Just go with the flow on your date, try not to worry about something that hasn't happened yet :-). Ask home questions about him, that will lead to other topics and you will get to know him better. Good luck and have a blast :-)

It has been one month and one week since my surgery and I have lost 22 lbs. I am 26 lbs from my doctor's goal and 51 lbs from my goal. Before surgery I was type 2 diabetic on metformin and fast acting insulin, just like my father and sister. My blood sugar has been at normal levels since my surgery! I can't wait to get my A1C results at my next check-up with my PCP!!!
It feels so great to know I will never have to worry about getting a band adjustment again!!! And, it feels so good to know I will keep the weight off this time!!!!!

The first picture is the start of my pre-op diet, May 24th. Because of intubation problems, my surgery was delayed four weeks so I had a 6-week pre-op period. My surgery was July 9th and the second picture is from yesterday, September 9th. More to come in two months!!!

Two years ago today I was sleeved. You can follow my posts through the last two years to see that yes, I struggled but I never once regretted my decision.
Feel free to contact me directly if you ever want to discuss what life is like "after VSG". I am amazed still. Thank you to my many supporters on this great support site, my surgeon and my SoCal Support group.
Hugs - I have no regrets.

DZ1RMQ reacted to Izuri in Co-Workers Talking About Me!
Sounds like the green-eyed monster for sure. I would confront her about it personally. I would say something like "I am happy that you notice my weight loss, I am feeling great. I have heard that you've been telling the office that I had my stomach stapled though, and I wanted to let you know that I don't appreciate it. If you would like to talk and get the facts straight, I'm happy to, but in the mean time I'd appreciate if you would refer people to me with questions about my weight."
Maybe that sounds snarky - but my coworkers gossip like crazy and it drives me nuts.

Let them talk, yes, it's a bit embarrassing to admit that I got fat and didn't have the willpower to fix it myself. Therefore I had to seek assistance.
What would be even more embarrassing is to be fat, lack willpower on top of that too prideful or ignorant to do anything about it.

My cousin had it, and she takes Ducolax, like 10 or 15 because she got tired of talking to the wall at the doctors. She isint puking thank god, she isint doing half bad.... now. About a year after surgery she had her gullbladder out, and that eased a lot of her discomfort. That might be something to check into....

I know a few people who have had the RNY, and they have nothing but problems. Vitamin absorption issues, becoming anemic, dumping syndrome, can’t keep anything down, always constipated. I was scared to death of the RNY. I was so thankful to hear about the sleeve. Best thing I ever did.

Today is the day that I'm getting back to jump starting my eating plan. The scale has gone above where it dared to go and dammit, it's going the other direction now, so that means I'm going to be eating clean healthy foods right now. Yep, the first 2 days are going to be Protein Shakes, broths and more Proteins. No more nibbling here and there. Really cleaning the whole house out of junk that somehow made there way into my kitchen. Time to refocus my attention back to keeping a careful food journal with my fitness pal. Does anyone want to join me?

DZ1RMQ reacted to Fiddleman in What Food Do You Miss?
I don't really miss anything, but I remember what I used to like eating: orange chicken, popcorn ( especially caramel and white chocolate), apples, bananas, costco cake, apple fritters, Mexican a la crema and more. I guess the reason I don't miss them is because of one of the major reasons why I had this surgery. For the past 10 years or so I have constantly had a love hate relationship with food. While I enjoyed the initial experience of eating, I almost always hated my behavior that leads to over eating too much of the wrong types of food. My will power would be like steel sometimes, but then it would be razor thin other times. I got so fed up with the love hate relationship and what is was doing to my health, mental state and general well- being, I had to do something to stop the vicious cycle. That is where the surgery came in. All in all, I say good riddance to all these foods. For that reason, I don't desire them any longer and feel I am free from the power they held over me. The door has closed on that part of my life. A different door has opened where I have a healthy relationship with food as fuel. While many can probably relate to this power struggle i described , everyone is different. Good luck.

That number is from Metformin, Victoza and Onglyza with 40 minutes of cardio 6 days a week. Honestly I don't know where I would be if it was just Metformin.
Diabetes is my primary reason for having this procedure. I'm so tired of dealing with it and the complications that come from all this medication. I'm trusting my doctors that I will eventually end up in the same place that I would of with the bypass.

I was diagnosed in April 2010, and was on Metformin 1,000mg BID. My blood sugars ran 140s-150s, and they were about to add another med. I was sleeved 8/28, and now I run 120-130s. It's not normal yet, but I've lost almost 30 pounds, so my doctor says she expects it to be normal within the next month. I was told it takes longer if you've been diagnosed longer, and if you're on several meds for control, which makes sense.
