    November 2012 unite

Hi, I was banded in November 2012 too. I am sorry you feel like the band has not worked as well as you would have liked. Did they say it was placed in the wrong spot will they fix it for you? I am happy it has taken me 11 months to get to the green zone but I feel like my serving size and hunger levels are about right now - until then I just had to diet. I have 8.5ml in my 10ml band I have taken the last few fills very slowly 0.2 and 0.1 fills to inch close to the green. I have lost 65 pounds since the band and 30pounds pre-band . My weight loss has been slow some months I lost nothing but I averaged out at 5 pounds per month and I am happy with that. I workout 5 days a week and am wearing a US size 8. I still have 24 pounds to my goal weight but I am happy to finish that off slowly in with healthy eating and working out. I completely cut out sweet stuff this year and only have eaten cake on my birthday! Its taking my mind awhile to catch up with the weight loss I still feel huge and all I can see if my big belly and thighs but I know that going from 275 to 180 is a big change....its going to take me some time to catch up...

    exercising while sick?

If you are sick from the neck up - stuffy nose go for it. It will help clear you out and if its below the neck on your chest take it easy. I agree if I feel something coming on a run for me kicks it right out of my system!

    STOKED

Great isn't it! I am always like wooooo hoo!!!! I only ate a quarter then come the questions was everything ok with your food - can I have the chef come out and talk to you no..... nooooo......noooo ..... nooooo. I am just a lapband genius thank you
  9. Hi Heather, I worked out pre-band a lot. So when I was cleared for workouts I went back to what I was doing. Did you workout before....? To be honest my stomach really jumped around right after surgry at 245 but no more than normal. It still does it today in the 180's! I was worried too as I do a lot of yoga including full back bends and I was worried I was going to pop the port off and he laughed at me and said dont you worry it's not going to move...... I would check again if your worried but don't use your band as a workout excuse! I have plenty of them already . Trust your new body it's going to be awesome! Good luck with your journey!

    Gym time

Agreed how can you be the best wife or mother if your unhealthy, unhappy and unfit? Surely if you can be the best YOU you can be the best wife and mother you can be.....
  11. After 5 fills I still get hunger pains!!! I know some people never get them but I do

    Gym time

I hate to say it but you gotta be selfish. Trust me when your healthier, hotter and happier he will understand my hubby pushes me outta the door now. Better that than the tori that sat on the sofa eating pizza and ice cream feeling depressed and having a breakdown when I couldn't find anything to wear........

hungry.. feel like i eat too much

Hi, It's totally normal! I am afraid you will feel this way for awhile. It's time to put on your big pants and diet. Some people are lucky enough to be in the green zone on the first fill but others (like me) needed many more. I was banded in November and am still not in the green zone. However I diet eat right and exercise most days it's hard work but I would be more pissed now if I didn't take my health into my hands and have dropped weight at this point. I still get hungry and can eat bad foods but I don't. It's hard work and the band is a tool that can help you when it kicks in it just takes time. Good luck!
  14. We have similar stats I started 275 and now I am 186.....it's weird isn't it??? Some days I am sooooo happy and am happy with my band life salads fish etc and 6 days a week at the gym.....but sometimes it all feels like a lot of work like Groundhog Day over and over! This wont be forever - I am 25 pounds from goal and wearing size 10/12 already so I am hoping not too far to go. I keep my short term goals in mind and keep moving forward. I think once your back on normal food you will feel better....it's hard to live on liquids. I bet once you go onto normal you will feel better. I try and eat low cab but have what I want just a smaller serve than normal. Maybe you need some foodspiration cook something yummy and healthy? I have stuffed peppers and baked eggplant cooking right now I will not eat tons but its yummy food that is healthy too. ..... Good luck

I say quite alot - and then crack a joke like I am really hungry do you have any snacks....normally makes people laugh and they move on...

    Wow some people...!!!

Hi - Have you ever heard the saying it’s not about you? I can remember back to being 270 pounds and literally feeling crushed by my weight. I hated how I looked and felt I was so unhappy. Sometimes a friend or family member would lose weight and it was a reminder of everything I couldn’t do. It was heart breaking. I was happy for them of course BUT sometimes due to the shame I felt it was hard to show. I see it now with friends that are heavy and even my sister. I am in the 180's now they smile but I see in their eyes the disappointment they feel about themselves. So give your friend a break - you’re the one happier and healthier. Think about how she must be feeling. On a personal note I have told a couple of people about my band BUT I always tell people that are heavy and struggling with weight. That's my choice but if we have spent the last 10 years talking about dieting I wanted to be honest with them.

I have flavored Vodka like absolute mango and soda water with a slice of lemon or orange about 70 calories a drink

    Horrible candy craving!!!

I discribe sugar like a monkey on my back. The more I feed that monkey the tighter it holds on and the more it wants. When I got the band I decided to get rid of that craving that was holding me down and making me sick. I stopped eating sugar, chocolate, cakes Etc the day I started my pre-op diet and it was HARD but now it's so easy. I don't crave or want candy any more and it's such a liberating experience. I was addicted so I had to go cold turkey and it was hard but am so happy I made this a priority. I do sometimes have Greek yogurt and fruit if I need a sweet snack or some other type of fruit but the cravings have gone. Good luck with whatever works for you. ((Hug))

This is my next goal! CONGRATS
  23. Hello, Not sure why this is coming up underlined! I hit the U button but I cant turn it off... sorry! I have not posted in a while just been moving forward with my weight loss journey. I was banded at the end of November 2012 and to date I have lost around 60pounds. I have stayed the same weight for two months. I still have 40 pounds to lose. I have a 10ml band and right now I have 8.2ml in it. I am searching for the green zone and am feeling like I may never get there. I hear people say when you get there you know it… but I am starting to think that maybe I am searching for something that I won’t find. Here are some of the things I notice: My band has never restricted what I eat - I could always eat more by stop myself. I can gulp Water Eat in the morning no problems Chicken/salad/bread not an issue I am still hungry probably like 3 hours after I eat. I do workout 6 days a week a mix of running, spinning, weight training etc so maybe that is affecting my hunger? I don’t want to keep getting fills – I know the amount is irrelevant but my fill is getting pretty high up there. I don’t have issues with reflux or eating anything. I sometimes get stuck if I eat too fast. My question is do I do a Fluid check? Are there people out there with more than 8.2ml fill. Should I keep trying to get to green or am I there…? THANK YOU!
  24. I wanted to that you ALL for your advice. I am going to continue to tweak up but stay plugged into my band and hunger levels to make sure I am not missing the signs. I am trying but my serving sizes are down to me to control right now and sometimes that's hard! I cant eat a HUGE serving just a normal size....fingers crossed.
