2nd fill...is this how i'm supposed to feel?
Yes, my name was lauraj23 I remember in the down time, before my first real fill, I could 'eat anything'.. kind of. My band was so small on me, doc didn't think I'd need any fill. He ended up being wrong, but I think I did get more restriction than some during this time. I had pizza a couple times, and I was able to eat 1 piece comfortably. When I'd start on piece 2, I'd feel that UGH feeling. So I can't imagine at any of my band journey getting in the 4 pieces.. and then some cheese sticks.. oy. But you have a lot more room to work with in the fill department... it may just take a while to get there. Hopefully this will be good for you if you feel liquids, since that's where I am, that's a good indication you could be there!

OK when is enough, enough??
Why bring it all together? I enjoy having tons of clothes. However, I have gone once a month to the depths of the sea of clothes and emptied out clothes by this criteria.. "Have you worn it in the past 2 weeks?" "Is there a special occasion you know of that you will need this for?" If the answer is no and no.. I bag it and send it off to goodwill. I find I normally hold onto clothes for years that I'll never wear. I don't know why.. like one day I'll magically want to wear it.. and I don't. So I've been cleaning it all out to make room for all my new sizes

Crud - I swallowed a piece of gum :-(
I'm not a fan of gum, but they told me at my pre-op, DO NOT CHEW GUM! He said if you swallow it, it can get lodged in the hole and it could require surgery to remove it, since gum doesn't break down. That was enough for me to stop chewing, especially since it was such a rare occasion anyway. However.. eep.. I have been sick the past few days, and I have that infection taste in my mouth and it's driving me nuts, so I chewed a piece of eclipse yesterday. And in the past when I did chew gum, I always swallowed it. I was walking around a store chewing the gum mindlessly and almost swallowed it.. so I immediately spit it into a tissue. Gum doesn't seem worth the risk to me.. I'm so tight, I would be the person who had to have it surgically removed lol.

Go To Foods
I always have frozen chicken breasts (Individually wrapped), frozen mild italian sausage links (individually wrapped), onions, and canned french-cut green beans. With those things, I can always throw together some kind of meal that I can eat, with whatever is laying around in the kitchen. Oh and the packets of instant grits, are a staple for me. Easy quick meal for 1!

Do your insecurities affect your relationship?
I never cared if my DH went to strip places. Actually, I minded if he went with MY money. So the rare occasions he got invited (like on a bachelor party), I wouldn't let him take cash or the ATM card. He can buy drinks on his CC, and enjoy the show without the money. No one throws money at me for putting on lingerie! There's not a girl in those places special enough for my hard earned money, I don't care what she can do with her legs. So anyway.. one night he went to a bachelor party, and he got drunk. And this night, really bothered me that he went. I wasn't jealous, but I was EMBERASSED. As a drunkard, he acts stupid.. and it was in front of our joint (male) friends. So knowing he was hooting & hollering is one thing, but around the guys who know me, felt like I was being disrespected and I was utterly emberassed. (They all called me from the limo to tell me what happened, so I felt like such an idiot). Anyway, my 2 cents.

Ladies......I need help with the girls!
The most comfortable bra IMO is the Lane Bryant Demi-Bras. They were popular for a while, now I can find them once in a while on sale.

Ladies......I need help with the girls!
I always have to wear underwire, have never found a good wireless that actually held them up all perky-like. But.. I noticed in the past 20-30lbs, underwires no longer KILL ME. They use to dig into me, and first thing I did whenever I got home was take the sucker off. I hated it.. now I have actually (GASP) sat around my house in my bra! I never in my life would have thought I'd do that. Maybe I just always got them too small? But even when they fit, the 2nd underarm boobs hang over and cause issues.

Lap Band Friendly Fast Food

another alcohol question
I actually have noticed that alcohol seems to tighten me. When I finally realized it, me and DH decided the alcohol must be irritating my stomach, thus making it inflamed and harder to eat. But I've tried having a martini before dinner, and a glass of wine before dinner, and both times, it was damn near impossible to eat after that.. and it hurt pretty bad.. that burning alcohol feeling, but it gets stuck in the stoma..ow.

Minutes away from getting my band
I was too afraid to poke around post-op till everything healed over. Now I find myself pushing in my port (it's so close to the skin, I can feel the rubbery top.. at least that's what it feels like), and poking at the edges. You got apple juice, how lucky. They TORTURED me post-op, I have no idea why!!! I think nurses thought I had RNY, they kept saying it. I was so dry and hoarse from the tubes, I was thirsty.. and they gave me literally 2 tiny ice slivers. And I took em in one gulp and asked for more. They said NO! And wouldn't let me have Water, or popsicles, or anything I hear other people got. I was so miserable, I just wanted to gargle water I was so thirsty. Of course, it eventually passed and I went home and drank all the water I wanted

2nd fill...is this how i'm supposed to feel?
If you can get liquids down, you're not too tight. And if you feel the liquids (I do), you may be in a world of surprise. If I even look at a pizza, I start to gag.. I couldn't get a bite of pizza down if I wanted to!

Lap Band Friendly Fast Food
Is Chipotle a FF place?
-
Was it like this for you??
Yes, it takes larger bands more to fill up. And on top of that, everyone's band fits them differently. I have the smallest band, and it holds 4cc. 1.5cc is too much for me, but some people have all 4cc in it. I would likely die if I had that much har har. You're normal, don't fret. And it can take a week or two for your fill to settle into the band and you can feel it. So if you don't feel anything, you might still feel it soon.. and if not, just get another fill and keep going until you feel it!

