  1. I would look for as a convienience store. Odd as it sounds they usually carry a decent array of pre mixed Protein drinks and some string cheese.
  2. I had my surgery August 6th. I wasn't nervous about the surgery because it was #6 for me. I was nervous about the changes, but I don't regret it for onesingle moment. The first few days have been a little rough, but nothing compared to dying an inch at a time. That is what the weight gain felt like to me. Slowly loosing energy and mobility, being a slave to food, feeling like people were constantly staring and judging. Now I feel like I am back in control of my life, living it for me and my familiy. That is what prompted my decision to be sleeved and that is the decision I will stand on. Good luck to you and may you have a blessed and speedy recovery!
  3. I was sleeved on Aug 6th also. I got home this morning. Pain isn't too bad except gas, which comes and goes. Walked to the mailbox and that helped move the gas along. I was just able to eat about an oz of greek yogurt! Good luck everyone!
  4. The surgery went great! Not much pain at all. Mostly just sore and the gas seems to be the biggest issue. Here we go! On my way to a happier healthier me!
  5. Well I'm off to the hospital! The beginning of a new journey to a healthier, happier me! Good lucks to all!
  6. I picked up a B-12 sublingual liquid made specifically for bariatric patients at Hi Health. It is made by twin labs. It is a good sized bottle that should last awhile. Doesn't taste too bad.
  7. I'm not sure what tests they are doing but I remember being told once the thyroid is bad it will always require medication. My tsh always comes back normal, but the t3 and T4 do not. my friend had the same issue as you and she eventually consulted an endocrinologist to get the real results. Good luck!
  8. I got my approval 3 days after I finished my last pcp visit too! I got a call asking me if I could start the liqid diet right away and was scheduled 2 weeks out immediately. Banner Bariatrics has been amazing. Anyone in AZ looking to get sleeved, I would advise starting there! Tomorrow is the big day! Good luck to all of you!
  9. I was not told to stop the protein shakes either. Just nothing after midnight. Surgery is tomorrow at 10am!
  10. Be careful you get all your appts! I had to do an extra month because I was seen at the end of feb and the beginning of April. Although it was two appts within 30 days, it only counted as 5 visits. Luckily the coordinator at the hospital caught it and had me do one more month. Because she did I was approved. I had even asked my pcp at the time and was told it was ok. Compliance was everything in getting approved the first go round. Good luck!
  11. First, congratulations on the 85lbs! That's awesome! Second, I was told my thyroid was "normal" for ten years before I hit on a dr who would do all three tests. Tsh is only a baseline. I would make sure they do a T3 and T4 test too. I'm thankful I finally managed to get that taken care before surgery. It has helped on soo many things. Good luck to you!
  12. My surgery is tomorrow and the liquid diet has been horrible lol! The protein shakes help, but I don't really care for them. I found going to the pool/hot tub helped relax me and keep my mind off food. Good luck to you!
  13. My surgery is tomorrow at 10am. Just counting down! I'm so very excited, a little anxious too as I know what I'm in for. But for me it will all be worth it in the long run! Good luck to everyone:-)
  14. I'm scheduled with Dr. Chen on Monday. I have had nothing but excellent patient care with Banner. Gateway. Cara Codner has been an absolute God Send in getting my auths and approvals! I would recommend this facility to anyone!
  15. Banner Bariatrics has been amazing! I'm going through Gateway in the East Valley, but the have a program at Good Samaritan in Phx too.
  16. I'm getting sleeved Monday too! Soo excited but a little nervous! I gotta say I think this liquid diet may be the worst part lol!
  17. Hi! This is my first time here. My surgery is Monday Aug 6th! I am also 36 with no co morbidities except GERD. I also have auto immune problems which cause extreme fatigue. If it is any help I think that is a major reason for my approval. My BMI is at 40 too. If I learned anything from this process it is compliance compliance compliance! I did every single thing my pcp asked right to the letter! I had been told for years my ins didn't cover bariatrics, but I just kept looking until I found someone to help. Banner gateway bariatics in Mesa AZ HAS BEEN GREAT! Find a team who can help and support you through the ins process. Good luck to you!
