Wls4me got a reaction from Indigo1991 in Goal and a little!
It passed goal today! Started out at 260, goal wait was 160. Last week I was 163, today … drum roll please … 159.6!!!! Holy smokies!!! I can't believe it. This is my lowest weight since middle school, I've got kids in middle school now. I never dreamed I would weigh this ever. I am so thankful for my sleeve. Definitely not an easy journey but worth the effort.

Forgot to check in. I'm 163. Didn't make my goal of 160 before the New Year but I also didn't gain over the holidays. Actually lost a couple pounds! That's never happened before ☺️

Wls4me got a reaction from MouseOnTheMile in 7 weeks out and a fruit addict...
There's probably going to be a lot of people respond to this and disagree with me but I say go for it. Get your Protein in then have all the fruit you want. I personally did not fuss about my carbs too much - usually around 50G a day. But most of the carbs that I do eat are from fruits and veggies. I've taken the approach with this sleeve to eat as clean and natural as I can. So no artificial sweeteners or low fat foods. I figure with the fruits and veggies I get the nutrients too. Like I said, people will disagree but I'm 10 months out and 99 lbs down, 1 lb to goal. It's what has worked for me.

Being 18 months out, I can say that the sleeve will always serve you well if you eat nutritionally dense foods (from both Protein and veggie food groups), but will almost certainly fail you on slider foods. It is wise to develop good nutritionally sound eating habits during the first 6 months while you are effectively on " probation" as a new sleeved. Once a certain time period passes, your ability for the sleeve to help you on certain classes of foods (sliders, sugar, salt, fat, etc) goes way down, effectively to 0. And then it becomes a question of how well you built your foundation during the first few months for the house you now live in. There will be storms with hurricane strength winds and your house will only be as sturdy as the foundation you poured. Listen to your nutritionalist, read and educate yourself before your "honeymoon period" ends and what is left to guide you is your decision making process.

Wls4me got a reaction from chefcoll in When will i start to feel ok?
I don't think I'm technically a vet but I'm 10 months out so I'll try to help. You all are less than a week out from major surgery. Your nutrition is not what your body is used to. I'm sure you aren't taking in all the carbs you're used to so you're body has to find a new source of energy. That will be fat soon but you have shocked your system and your body doesn't know that yet. It's not uncommon to be exhausted after a shower with any surgery. Grocery shopping may be a bit much too. I was like a baby the first week. Drink, sleep, pee, pass gas (no BM) for a week. By week 2 my energy was better. Could get through a basic shower, not shaving and all that fancy stuff. Give yourselves and your bodies some time. Enjoy your time off work near the holidays. By week 4-6 you're body will have figured out what the heck is going on and you'll be up and running good as new.

Wls4me got a reaction from PdxMan in No Pre-Op Diet? What Gives?
Just give your doc a call to clarify. There is a wide variety of preop instructions out there. Personally I didn't have a preop diet, just nothing after midnight the night before. Your dr may not think you need it. Just ask. You'll feel better.

Just focus in staying hydrated right now. Also try warming you liquids including your Protein Shake. Yuck, I know. But sometime warm feels better than cold. Keep up the good work. You're doing great!

Wls4me got a reaction from Arts137 in 3 weeks post-op: Pizza and Pasta?!
Regardless of what each of our drs post diet orders are NONE of them are Pasta or pizza. bread and pasta is the last thing to add back to your diet. At 3 weeks post op it is not just sabotaging your weight loss but possibly sabotaging your health. You need to take ownership of this. It doesn't matter what your friends/family think or do. Don't do it with them. Don't go out to eat with them until you can control yourself. I'm not trying to sound mean. There is just no reason to endanger yourself.

Wls4me got a reaction from EarthyGoalie in My Doctor Wants Me To Eat More!
My carbs mainly come from my fruit and veggies and milk. Once in a while I'll have a couple bites of sweet potato but that's about it. Typically for Breakfast I have 1 egg and 2 pieces of bacon. If I don't feel like cooking I will eat a greek yogurt, but a real one. Like Fage or Chobani and add some fruit. I don't eat the Dannon or yoplait Greeks because they are very processed. banana and a nut butter for snack. Turkey and cheese for lunch and maybe a salad. Nuts for a snack. And dinner with the family. I eat the same as them but no starch. That's about it. Pretty simple.

I eat 1200-1500 cals a day. I'm 10 months out and 95lbs down. My Dr wanted me at 1000cals from the beginning. Part of my calories comes from me eating regular, sweetened, full fat food. I don't use artificial sweeteners or low fat dairy (except milk, don't like whole milk). I get my Protein in my meals and fruits and veggies for a snack. I eat almost a completely clean diet and feel the best I ever have.

Wls4me got a reaction from Arts137 in Two Weeks Out, Feeling Restricted On What I Can Eat
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT: This is the time to teach yourself that food is just fuel. That it is NOT important to your success or your happiness. Try to not make your food cravings important, if you can. Remember, the real work will begin when you can eat anything BUT MUST CHOOSE NOT TOO! Control your head!
Absolutely!! This is very true. Take this time to learn about yourself and fix whatever you need to. It's the beginning of your new life.

I agree with mckally. Also, keep in mind you have a baby stomach. Lentils may be too rough right now. I'm 10 months out and although I can tolerate anything, if I eat cereal, grits, cream of wheat, whatever, my stomach still makes all kinds of gurgling noise. Take it slow. Best of luck.

My New Years resolution will NOT be to lose weight next year!
    I'm 10 months post op
    Down 95 lbs
My eating seems natural now. No one questions my eating or portions now. I feel great. Can shop for normal size clothes. Am way more active than before. At 5 or 10 years out will I still be loving my sleeve? I don't know for sure but can't really see why not.
