I see I posted here just a few months ago and am happy to be only 1 pound away. It is amazing to finally be here. It is still hard to grasp sometimes because I do unfortunately still think about food all the time. Night time is the worst for whatever reason but I don't give in. This has been an incredible journey and one that I will literally treasure for the rest of my life. My only other problem at this point is shopping. I still want to buy large cloths even though I'm not anymore. My brain hasn't caught up with my body all the way just yet. Still a work in progress.

You know how amputees have phantom feelings in the removed parts? Well, I have phantom fat. I feel like a fat person in a Halloween costume! When I see myself in pictures, I look thin, but the mirror says "fat person". My husband wants me to stop loosing so that I don't have to buy more clothes!

I think your workouts might be the culprit. I've read that high intensity excercise can be counterproductive at this stage of the game, that's why surgeons suggest just walking. A 30 minute walk does far more for you than strength training or other strenuous activities. Try swimming, pilates, yoga...but nothing that requires you to increase your heart rate too much. Some of us get a bit overzealous and want to see reductions so badly that we actually make our bodies work against us. Less is more right now. Leave the "workouts" alone until you start toning, right now you just need to burn fat and walking is enough to do that with the way you're eating. Stay in touch!

I'll say a few things about South Florida. I moved here about a year ago from Kansas City and was raised in St. Louis. My parents live in Boynton Beach, so we wanted to stay in Palm Beach County. Miami-Dade cost of living is very expensive, and you're really stuck with Miami as the metro area for jobs. The commute is horrible. Broward is more reasonable, but older and a little crowded for housing. Ft. Lauderdale would be the big job area with Miami about 40 mins away and Boca Raton 40 mins away. Lots of tech jobs in Boca and Hollywood, FL. Palm Beach County is the most affordable with Western Boynton Beach, Western Lake Worth, Boca Raton and Wellington being the best areas for housing prices and school. Boca is the priciest. Job-wise, PBC contains Boca (big tech) and West Palm Beach. Jupiter is 40mins north where the St. Louis Cards do spring training. Go Cards! Orlando is 2.5 hours away from PBC.
Beaches in PBC are more family friendly and cleaner. Lots of old people and families. Less skanks and drunk dummies.
One big gripe about S. Florida... not one alternative radio station between the three major markets (miami, ft. lauderdale, west palm). Seriously. It's terrible.
Weather.... Today it's cooler here (Lake Worth) than it is in Orlando, KC, St. Louis, NYC, etc. The summers just don't see 100 degree weather. In the evening we actually cool off, where in KC/STL it would feel warmer and muggier at night than the day. During the summer it will rain briefly at around 4pm every day but then the breezes come in and it cools off. Winter, forget about it. Highs in the mid 70s..lows can get in the 50s. It's fabulous.

Hi everyone! I have to get back to logging all my food on MFP. That makes me successful. I'm afraid to step on the scale, but am going to have to for accountability. Grrrrr.
Ladybandido- I did see your recipe and will try it! I appreciate that!!
Sue- yes, lots happening with you! I am glad you're getting better, and hopefully the problem with your hip is now resolved!
NJ2NC! That is awesome! I wish I were a runner.
Chrissy, Hi!!! Ice cream is the worst, as it is such a slider food! And I am pretty tight, so it's easy to eat ice cream and harder (read- have to pay more attention eating so I don't get stuck) to eat other foods.
I just need to get my mojo back and justdoit, right????

Hello Everyone! Long time no update Just dropping in to see how everyone is doing and say hello. I have LOTS of reading to catch up on. I've been doing well. I haven't had an adjustment in several months because I think I'm in a good place. My struggle now is I exercise so much (running) I don't think I'm eating enough so I've leveled off at 185 and can't seem to get it any lower than that. Eat to Lose isn't in my favor right now I've dropped to size12-14 pants which my ultimate goal was to be a solid size 12! and not really a number weight. So I'm really close. I posted a new profile pic and a picture of my 1st 10k Race. I start training for my 1st half marathon in October. It does mentally bother me to not see the scale is not moving even tho I KNOW I'm burning lots of calories but I can't wrap my head around eating more food or high calorie food to burn for energy while running. It's really a head trip. After a 1.6 yrs post surgery I STILL eat to darn fast and get stuck, some things are so hard to change!
I know there are lots of ups and downs going on with everyone and I promise I'll take time to read and catch up. Miss you all and all the support and chat. I'm still here! and i'll try to pop in more often and keep in touch.

