I know we aren't suppose to be having lettuce but I have been doing the baby spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers and a dressing called Litehouse Red wine and olive oil. I am eating mostly chicken just cooked different ways. Are you cleared for regular foods yet?

I am tearing up reading all these. Gosh it's so amazing to have so many "family" members going through this-
    My list-
I can't wait to see my bones again- and feel them (my hips are there I know it!!!)
    Feel pretty again
Walk proud and not schlumped over
Fit comfortably in a plane seat (if that's possible)
    Go skydiving/parasailing
Let my husband see the fun healthy girl I am inside
Run/play/wrestle my boys for a long while and not short spurts.
    Zumba w/out pain
Eat and not feel guilty or wonder where it's going to show up-
Worm- I have family in Pittsburgh and am from northern wv- love kennywood!
    I. Will. Not. Fail.

You know I've only heard that from larger people. I told one of my regulars at Starbucks that I had it and he says "oh okay so you cheated" and the man had a stomach so far out that it was ridiculous. It's hard to get mad when those who could seriously benefit from the surgery get pissy

I have been fantasizing about the day someone tells me I "took the easy way out!" I can even hear my fist hit their jaw- j/k. But seriously this is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. I want to think I will be the "bigger" person (but not for real- physically) and give them the its a tool for Weightloss schpiel. Totally depends on how my day is going. I have told about 5 ppl and that's it. I am learning to live w my addiction/ forced compliance of eating right and abandoning my relationship w food. We know we are doing what's right for us and our lives and health! Keep ur heads up! Ignorant ppl are very prevalent in this world!!!

rockin jessie reacted to MillyBell in I've Had a Great Experience. So Sue Me!
I've been reading a lot of posts about the complications, post-op pain, dumping and how horrible people have been feeling. I've been wanting to post about my positive experience but almost feel guilty doing so on this site. I'm not a complainer but honestly, I've had no complaints. Sorry this is long but here goes:
I'm 34. I wasn't on any medication pre-op and other than being overweight and a strong family history of various illnesses, I was kind of in good health. My wellness team at the Khalili Center was amazing and supportive from the beginning. Fortunately, I only had to do 2 days Clear liquids pre-op. Skip to post-op. I was released the next day, had no complications and felt no pain. Hello? No pain. The med was good (Lortab) and I stayed on top of the timing. Only took that for the the first two days. Gas? Not painful, just uncomfortable and the walking and moving around helped. Now at 3.5 weeks post-op and 20 pounds down I feel amazing. There were days that I felt so tired but now have so much energy. Just yesterday I felt a little depressed but I think that had more to do with not wanting to be at work this time of year. I almost feel like I was trained to go through this like a heavyweight champ. I know what I might experience in the coming months emotionally, physically, what to watch for, etc. and I stick to my plan to a 'T'. I have nothing negative to say about my experience thus far.
I'm shortening this quite a bit because I'm beginning to feel a little self-centered and that's not the point. I really just want to show that it's not all bad, or all about pain, or whatever else others' experiences have been. Especially to those that haven't gone in yet. People do experience legitimate complications and have legitimate post-op concerns but not everyone. Educate yourself. Talk to your doctors and NUTs. Know that you will feel tired or down one day. When it happens, don't panic. Let it happen, grab a tissue for your tears, understand why, and know that it will pass. Maybe you won't walk as much that day. Know that you might dump. Breathe, experience it, and take notes. That, too, shall pass. Know that you will stall occasionally. Move on. Take your supplements. Get your Protein in. Follow the diet and allow your organs to heal. Don't rush through the food stages and MOVE! The beginning is what sets the tone for the rest of this journey and the rest of our new healthy lives. Give yourself a fighting chance and do it right.
I have so much more I could write but this is already, like, a lot. If you have questions or comments about my positive experience, please feel free to ask. I had to get this off my chest.
    Thanks for "listening".

    Hi Ms. Mandy,
I don't know much about you...have you had surgery or in the waiting stages?
If you have had surgery what type and how far out are you?
I am 19 months post op- RNY...
It is possible that you are loosing inches while your body catches up with your weight loss...take measurements and try on clothes that used to be snug or you are saving to " get back in"...
Are you keeping a food journal? Look at the amount of carbs you are taking in...as far as fluids...water in your Protein Shake counts as Fluid intake...sugar free popcisles count as fluid...power ade zero, G2, Decaf tea and coffee...try Water with orange slices or lemon or even cucumber sliced in it...I keep a big pitcher in the fridge and keep adding water to it...makes it easier to drink.
    Hope this helps.

that's why I asked yesterday because I seen most saying they can only get about 300-400 a day in and I know with just one Protein Shake is 160+ or powder Protein with milk 200+ so I was worried I was eating and drinking too many calories but she said everyone can consume more or less and some can eat only one to two bites and some can eat 1/4 cup. so I'm not stressing about calories any more

I went to the staff meeting and didn't return for the pot luck I made my lunch and stuck to it. Whoop whoop to me. I have not had so many people hug me and ask me about my weight loss and how good I look. One of my use co workers came over and said someone in the office wants info on my surgery and what are the qualifications but scared to ask. Serious I'm a big soft Teddy Bear.
