1. So, My first NSV was getting in a ride @ Knott's... I was so nervous about potentially doing the "dreaded walk of shame". I got on, down came the bar...Whew! it went down....VICTORY! I rode that & had a blast with my family! I have lost 87 lbs so far, & am between an 18 -22 in clothes(depending on the cut/style, etc) After I got off the ride I noticed that there was a sign that said that if you recently had surgery, then you should not get on these rides. I had surgery in Jan.2007, I feel that I am healed, but didnt even THINK about anything happeneing to my band, my hubby said that it should be healed by now, but I would like your imput. I havent talked to my Dr. yet. I feel fine, just I am always a worry wart... :biggrin1:
2. I dont know what is sufficient, But I know that it makes me feel better. I used to DREAD excercise, even a walk across a parking lot. I used to make my hubby drive around until he found something close, or drop me off in front, but now I tell him to park as far away as possible! If I dont excercise for a few days, I can really begin to feel it. I think that I had the wrong attitude before. I always 'wished' that I liked to run, but now I actually do. I keep pushing myself each day to one day run a marathon( that is my goal).
3. I went to Dr. Gonzales,in T.J.(cosmed clinic) he flys in from mexico city,so he works in both locations, THAT was the BEST expericence that I have ever had.my hubby was REALLY leery of mexico, but by the end of the consult, my HUNNY was the one asking when I can get it done! I will FOREVER be in his debt.... Thanks Dr, G!!!
4. purplegirl, I was "heavy" in high school or should I say curvy, but I wish that I would have learned to eat better then, but the people that influenced me -well lets say that I didnt eat the healthiest. I didnt even realize waht "eating healthy" was until I got banded. So much to learn...I am still learning. I am 32 and was banded on 1/27/07 - to date I have lost 76lbs. i still am unsure somedays if it is working or not. Have faith that it will work. as long as you follow the rules, and WALK.. maybe not hard excercizing, but walking is good. I started out not being able to walk more that 1 block without getting winded, but now I walk 1 1/2 mile a day & 3 miles on the weekend. so have faith... there is TONS of support for you on this web site, just ask... GOOD LUCK!!!
5. I got banded on Jan. 27th & I also have PCOS as well, I chose to get off of metformin, but I have a Dr. That put me on spirlactolone to help with the effects of PCOS. I feel better on that med as well. I have currently lost 66 lbs. I walk 1-2 miles a day, & on weekends I walk 3 miles. Plus I walk alot at work. I am more active in general. Watching what I eat helps. I think increaseing your protein is key too.
6.
I hope that By the time that I go to my Dr. Appt on Saturday, I will be in twoerwille!

I have been teetering with 3 lbs for the last 3 weeks. But I think that I have finally broke that this morning... so only a few more days & hopefully I will be back on the road to loosing. I was doing great prior to this crazy plateau, Then it was a bit discouraging for the last 21/2 weeks to not have lost ANYTHING, It was also my TOM, & stress, trying to sell our home, but even moreso I just hope that there isnt a slippage... I think that I have so much riding on the band, that I am fearful that something will go wrong.... Wish me luck on the roasd to twoerville!

7. THANKS WASabubblebutt... one more question though... does having other meds sitting in your pouch do the same thing...I.E. ... THyroid meds, or meds related to P.C.O.S.?? Just curious now...
8.
Cant using Advil cause a slip??!! I dont mean to sound nieve, but I dont remeber ever hearing ,or reading about this?? Now I am STRESSED because I have taken these, and I was thinking I might have a slip...I have been feeling like I am hungrier than I was before., Dr. said that as long as there is no vomiting ,or swelling of the area,or hot to the touch then it should be fine...My husband calls me Nervous Nellie...telling me that I worry for nothing...But now I think that I might be validated in this??

