  1. Catfish is so right... don't stress about it.. Just get back to it.. we have all had weak moments and that is why we have had weight issues.. just remember you now have a tool to help you through it. read posts on here and feel free to ask questions.. We are here and have had the same problems...
  2. I like muscle milk , lean shakes from GNC and pure protein.. I don't do a lot of them unless I get a fill.. but sometimes if I'm in a rush I will drink one for breakfast....
  3. Sharpie commented on Johnny99's blog entry in Johnny99's Blog
you are hysterical... please keep posting.. it makes this journey better to handle...
  4. you look so happy... I know I am almost to the 50 lb mark and I am thrilled... I only have 2.5 cc in my band but I am steadily losing 1 - 2 lbs a week... I am hoping to get to my goal before the end of the year. My Dr. says it will slow as I get smaller... keep up the good work..
  5. good job... I was banded in January and I have lost 45 lbs so you are ahead of me... concentrate on your positves.. like boxing up clothes that are too big....be good to yourself...
  6. Great job ... my first outing after surgery was a birthday dinner in a steak house.. at that point I could only eat some mashed potatoes and applesauce.. everybody knew about my surgery and I wasn't embarrassed at all...
  7. my Dr. said shower if you don't let the water hit your incisions.. leave those steri strips alone... and just let them fall off.. mine actually didn't fall off but when I went back for my post op check the P.A. took them off...
  8. Great job... I know you must be so pleased with yourself... you are on the down side now.. keep on going..
  9. I take B12, Vitamin D and a multivitamin... you are still in the healing stage so rest and drink...
  10. 100 lbs in that amt of time is really something... I didn't realize that would be possible... My Dr. says 1-2 lbs a week is normal... was that 100 lbs from the date of surgery or includes your pre-op diet? I am just floored when I see those kind of numbers...makes me think I am doing something wrong..
  11. getting comfortable post op is a temporary problem.. in a few days you will be able to return to your normal sleeping mode.. I had a recliner and a pillow for my stomach... it didn't take too long before I was okay on my side...
  12. I think they have chicken tortilla soup.. which is high protein, low cal...they also have some good lower calorie meals.. marked on the menu...
  13. concentrate on healing.. like tmf says it's not sweat right now not getting protein in... you will be able to get protein drinks in soon.. you can always add protein to your water if necessary... rest, drink and don't over do...
  14. I have eaten at Red Robin a few times. They have some good options to burgers on their menu.. their chicken tortilla soup is great.. they also have wraps ... I think you did great... eating out isn't as difficult as I thought it would be, just making good choices and portion control are the key...
  15. I had a Upper GI before surgery... not sure if that would have shown your issue though... I hope you are able to go through with your surgery as planned.. perhaps a specialist would help. Don't give up....
  16. yep I track my calories now and I had surgery in Jan... I hate the word diet too but I'm really happy that the band allows me to eat healthy... I don't feel deprived but I am determined to maintain a healthy weight and not get back into bad habits...
  17. I don't live in Valdosta but near Live Oak... we have monthly support meeetings here... I had my surgery in Gainesville , Fl... hopefully you can find some other bandsters in your area...
  18. yep we have had a mild Summer here in North Florida.. my hubby keeps our house cold.. since losing weight I am freezing.. my feet are like ice... I have to wear socks to bed at night... I go outside too to warm up... it is warm today about 90 but it's raining so it will cool off....
  19. I think it's part of the addiction... I also did that in prior attempts to lose.. If the scale didn't read the right # I would go on a binge.. If people said oh you're doing good with your weight loss, I somehow took that to mean go ahead and eat...I think it's a fear of failure or success not sure which... maybe a psychologists can figure it out.. however, since being banded I am in more control than ever before.. You can do it.. just concentrate on your victories and imagine yourself in a new smaller outfit... work food is the worse.. I am lucky I don't have to face that anymore.. I work at home but I have managed to keep the bad stuff to a minimum...
  20. I told my family and best friend... then as time has gone by and I have visably lost a good deal of weight, I have decided to be honest and tell people what I had and why. I have had good responses. I have had a few people who are interested in the lapband for themselves... I have always been taught that honesty is the best policy.. it's like that Sharon Osbourne going on TV and claiming Adkins Diet products are the reason she has lost weight.. She had a lapband years ago... from what I understand. Star Jones had bypass but never admitted it for a long time.. it made people mad that she was dishonest or evasive.. It's your call but try not to worry too much about what other people think... it's your life and your health.. at your age you have a tremendous opportunity to live a good and normal life for many years... Good Luck and take care of yourself...
  21. smaller clothes are a real nsv... I love to see these posts... you are doing great. keep it up.. cross fit training is awesome.. wish my old knees would allow me to do it.. I have to stick with my treadmill for now...
  22. thought about you yesterday,, while at the supermarket (Publix) I saw Artic Freeze Ice Cream.. it's sugar free, gluten free, low calories.. 75 for a 1/2 cup... not bad.. now I had to buy some to try.. it comes in 1 pt.. I got the chocolate /peanut butter.. both my favorite flavors... it was okay, not ben and jerry's or haagen daz but pretty good... kinda pricey $4.59/pt... but if you have a hankering for ice cream give it a try.
  23. fantastic... keep on going...
  24. fat free food has a lot of sugar... they replace the fat with sugar..look at all labels.. my nutritionists suggest we eat 10% protein ratio to calories.. in other words if it's 120 calories you should have 12 gms protein... of course after banding you should not drink soda of any kind diet or otherwise.. like steph and maddysgram said eating protein is the key..
  25. I have been to other sites and it's way worse than on here... everyone on here seems to be pretty decent.. there are some rude comments here and there and like all humans we react sometimes without thinking... take the good stuff and try to stay positive and motivated.. you will need all of that after your surgery.. but, in the end it's about you and how you are going to work on your health and well being.. take care of yourself and the rest will work out...
