exercising while sick?

i have a cold and a slight fever should I be attempting to work out still? just wondering because I heard somewhere I think it was from bob on the biggest loser that being sick is your bodys way of telling you to rest... and if I shouldn't work out what does this mean for insanity? do I pick up where I left off or do I restart from the beginning?

If you feel up to it, just take it slow and pay attention to your body's signals. Walking for a few minutes is still activity even if it's not an intense workout, so that may be a good place to start. Resting is ok, too! Sometimes the activity will make you feel better, sometimes worse, so just go slow.

thanks!

I work out as long as I don't have a fever , then I rest

A gym rat friend of mine makes a point of working out when he feels a cold coming on. He seems to think it thwarts it and I believe he's right. As long as you don't have a fever or feel light headed, go ahead and work up a sweat to get those toxins out.

If you are sick from the neck up - stuffy nose go for it. It will help clear you out and if its below the neck on your chest take it easy. I agree if I feel something coming on a run for me kicks it right out of my system!
