping.... but in the end the results will make you forget you even have nerves. pat
  20. Hi Danielle, Welcome... My name is Pat and I am new here also. My banding will take place one week from Tuesday on the 3rd. I jst went through the process and this is how it went for me. I have BCBS POs and they needed a letter from my PCP and a referral to the doctor. The Doctors office requires a psych and nutrition eval which is also needed for BCBS, then finally, your doctor will call for an authorization # for surgery. I did all my stuff in the same day. I hope this helps. pat
  21. Hi Jenn, How is your friend doing? What kind of post op discomfort were they in? Nerves are a funny thing, Huh? Pat
  22. What a great idea! listing all of us who are having surgery this month. Wow, my nerves are having a party, and I am automatically invited. Just one correction in the list it says "squale ( Dave)" for whatever it's worth it's "squale (Pat)" Good luck to all, we are a wonderful support for each other and joining this board is the best decision I have ever made. Pat
  23. I'm anxious about giving it up. I drink diet, but get tired of water pretty quickly.
  24. Thanks, Seppi, I have my three hour class on Thursday... I can't imagine what can take three hours. Heck, my process from meeting the doctor for the first time, to getting all my approvals just about took three hours. What should I expect? Do you have any questions that you would make sure you ask if you were going through this, knowing what you know now? Did that make sense? Oh well, It's 11:41pm, If that last line didn't make sense, I blame it on the time. Pat
  25. Hi to all. I'm Pat and I got the insurance acceptance call today from Dr. Abkin's office. I live in Western, NJ and am 34 years old. Basically, I come from a fat family. My mother had GB two years ago and has done really well with it. My wife struggles with her weight, and we don't want this life for our three daughters. My girls are ages 3, 1 and 1 and they keep us busy, but I wish I had more energy to run around with them. I'm doing this surgery for them and for myself and for my wife. Nerves are starting to get me after getting my insurance acceptance. I'm scared of not getting off of the table and leaving my family...This is normal, right? I've been lurking on this board lately and have already gained so much insight from all of you. My surgery is April 3rd. I also did not need a pre op diet. No one mentioned it, so I didn't ask! All I was told was to try not to gain any more weight. I would love to here from everyone. Pat
