  1. Loved this! Thank you for sharing it! Boy....I have had the same thoughts about so many of the same things!
  2. OMGoooodness...I've been craving Spam too (bowing my head in shame) lol So glad I'm not alone! My surgery is right around the corner too! We can do this!
  3. I just finished Week 1 with one more week to go before surgery. I have heard that after surgery you won't even want food for a few days.....so.....I just keep thinking about that every time I think I am going to lose my mind. lol
  4. DeShawn, I have been experiencing terrible headaches as well. They subsided on Day 2 and now Day 4 I have another one. I am hopeful tomorrow will be much better! From the other posts I have read regarding Pre-Op Diets - I have learned that there seems to be different diet instruction, depending on the surgeon. Mine instructions are similar to yours however - I am allowed 3 ounces of Protein, unlimited vegetables and 1/2 cup starch for dinner. I also use Metamucil. One things I know that assists with the discomfort of this diet is doubling (or sometimes tripling) my Water intake.....when I do, it is very noticeable. Hope this may help you - even in some small way. Blessings, Lisa
  5. I'm on day three and hanging in there! YOU can DO THIS! (and our surgeries are on the same day! - YAY US!) Thank you for the tips pgkpjs!
  6. Does your surgeon offer BLIS? I purchased BLIS for an additional $1,500 and it covers all surgery revisions, port flips, etc. Perhaps something to look in to?
  7. This was beautifully written and I felt as if you were speaking while looking into my own soul - thank you so much for sharing your amazing words! And from one positive psychology based book author to another....I wish you much success on your journey! Namaste' - Lisa Hardwick
  8. Great job on the 2 mile walk! YAY YOU! Fibro is absolutely NO fun.... Check out Jean's thread on the LB Magazine tab above.....VERY interesting.
  9. Kinley, I'm right behind you! And I am soooo glad you posted that you had headaches! Today was my second day of pre-op....and my oh my - my head hurts terribly! Sending you good vibes to get you through the next few days! The 6th is right around the corner!! YAY YOU!
  10. YAY for YOU!!! And hey.....TOOT that horn all you want!! I love hearing it! lol
  11. Thank you so much!
  12. awww my friend - I have been thinking about you!! I've been reading lots of posts and I read that many people are going through/have gone through exactly what you are experiencing. Bless your heart! I've also read that each day gets better - most have said day 3-4 they start feeling more normal. PLEASE let us all know tomorrow how you are doing! We are here for you!!
  13. carolinagirl: Thank you for sharing! hls50: My surgery is at 9:30 am. My pre-op diet started today. It consists of Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner such as 3 ounces of chicken and vegetables. I drank 8 cups of Water today, 2 cups of chicken broth and walked for 30 minutes. I must admit, I haven't been this strict for months - and it actually felt good! The most challenging time for me is in the evening - so I am planning to go to bed early to keep me away from the refrigerator. Yes, let's be certain to keep in touch!
  14. Oh Thank you! Now I know! And I'm glad I asked! I am not certain if my surgeon offers this - but I am certainly going to ask now!
  15. I've spent all day on this forum today and I see "Band with Plication" quite often. Would someone please explain to me what makes this different than a simple Lap Band procedure? Just curious
  16. I'm so glad you posted this! I have just recently been disappointed by viewing such things as well. For example, yesterday I went to a clinic for my EKG, bloodwork, etc. As I approached the very nice woman at the counter I noticed next to her computer a bag of chocolate chip Cookies and a Starbucks coffee. She was very sweet, and she was morbidly obese. As I handed her my chart she said "Oh, you are getting the lapband! That is wonderful! I had that done a year ago!" Needless to say, I was very surprised (Deer in the Headlights surprised).....and to be honest, somewhat disappointed. My DH said "Honey, you never know...she may have lost 150 pounds". Perhaps food addiction is simply that and there are those that are unable to change such habits such as eating junk food in the middle of the day. Believe me, I am a compassionate person in regards to such things. I just think it would be more appropriate in a medical setting to not have junk food out in plain site for people like "me" to see. Just my two cents.....
  17. Congratulations! Now rest and allow yourself to be pampered! You deserve it! And....welcome to the next chapter of your amazing life
  18. I have a few questions that I am hoping may help you.... 1. If you were to lose 15 pounds every couple of months - and KNEW that you were going to lose that amount....would it assist you in feeling less anxious? For me, it would....but I would want to be encouraged to know that was certainly going to happen with all of my hard work. 2. Do you know exactly how many calories you are consuming? And if you do - do you think you will be satisfied with less upon receiving additional fills in the future? 3. Do you think that if you had chosen to do this without the band - that there would be a higher likelihood of gaining it back. (I've lost hundreds of pounds and always gained them back....and more) I'm hoping the band will assist with this for me. My heart aches for you that you are discouraged And I, too, am a self pay ($17K) and am extremely hopeful this is a tool that is going to work for me....when everything else has not. I've lost over 50 pounds on my own....and I am expecting the band to help me to continue and to keep it off this time. On a very positive note - your numbers sound hopeful to me (15 pounds in 2 months) - and if you are exercising....perhaps you are building muscle too! Have you measured yourself? Maybe that would make you feel less discouraged? I'm sending you some good energy....and if I can be of any help (I'm a newbie....but a really good listener!) feel free to let me know! Here for you, Lisa
  19. Sounds like you are making many positive changes for your life! Sending you lots of good energy vibes to jump start this next chapter in your life! (Hug)!!
  20. Welcome! I'm new too! Today is the first day of my Pre-Op Diet and I am feeling hopeful! Also, check out Missy's profile who posted right above me! VERY inspirational! She has lost 136 pounds since January! OMGooooodness......That is AwEsOmE!! I've "met" some really wonderful and insightful people on this website - I'm very grateful for their inspiration and encouragement and I have set an intention to be as much of a blessing to others, as I learn and experience more and am able to share any words of wisdom. As of right now, I'm sorta in Kindergarten (lol)
  21. Today is the first day of my pre-op diet. Here we go!!
