    Lost my way

I so understand what you're saying. I too had lost my way and am now trying to get back on track. Banded in 2012 and did great until the passing of my dad in 2013. It totally devestated me. But now it's time to start looking after my physical self again. Here's to a great summer of eating healthy, walking and success on our weight loss journey.

Ready to Get Back On Track

Ditto, ditto, ditto...same issues. Meds for anxiety, arthritis, lost 40 lbs, put 30 back on. Soooo need to get back on track. Death in family 2 years ago did a real number on me. I'm ready to get back to looking after myself. Spring is here, sun is shining,. I haven't checked into this website for a couple of years. No regrets just time to get my sh* t together!! Good luck to you all.

    November 2012 Bandsters

Hi there, banded nov 28...lost 40'ish lbs. started approx 265. Feel great. Looking to lose 20 more by end of year, no pressure though. I eat healthier and move more so only good things to come. I'm more interested in how my clothes fit rather than what the scales say. I've never regretted my decision to have LB surgery. Good luck to everyone.

    Non scale victory.
  9. Ditto...I felt the same way. I'm also self pay (Ontario Canada), kinda left not really knowing a whole lot, muddled through leaflets and an online site for their clinic, hoped I wasn't making any mistakes...that was 6 months ago. I pick and choose what I want to read on here and who I trust to give good info...there are quite a few who always give good advise, and some who just say the same old same old. I could've asked lots of questions and made phone calls to the clinic, they really are a great bunch, I figured I could figure it out myself..and I was fine with it all. It's really common sense. Don't know where my common sense was before my surgery, somehow I found it afterwards and of course the lapband sure has been great for me. Ive lost close to 50 lbs, feel great and am in constant contact with the clinic. You'll do fine, you'll be fine. You'll need a bit of patience and you'll need to be kind to yourself for a bit but you'll get through it. June 20th, my birthday, nothing ever goes wrong on my birthday! Take care and all the best...speedy recovery!

    1 year post op

Beautiful inside and out, you're truly an inspiration and a very wise woman. It's been nice getting to know you through this forum.
  11. Down'omer, eh, I chewed gum because of same issue, protein drinks can leave a nasty after taste. Oh, and I drank lots of water as well. Best of luck to you, gotta love a Newfoundlander!

    Question

USA has much better selection than what I can find around here. (I'm also from Ontario). I did find some nice protein powder at Popeyes, low in carbs and sugar and high in protein. I always make a protein smoothie for breakfast so am always on the lookout for good protein powder. I'm heading to USA this weekend and have been making notes along the way of protein powders that I see noted here, so will be loading up before I come home. Much more flavour variety, not just chocolate and vanilla. Blah, boring.

What do you have after fills?

Only 68 pounds? Hey, thats 2 children, you've done well and should congratulate yourself. I'm a slow loser as well, but I'm losing and I'm just fine with that. High five! Continued success.

my band baby is here :)

Oh wow, how beautiful! I love his little smile..he's just gorgeous. Glad all went well for you, and he shares his birthday with my husband! Congrats and enjoy the little one.
  16. Exactly, don't overbuy.. And exactly, a heating pad was my best friend.. You're probably not going to feel like eating(drinking) too much at first but really strive to get the water into you, small sips. I was worried that I wasn't drinking enough, even though I was sipping a bit every half an hour or so. Don't stress, take it easy, walk a bit, and relax, enjoy the beginning of the new you. Scary though, eh? Everyone goes through a little something at first. If you have any issues or questions pls don't hesitate to call your dr's office..they're the best to give you advise since they know you best. best of luck!

MY PCP's REACTION TO MY WEIGHT LOSS

No, I don't think you're overreacting. We all want to be validated and then when someone you trust with your health is anything but positive, well, it just doesn't feel very good. A little deflated. Don't let him get to you, you've done great even with the port flip. Soon you'll be right back at it and then you'll show him! Chin up!
  18. Full as in 'I'm so full I can't eat another bite'. Or full as in 'I'm comfortable and satisfied with the amount I just finished'... Are you still hungry an hour after a meal? From your posts I think you're pretty focused on what you can eat and the amounts and I'm sure you're getting enough protein? If you're still hungry I would think you're in need of another fill.

    NERVES KICKING IN!!

Those nerves...I think we were all in the same boat. The what if's will drive a person insane. Keep yourself busy, your mind's going to wander back to the what if's but look at all of us now, ready to give you support and let you know that what you're thinking is not uncommon. One day you'll be saying the same thing to someone who's talking about how nervous they are about their upcoming surgery. Everything will be just fine.
  21. Looks like a school picture in a year book! Congratulations, you look great.!!
  22. From my dr to your ears....the green zone is where you are satiated for at least 4 hours after finishing your meal. I'm sure your office went over what you should be eating, the amount (1 cup-ish), taking your time with a meal, small bites, etc.etc. When I say satiated I'm not talking about the full feeling..thats how we used to eat..but feeling satisfied and comfortable. Hope that makes sense?