I had to come back here again today and read all your posts. I have my days where I just don't want to get up and go to the gym. I am sitting in this chair at work all day. I lose my motivation but I read this and it makes me want to get up and hit that gym and keep on moving!
On my way there now, at least a 45 min. walk and I'll be happy with the goal of 10,000 steps for the day. That's about 2x the amount I used to walk in a day.

Don't forget that your body needs carbs, just good ones. I just avoid the white flour and sugar (as much as possible). My NUT wants you to eat good carbs, that is one of your Fiber sources too. Don't be afraid, just be cautious. I did the same thing in the beginning, I avoided all carbs and my NUT said to quit that!

So I broke down and had some taken out today. They said I could wait a couple weeks to see if it got better, but it was too uncomfortable. They said it would've been fine since I could drink SOME liquids, but I couldn't stand the pain. Thanks for your help! I'm happy to be back on my journey.....

After reading several posts about the same topic (Protein Powder), I have decided it is an acquired taste. What one person loves, another does not.
For example, I could not tolerate Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder. I tried three different flavors and wasted a lot of money. The one I do like (and, again, others may not) is the UNflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I add it to my morning O.J. or yogurt. For shakes, I use the Dole Shakers (fruit flavored) and add the Unjury Protein.< /p>
Keep experimenting and hopefully you will find one that works. I, myself, am a protein snob ---> so I completely understand your frustration

I have been staying at my sisters post op. I came home today to my 2 -7 year old Shih pops, max & Hannah. Hannah is just like a baby, she is 7 lbs and always jumps all over me lays on my stomach all the time. When I came home today she was very careful with me, didn't jump on my stomach and has been laying next to me in bed for most of the day. Maxwell will not leave my side when I go for a walk. They are so intuitive! I missed them so much!

I have two dogs, eight year old Huey, and two year old Chica. Chica is very high-strung. Since I live alone, I left them at the boarding facility that my vet runs for one week following my surgery on 2/19/13. I was worried that Chica would jump on me. It's her usual method of greeting me. But when I picked her and Huey up, she was calm. Upon our return home, the first thing she did was sniff my stomach. Whenever she started to get to energetic, I let her smell my stomach and she'd settle down. I knew I was progressing well when I pulled up my shirt for her to sniff my tummy and she looked at me like I was crazy!

You are doing well with the weight loss. Other than the chocolate and juice, you are fine. Try a small snack if you get hungry. I sometimes just have six almonds and a couple pieces of dry Cereal in between meals. Don't make it another meal to tie you over. Drinking the juice just washes the food you ate through so you won't stay feeling satisfied. Try eating your fruit instead of drinking it. I only drink Water or flavored water, everything else is in solid form. No Protein Drinks either once you are to be on solid foods. It really makes a difference.

You shouldn't notice anything until you eat slid Proteins. And you should only notice that when eating the suggested amount of food, dense Protein, veggies and good carbs with no Water for 30 minutes, you should feel satisfied, not full. It is never about being full, it is about being satisfied. That is also why it is important to eat foods you enjoy so you don't crave something else. The mind likes to play lots of head games.
Don't measure your fill on Liquid Protein or mushies.

Just keep a small snack in your purse like Peanut Butter crackers or some almonds. My NUT is ok with skipping meals. If you are not hungry don't eat! I always have healthy Snacks as my meal times are "you never know when!"

You will gain and lose all the time. If you weigh yourself every day only actually count it once a week. I weigh myself every day, but Monday is my "weigh-in" day. You weight will constantly fluctuate. Your body is also healing and has lots of Fluid in it from surgery so don't expect a lot for several weeks. Just keep moving!
