  1. great story.. keep on going,.. Your kids are so luck you made that decision.. I just got out of the pool with my 7 year old grandaughter.. we played marco polo and had noodle races.. 50 lbs ago I would have just been watching.. She loves it that Grammy can play with her now....
  2. fantastic job keep it up
  3. Just got back from my week long vacation in Colorado at the Dude Ranch... First I will say that 50 lbs ago I could not have done what I just did last week... I rode horses all day up and down the mountains.. We drove cattle, camped overnight in the mountains after riding 4 hours to get to the "cow camp"... The whole experience was very physical... walking to the barn each day was something I could not have done 50 lbs ago... I did gain a few lbs because the food was awsome but I didn't pig out.. They have everything to eat you would want... fruit, salads, breads, lots of beef (western) the best... fish and wonderful desserts.. I did not over indulge but I wasn't deprived.. I have lost the lbs I gained in just a few days.. (never could have done that before the band)....
  4. just got back from Colorado.. no problems with flying.. band did not set off alarms and it did not tighten while flying... I did gain 2 lbs while gone but considering we ate like Kings and I even drank a few beers..(lol) I am happy with that little bit of a gain.. I decided to not worry too much while I was gone.. had a great time riding in the Rockies on horses.. it was really beautiful there... I am back on track have already lost a lb.
  5. I tell the truth.. it keeps me accountable... I tell people that I had WLS to save my life... It may encourage other people to face their obesity and do something to help themselves...
  6. Have been diabetic for years.. now I no longer take any medication for diabetes, blood pressure is down to normal and my cholesterol medication has been reduced to 1/2 ...
  7. woo hoo hot mama... wonderful job... you should be proud and I know the Y will get a good response to your story...
  8. You look wonderful... good job...
  9. My Dr. says liquids for 2 days after a fill.. no matter how small the fill is I would think you would have some swelling ... try sipping small amounts of liquids.. in a few days graduate to shakes and creamy stuff.. give your stomach and band time to adjust..If nothing else call your Dr. and tell them what is going on..better safe than sorry..
  10. I would like to nominate Carolina Girl.. I have gotten so much motivation and laughter from her blog.. She started at a very high weight and has lost over 100 lbs..She is still losing and still blogging...I look forward to seeing her featured in the newsletter.
  11. Husband loves Texas Pete.. I am partial to Tabasco.. They are one of my biggest customers.. I sell ingredients to them... They are wonderful people too...
  12. It's all good things.. buying a bra is such a pain... I used to wear Wacoal bra's because they were so much more comfortable than regular bra's.. now I can wear about anything .. going from 44D to 38C so far is a blessing.. I am starting to enjoy shopping more .. It's great to read about other folks and their NSV's it keeps me on track.. Good luck @ Kohl's.. we don't have one here.

wow what a totally different experience than my fills.. I've only had two and my Dr. does them.. so easy .. no pain nothing.. he gives me a cup of water and waits to see if I can get it down.. when I feel it in my throat he withdraws some of the fluid until I am comfortable again.. I can't imagine what she was doing to you that felt like a pap ???? where is your port? 4 cc is a big fill for the first fill... so far I only have 2 cc's I was banded in Jan...
  14. oh yes the self sabotage thing is there... I have lost 50 lbs and need to lose about 20-25 more but for some reason I am stalled.. seems to be a point where I've been before in my struggle to lose weight.. I am in hopes that this time I won't ruin it.. I am avoiding sweets and doing very little carbs.. counting my calories on Myfitness pal but I have to believe that if I continue doing what I am supposed to it will work.. We all have been there and I hope you will overcome the sabotage and move on...
  15. I get so sad for some of these poor girls especially the "big bliss" ladies.. I see such cruel things said to them by people who are supposed to love them.. Makes you think about no wonder they have weight issues...
  16. yes there are billions of dollars spent on diet gimmicks .. wonder what this would due to your tongue after awhile>? I know I tried all kinds of stuff, including shots, pills, water pills, weight watchers, nutrisystem, etc. nothing was effective long term.. so far me and my band are doing fine and I am hoping this will be my long term answer.. I'm loving life ..I have about 20-25 more lbs to lose...
  17. reheat with microwave or cover your plate in between bites with a lid or plate.. I especially hate cold eggs so I cover my plate .. I use eggbeaters and just can't stand them cold... other foods are okay cool.
  18. Your weight will not melt off instantly ... and you need to heal first then worry about how much you are losing.. If you follow your Dr's instructions and make sure you drink alot you will lose but average losses are 1-2 lbs a week.. I know I was surprised that it didn't come off quicker too but according to my Dr. it's a better way to lose slowly... I used Milk of Mag for relief of constipation. there are lots of products that will solve that problem...
  19. I haven't heard of them but I know there are so many gimmicks out there it's crazy.. I tried a bunch of stuff from shots to pills to hcg the only thing I never tried was Sensa.. but I had thought about it when I finally said to hell with all of that and decided to get the band.. sooooo happy I did .. down 50 lbs and feel great... I'm on the downside and ready to live a good healthy life again..
  20. come on now.. you are on the downside... just because people don't say anything doesn't mean they don't notice... at first people would say wow you are looking great,, now they are used to me being thinner so not too many comments.. Did you do this to get other people's attention, I doubt it.. you did it for yourself.. so keep on going and ignore the rest of it..
  21. I hope you had a wonderful day.. congrats on losing 80 lbs...
  22. yes walking is the best thing to do... or swimming if you have access to a pool..
  23. yes I lost thousands of lbs and regained them too. the band has helped me lose and keep it off... I have not gained a lb since being banded..I hope after I reach my goal I will continue to keep it off.. with the band I have more confidence that I can..
  24. My husband said something the other day like "Are you still losing weight?".. I said yes I am but it's my problem not yours.. don't bug me about this .. I don't bug you about smoking (which I hate). so you just let me do this wihtout any judgement or comments.. he quickly apologized and said he was just wondering since I hadn't said anything lately.. truth is I don't want to jinx myself.. there have been so many diets and "programs" in the past where I failed and I don't want to fail at this... keep your head up and don't worry about it.. Like they say revenge will be when you are happy , healthier and thin..
  25. I have put them in protein shakes.. they are high in potassium which is good for you.. but they do have a fair amount of sugar which might trigger cravings.. but like someone said.. you can eat what your band will tolerate within reason..
