For those of you who are into pinterest...there are some good recipes for lapbanders. Just search "lapband" and you'll find quite a few recipe boards. Something to look at. And interesting as well.

Ditto...I felt the same way. I'm also self pay (Ontario Canada), kinda left not really knowing a whole lot, muddled through leaflets and an online site for their clinic, hoped I wasn't making any mistakes...that was 6 months ago. I pick and choose what I want to read on here and who I trust to give good info...there are quite a few who always give good advise, and some who just say the same old same old. I could've asked lots of questions and made phone calls to the clinic, they really are a great bunch, I figured I could figure it out myself..and I was fine with it all. It's really common sense. Don't know where my common sense was before my surgery, somehow I found it afterwards and of course the lapband sure has been great for me. Ive lost close to 50 lbs, feel great and am in constant contact with the clinic. You'll do fine, you'll be fine. You'll need a bit of patience and you'll need to be kind to yourself for a bit but you'll get through it. June 20th, my birthday, nothing ever goes wrong on my birthday! Take care and all the best...speedy recovery!

    Tiny1234 reacted to nina874 in 1 week post-op!! Questions???
Take painkillers and dont try to bluster through it. Avoid shaking the duvet out and things like that for a good couple of weeks and remember you have had surgery, dont be too hard on yourself. The burping is probably a combo of the gas pain from the keyhole and your tummy getting used to its new situation, and dont forget they move things out of the way to get to your stomach when they do the surgery, a little bit of bruising on your diaphragm is not uncommon. Hope you feel better soon and start to enjoy the benefits that your new best friend will bring to you

Sorry to hear that you are struggling. Please don't take offense to this but I do think you might want to seek the help of a professional. A therapist might be able to give you some tips for coping with your emotions and how to deal with all the changes in your life.
Hugs and only wish the best for you!!!

And you are ashamed why? One of the hardest truths that is shouted on this board is that the band doesn't cure our head hunger. So...
Stop being ashamed (useless emotion in dealing with eating issues).
Figure out what is triggering this.
    Work on changing it.
Find someone that you can be truthful with (Not your mother), talk with them each morning about whether you did or didn't closet eat. Be truthful, or don't bother.
Sorry to approach this from a male point of view

Tiny1234 got a reaction from PrettyThick1 in Surgery on Thursday.... What else do i Need to buy to prepare?
Exactly, don't overbuy.. And exactly, a heating pad was my best friend.. You're probably not going to feel like eating(drinking) too much at first but really strive to get the Water into you, small sips. I was worried that I wasn't drinking enough, even though I was sipping a bit every half an hour or so. Don't stress, take it easy, walk a bit, and relax, enjoy the beginning of the new you. Scary though, eh? Everyone goes through a little something at first. If you have any issues or questions pls don't hesitate to call your dr's office..they're the best to give you advise since they know you best. best of luck!

The band will not stop you from eating more than a cup. The point is for you to feel satisfied/satiated with just a cup or less.
I was a low BMI patient too. I had only lost about 32 lbs 6 months into my journey. I finally reached the green zone but I kept getting stuck so I had some saline removed. Now I know that I was not eating correctly. I thought I was chewing my food enough, I thought my bites were small enough, I was wrong. Learning to eat correctly is one of the most difficult things for a bandster to do.
For some of us, feeling, sensing or understanding what satiation truly is, can take months or even years to fully develop and understand. It does sound like you may be too tight but ask yourself this? Can you eat Soups? Soups like progresso or campbells chicken with noodles or beef and barley? If you can down soups but can't eat normal foods, you may not be eating like a bandster. Because, eating like a bandster means the food you chew is similar in consistency to Soup as it hits your pouch.

SO true! I can't speak for anyone else on this site, or anywhere else....but I will never be perfect! I can be damn good, but I spent too many years in therapy to let go of the drive and need for "perfection". A little over eating here & there; I can live with it. As long as it's not a regular practice.
So Terry - what was for lunch? I hope it was gooooood

No, I don't think you're overreacting. We all want to be validated and then when someone you trust with your health is anything but positive, well, it just doesn't feel very good. A little deflated. Don't let him get to you, you've done great even with the port flip. Soon you'll be right back at it and then you'll show him! Chin up!