Lap Band Friendly Fast Food
I am all for Wendy's Chili, the small fills me up great. Also the pinto & cheese at taco bell (I also add onions). Mexi-melts at taco bell sometimes.. just 1, and I can eat about 1/2. (Kind of funny, I use to eat 2 of these with the rest of my meal in the past). And if you're trying to go healthy diet or whatever, you can have the mexi-melts fresco style. Subway bread is too much for me, but I could tolerate 1/2 of the tortilla sometimes (and refrigerates well!). I never cared for veggies on my subs in the past, but now I get cravings for it.. I get the subway club with extra green peppers, banana peppers, lettuce, onions, dijon mustard, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper. Num num. I hear you can have this made into a salad instead of putting it on a sandwhich, but never tried it. Haven't tried subway since my last fill since most solids don't agree with me. If DH is in a bind, he's gotten me chicken nuggets kids meal from McDonalds, but I can't seem to get the nuggets to go down. It might just be me, so if you can get them down, 4 chicken nuggets isn't bad.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Just called to ask the jeweler that made our engagement ring the cost for them to resize the engagement ring and the wedding ring guard, and then weld them together at the bottom. She said to plan around $100, and it 'sounds like' they can work with it, but it depends on the quality of the wedding guard that I did NOT get from them. Fingers crossed, going to be a few hour drive, and if they can't work on it, I don't know what you're suppose to do! Then they can ship it back to me so I don't have to go back up for another $25. May as well, saves me time and gas money. My rings never fit, he guessed the ring size too big from the get go, so it's only gotten worse. I'd like to see how they look when they're fixed together and not spinning and sliding all over the place! We're going Saturday to get it resized, woot! And just so everyone here knows, if you want to edit a post, you get all those smilies.. but if you copy your post, THEN click edit, erase the smilies and paste what you copied from your original post, and then you can edit it

NSV and a new errand to run...
My wedding rings no longer fit my hand whatsoever, they slide right off. So I have it on my right hand, but it's too big there also. I'm afraid if I resize it now, I may need to resize it again.. and due to warranty, the only place I can resize mine is a couple hours away.. and who knows how much it'll cost

Feeling full, stuffed, or not wanting to puke
Immediately post-op, I felt stuffed from very little liquid, due to the swelling. Once that went away, I had months of just getting full a lot easier. Now that I have good restriction, I can get to the point very quickly where if I take JUST ONE MORE BITE.. I'm doomed. I get hiccups and start spitting up. It's no fun. And I tell myself, I'm stuffed, no more! But I see I have 2 spoons of food left, I gotta eat it, and I need to break that.

Husband says I am addictedt to lapbandtalk!
I'm on all day at work.. when I get home I rarely get on, because I burn out from the computer at work! DH commented the other day when I said I rarely get on at home, that he hears me typing and typing those long posts lol.

The B.S. Psychologist
I probably was eating the range of calories your doc suggested. The problem is (for a lot of us, not necessarily you), it's not that we're eating 24/7, but the things we DO eat are SO high in calorie, that we never even noticed. The chicken fingers meal at Chili's is something like 1,200 calories. I would eat that for lunch. LUNCH. And sometimes paired with a McDonald's b'fast of a mcmuffin (or two) and a hashbrowns. I'm not going to look it up now, but that's probably another 8-900 calories at least. So I'd be up to 2,100 calories (and an 'average' person should have 2,000 in a day) before noon! Then I'd have a snack.. of some chips maybe.. 150 calories roughly..well, that's bandster size.. I'd say I'd maybe eat 300 calories of chips at once. And some dip sometimes, another 60 calories. Then dinner.. which can range all over the place. I ate a lot of fast food, so Steak & shake.. small shake, large fry, and double burger.. About 2,000 calories. So for the day, that's nearly 5,000 calories. And I wasn't stuffing my face everywhere I went. And that's not a day where I went to a restaurant and had an appetizer, Soup, meal, and dessert! Just an example, of where maybe they don't mean you're eating all the time.. it's just that calories are hidden all over the place! The Ruby Tuesday Bella TURKEY BURGER is 1,145 calories. Not including fries or drink. So you could be thinking, hey I'm getting a turkey burger, that's healthy right? Wrong.

OK when is enough, enough??
I have to forgo black.. I have 3 long haired white cats. My essentials are different cuts of jeans depending on how professional or slutty I plan to look. Dressy tunic shirts, t-shirts, and 2 pairs of khaki's for the super professional days (hah hah). But then I have tons of clothes on top of this, because once in a blue moon I feel like changing it up! I'm the same way though, I keep buying and buying, but I still keep wearing the same old stuff.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Judy- The rut is unavoidable, but let's look at a couple things first. Your goal was 83lbs, and you lost 59. That means you've lost 71% of your excess weight! WOW! I've only lost 50%! From everything I've heard, the closer to your goal, the harder the pounds. So stay strong! Don't get discouraged, it WILL come off! Do you think you need a fill? Sending violet vibes your way, if anyone can do it, you can do it!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
I don't know why I care, but those people getting excited about having the band then taking it out when they're want to be, are annoying me. Have they not gone to a seminar? Have their docs not talked to them at all about the band? I shouldn't care.. it's their money and life..
-
Completely opening the band
Have you talked to your doctor about that? I ask just because if you read the Inamed handbook, the band is not a temporary tool. It's to be in for life.. My doc said he would never take the band out unless there were medical problems with it, he would just take out the port and seal off the tube. Make sure your doc is ok with that, if that's what you want to do with it

Port location problem?
The pain won't get worse, if you're healing. The pain I had initially with the bra rubbin it was that it felt like it was burned and the scars were sensitive. That sensitivity went away and where you can physically feel the port by touching the skin, it doesn't hurt.
