March 2007 Bandsters
So far, I'm loving the dissolve tabs, but I haven't tried the chewable. So far I'm down 10lbs, so I know what you mean about thinking it's water weight. The gas pain for me has been coming and going, but what they say is totally correct. The more you move the better!

March 2007 Bandsters
I had surgery on wednesday and these hunger pangs are killing me! Does ANYONE have any suggestions? Good luck to everyone!
-
It's either bad hunger pangs...
...or some crazy gas in my stomach that won't freaking go away and I'm dying here. It isn't the CO2, either. Oh yes, I have the rest of the day on clear liquids and then I start on full liquids. Any suggestions?

9hrs. post-op...
I can't believe how good. I feel. I have almost no gas pain and almost no incision pain. It's incredicle. Is this the eye of the storm and will the pain hit later or am I just one lucky guy? hahahaha. :clap2:

You are, I'm sure. They wouldn't do so many if it was a health risk out here. I'm in Tucson, btw.

Go to the tab that says "groups" and search by keyword "lapbandtalk". That should find it. I don't know why, but the link is working just fine for me...Try typing the address on it's own, too.

Being unaware of how I look compared to others.
I think I'm the same way sometimes. Granted, people misjudge me for being 240-250 all of the time, but still. I'm confident in my looks just enough to get me by, which often manifests itself as ego, but not obnoxious. I think I'm a bit bigger than people let on...

UPDATE: The ride home today ended up raining cats and dogs...no fun. hahaha

Pain in my abdomen right side
With repeated stretching, nearly every tissue, irregardless of origin, can stretch and enlarge to the necessary size to adapt to the conditions.

Pain in my abdomen right side
To be truthful, I would go see your primary care doctor... I don't think it's an infection, either. It would hurt all of the time. No, you can't "drown" your kidney. haha. That's part of its job.
-
Could I be allergic to my lapband?
What does it feel like? Does it hurt? Does it itch? What color is it? Truthfully, I would go see a doctor about it. If you were allergic to your band, you would know it RIGHT AWAY.

Pain in my abdomen right side
Is it in the front or back? Does it feel muscular or does it feel like it's on the inside?

Can I smoke after surgery / Why YES I CAN!!
I stand corrected, however my opinion stands. Ulcers, nerve damage, and a battery of health problems can still manifest with the smoking of the... I'm not going to stand here on a pedestal and tell you that I've never smoked, mostly due to the fact that I would be lying through my teeth. haha. I am going to tell you, however, that unless you grow it yourself and EVEN THEN, you can't get it pure and unadulterated like you used to. The stuff is downright dangerous now... Good luck with everything, though. *best smell ever, ever, ever, ever*

Docs, nurses, lab rats?
Could reflux or aspiration, themselves, create an underlying infection? I highly doubt it. It would be more likely to cause some sort of erosion or an peptic (stomach or esophagus, primarily) ulcer than anything else. If your PCP thought it was an infection, he would probably order a CBC and a blood culture. Both are good tests to run to determine whether there's an infection.

Can I smoke after surgery / Why YES I CAN!!
See, I don't mean to start anything, but that's just ridiculous. Why would you make such a positive change to your health and then keep smoking? It just doesn't make sense. Even though resistance is probably futile, have you ever actually seen a lung with emphysema or one with a bunch of tumors and masses. Not a pretty sight. Must be hard to live with, but I'm sure you've taken that all in account, right? Good talk.
