Yes, in fact some don't need fills at all. It's all dependent on your anatomy.

I'm one of the lucky ones. No fill and no privation and I'm a happy camper on 3 servings a day of 3oz of Protein. Just listen to your body. :-)

Carido at first, treadmill or elliptical and talk to a trainer about weight training. My PCP wants 45min 4-5 times a week. Build up to it, Ur body can do amazing things. Good luck!

I had my surgery 12/19 and in 11 days I can start eating solid foods. From experience is there any food that I should avoid for the first few days or weeks? I would hate to wait so long to eat and then do some damage. I know the food should be soft as per the doctor. When can I start eating salads? At what point did u start eating toast? Thanks for your help!!!!

I have to be honest... I never thought I would fail.... deciding to get banded was a huge drastic step for me to take and I was committed to doing everything and anything in order to be successful. I felt it was the last step for me... And although I didn't have any health issues other than borderline high BP I felt if this didn't work I would have an early end to my life because I couldnt continue to carry around 377 lbs and live to tell about it.
So I made sure I followed every rule....listened to me drs orders and ventured on this journey ei one thing in mind,,,, and fast forward 2 years later I did it.... And I feel very blessed to have been successful.

Well tomorrow is my day. It took me working 18hrs at work (should have only had to work 12 these past two days), 2.5 hours at Walmart, and a trip to CVS but I think I'm ready. Going to bed soon at I have to be at the surgery center at 6am. Good luck to everyone else being banded tomorrow!

WHHOOP WHHOOP ! I got the call today 9am is my go time on Friday. I want to call in sick so bad tomorrow to work and stay home clean my house and make it perfect for my recovery.

I had my first appointment at my surgeons office today which wound up lasting three hours! Although I did not meet the surgeon, All of the staff I met were incredibly nice! I met with the receptionist the nurse practitioner the nutritionist and The girl in charge of insurance. I am thrilled because I found out that there is no diet requirement prior to getting the lap band through my insurance! I have eight items on my to do list prior to getting my surgery. So depending on how quickly I can get them done that will determine when I get the surgery! I am so excited and a little nervous also.

There have been several lessons learned obviously...... but overwhelmingly the # 1 lesson I have learned from my band is that my life doesnt revolve around food. Eating is no longer an "experience" its just filling a void which I need to survive. I am not saying I do not love food. I love to cook, entertain, plan family meals.... it is just so different now... I no longer care where we eat, I don't look forward to holiday meals for the act of eating food, I don't care if I like what someone is bringing to a picnic or other pot luck event... its just food. And I don't eat enough of it to care.
This became evident when for the hundreth time in the past 2 years my husband said... lets go out to dinner... where do you want to go? I was like I don't care.... I got the typical eye roll action .... so I said... its not because I do not want to decide...but because the food just isnt important so pick a place you would like to eat and I will find something on the menu for me. He finally got it....
For me this has been a key factor is becoming a thin person...

Mine is the 17th and I'm nervous as hell!!

My surgery is the 13!! Earlier this week I almost talked myself out of it... But it's just nervous... I want this for my health and so I can see my son grow up!!

My date is soo close! Wednesday! I am getting the jitters though and not even for surgery or what's to come afterward! I am SO nervous that something is going to happen in the next 5 days to screw it up and it won't actually happen! I know this is a little crazy! Anyone else having the jitters??

It's a personal choice. If you don't want to disclose it to some I would suggest not telling anyone except someone you trust with your life. I wasnt going to tell anyone but it was too hard to explain why i was on liquids during holiday parties so I just decided to come clean. The Support was overwhelming... It made me that much more motivated.

So excited!! Please keep me in your prayers everybody!! At 8am ill be in the OR! Can't wait to get it over with and start a new way of life! Have a great day everybody!!

I read Sharon Osborne had it removed after 5 or so years... So she obviously felt she had her eating under control.... Of course I really have no idea why...just recall reading it...

so I've been on this forum for weeks now and so happy to read everyone's story's of success and now ill finally have my own story to tell!! today I was approved:):) my surgery is December 19th I've never been so happy. I'm so ready for this and to finally live a normal 20 year old life! - jackie
