bethcav got a reaction from mrsto in Synthroid and Weight Loss
Yes my dose changed abt a month after the surgery. I had been on 188 for long time prior to losing weight. I'm a nurse in my pcps office so I told her how I felt and it was low (its opposite for tsh levels when nbrs are low means getting to much and nbrs are high not enough) it took months to get it back to normal because u have to slowly lower dose and then repeat bloodwork in a month. I m have been on synthroid for 13 years and I know my bodys reaction when to low or high. As you continue to lose pls get bloodwork at least every two months. If you aren't getting enough it will slow your weight loss.

My dose had to be adjusted shortly after surgery. I felt just like you jittery and had heart palpitations. I know that's a symptom for me that my dose is to high. I was on 188 mcg and went to 175 then finally 150 mcg what I've been on since I'm maintaining. I felt horrible and my tsh was so off it took a good few months to get back to normal. Make sure u get blood work and have Dr adjust accordingly.

Some people I tell and others I don't. Although I have had a lot of people ask if I was "sick". Hmmm and then I felt compelled to say that I had lapband. After thinking about how to respond to that question the next time someone asked me if I was sick I said yes I was sick of being FAT!!!!

You should ask your pcp to run some blood work. TSH ( thyroid), vit d level, cbc to ck your Iron level. Even though we shouldn't be Vitamin deficient since we asorb our nutrients you may want to get checked for those. Hope you feel better soon.

It may be shocking, but Chick-A-Filet has a GREAT bandster sized healthy meal. Their kids' chicken nugget meal. It's 4 unbreaded baked chicken nuggets. You can get applesauce for a side as part of the meal, too.
When I was traveling down south last summer, this meal was my savior in a sea of horrible fast food. The chicken is seasoned and tastes really good, too.

You can TOTALLY do this and you'll be so glad you did. It is far better to be alone than to be lonely with someone else. Quite honestly, being single can be a wonderful and freeing experience, especially after a bad marriage.
My divorce was final in November 2012 and I had Lap Band surgery less than 2 months later in January 2012. Fast forward to now, 14 months later, I've lost 195 pounds and have an amazing new boyfriend who loves and supports me on this weight loss journey completely.
Best wishes to a wonderful, happy future!

I have been fat all of my life, I remember as a freshman in High School wrestling varsity heavy weight which had a top limit of 230 and how I had to struggle to stay under that limit. I fought my weight all through my adult life finally ending up at 324 in my early 40's. Finally joining WW and getting back down into the 280's in the late 90's. In 2005 I had knee surgery and was back up to the wrong side of 300, so I went back to WW and after 8 months of hard work I got down to 250 where I stalled. I finally got down to 249.8 and then started putting weight back on.
That number 249.8 has always been a magical number to me since then, but I have never been able to come close to it, let alone pass it. This morning the scale read 249.4 (even got on and off the scale twice because I couldn't believe it).
My next goal? Under 230 so that I can qualify for Heavy Weight high school wresting again!
For people who care about the particulars, I am shooting for 1300 calories a day, although that fluctuates. I am exercising 3-4 times a week, I am eating (for the most part) my exercise calories). I am not tracking my carbs, but I am not eating a lot of them. I still have a Protein Shake (with blended fruit) for Breakfast each day. I am avoiding bread, Pasta and rice, not because I can't eat them, (My band doesn't prevent me from eating anything) but because I view them as empty calories. And I generally eat 4 1/2 - 3/4 cup meals a day. So I am basically following the rules my Dr. laid down for me.

Oh number 1 how i have missed you!!! it felt FABULOUS to see the weight of 199 this morning???ƒ I set 2 goals during my preop stage. 1) see a "1" at the beginning of my weight ...I have not seen this since my thyroid went crazy 11 years ago 2) weigh less than my husband....I have never weighed less than my husband, not even while dating. So goal #1 is now complete & I am 20lbs away from goal #2!!!

But if you're hungry only 30 minutes after eating, then you do need a fill or something done to fix your band placement because the band doesn't have enough Fluid in it to control your hunger. It's like not having a band at all if you can only go a half hour before you're hungry again.
I understand there's an issue with the shape of your stomach, but how much is in your band? Has your doctor tried very little fill amounts? Even a fill as small as .1cc can make a difference.
To be real honest, if I were in your shoes, I would seek out another bariatric surgeon for a second opinion. Something just doesn't sound right at all. A good bariatric surgeon wouldn't let their patient go with a poorly fit band that isn't doing them any good.