9. I know that this may be silly, but why can you NOT take an anti-inflamitory? I.E. Advil? I didnt know that you cant take these...
10. a typical day for me is getting up @ 5:30 am to go walking 1 1/2 -3 miles PER DAY. when I get home I get ready for work, then I make breakfast, which is either eggs or slimfast. (that is around 7:00) then about 10:30 -1100 I have lunch which is a salad or a wrap w/ turkey, lettuce,& tomato & a little ranch. @ 5 pm when I get home I make some think chicken, or fish,w/ salad on the side. (or a cucumber salad or something like that.) i dont think that my diet is terrible & I get excercise, plus I am running around ALL over my building...I think that it is stress that is a BIG factor, & I SHOULD be starting my period soon(hence the EMOTIONAL crazy lady attitude lately-@ least that is what my husband says....) should I worry that it might be a slip?? What are some of the tell tale signs of a slip??
11. I guess that I am looking for reassurance or something...I got my band done on Jan 27TH and just had my 2nd tightening on March 31st, I was on a roll and have lost 49 lbs, but in the last week I put on 6 lbs. I dont know if because I havent started my period or the stress of trying to sell my house, or if I am sabatoging my self because I am scared of losing all this weight-and not knowing who I am...I know that doesnt make any sense, but I guess my question is, how do I know that my band hasnt slipped or something, since I put on a few lbs back on, I am not schedualed to go back for another fill until the end of May, but now I wonder if I shouldnt go sooner? any thoughts???
12. I found that if you are comfortable with letting people know that you had "stomach surgery" then they are willing to let you order off of the kids menu or senior menu. It is just lightly larger than what I need, but I am ok mentally these days with leaving food on the plate. I think that is the hardest part, butI am trying to overcome that....
13. try drinking more water too, if you get the feeling like you are hungry, sometines you mistake it for dehydration. It might help, plus ,alot of Dr.'s only put the band on without any tightening, because you swell alot, so you will need to get a fill about 1-2 month post -operative. Hope this is helpful...Congrats on getting banded!
14. margaritas in mexico went down JUST FINE!!! I felt a bit "happier " on just 1 rather than 2or 3...but I didnt get sick. I know that there are empty calories, but dont deprive yourself on anything, or else you will just feel unhappy, like you cant have anything...no good...Drink & be merry!!!
15. I went to Dr. Gonzales de Cassis I LOVE him...My husband was really against going to MExico to have surgery, but after meeting Dr. Gonzales -My HUSBAND was like--ok how soon can she get in... I think he is the best! I would do it all over again with Dr. Gonzales!!

18. it just seems funny, I guess that losing a shoe size never crossed my mind, when I thought about losing weight, or being "skinny/thinner"...
19. I was wondering if any of you out there that have lost alot of weight, have had to buy new/smaller size shoes? I have only lost 41 lbs(+10 prior to surgery-so 51 total) but I think that my Fat Flinstone feet are shrinking!! How 'bout you??
20. I have willingly told alot of people, Except my grandma, I want to suprise her when I see her. The thing that I haven't told many people is WHERE I had it done... People can be so judgementalI've heard people say" IN MEXICO!!! thats where all the Dr.s That lose there license here(in USA) go to practice...Butchers" yadda yadda... Dr. Gonzales (inT.J.) was FANTASTIC!!! I would do it all over again -IN MEXICO! as a matter of fact, when it is time for my tummy tuck, I am going to get it done there too!!!I saved over 15,000 by going to a great Dr. Down there!! WOO HOO

I got banded on Jan. 27,2007. I felt GREAT! I was back to work on Monday following my surgery. With the restriction of no lifting. I am pretty much doing everything that I did before- only more of it! I went for a 2 mile hike this weekend, & I am going to go again this weekend...I have lost a total of 37 lbs since my surgery. March 31st will be exactly 8 weeks since my surgery. I know things have really slowed down now, which can be disapointing, b/c you get to be on such a high each day like"wow, another 2 lbs!" Now it feels like "damn, no more weight gone?" But I keep on Truckin...I am trying to walk @ least 4 days a week. Cant afford to go to a gym right now, since we are trying to move back to California. But I think it is still good. I cant 'weight' to get to my goal weight, but I am also realistic... well my only concern that I have is that I worry that the band will slip of that the Dr. wont be able to fill it for some reason or another. I just have to keep faith that everything will remain fine. If you want to talk ...Email me!

23. When I first had my surgery(jan 27,07) I felt the port, but I recently casnt seem to feel it. I remember the Dr. saying that he "placed it up high" but he had a hard time finding it @ my last fill. My BMI was 53(?) But I have lost 37 lbs since then. I CAN feel it when I am standing, but not laying down, so it got me thinking... what if the doctor cant find !! God Help me then...lol I am really positive & motivated to do this, but this would just DEVISTATE me...Has this happened to anyone else? & please tell me that it will be alright!!! THanks!:help:
