  1. Oh oh let me tell you. I went to lunch with co-workers and someone brought up plastic surgery for losing weight. I was sayin how our insurance won't cover it. So one of them said a friend of hers in town, went to the B'ham burn center (hour from here) and FOR FREE they did an upper body lift, if she donated the skin to the burn center. Holy crap, what?! They take the upper arm flaps, and the pannis flap. OMG. I can't believe it. So I'm anxiously waiting to hear more details.. she's callin her friend to get more info for me.

Ok had a blast of energy, went to book the flight but I can't put that on my debit card at the moment. If this time next week the price isn't up and I'm still feeling ballsy, I'm in. I'll let you know :rolleyes2:

    Gimme a teleporting machine?
  8. One doctor required 8 weeks clean of cigs before surgery, the day before surgery they do a nicotine test, if you fail, you forfeit all your payment (I am self-pay). I said screw that, no way I can guarantee.. So anyway, the doc (ended up being the better choice) I ended up going with just said smoking is bad, but didn't require I quit. Now I smoke twice what I did pre-band, and I have a box of Chantix, waiting for DH to get his box so we can get on it. I am wishy washy though. I hate how $$$ smoking is, and of course that it's bad for health.. but I love smoking.
  9. Im running out of pants!! I bought the 17's (which fit like 15/16) and I'm in 19's (fit like 17/18). But I only have 2 pair of the 19's and 3 pair of 17's.. so I have 2 pairs of pants that fit. The rest are way too big, I've been wearing them this week since the other 2 aren't clean, and my pants look so frumpy. Just had a fume moment with a customer. They picked out they wanted xxx, they laid out their artwork on our template for xxx. They received it, and don't like the dimensions. Uh. So I didn't know what the story is, but he's asking if his CSR is competent, she picked it out for him. Then he said, they did NOT use our template, so it's our prepress' fault for not catching it. Ultimately, he wants $$ back or whatever. So I go pull everything.. the CSR did *not* pick anything out, she sent him to the website to pick out what he wanted. HE picked xxx. Then, the artwork WAS sent on our template. Give me a flippin break. This company has tried to rip us off before, so I was rude in my e-mail back. I said YOU picked out xxx, YOU sent artwork for xxx, and we are suppose to read your mind that this isn't what you wanted? I should have counted to 10 and taken the last line off, but seriously that is how I feel. Today's not a good sales person day, I'm PMSy :x

Jennifer, did you just say you mailed me Valium? LOL!
  12. Speaking of cute things for kids, I'm going to do it... And keeping in mind, with today's technology like mypublisher.com where you can make your own hard-copy professional books for pennies.. I plan to do what my mom did before they had fancy technology lol.. She found when we were cleaning out the attic, a kids book she made for my brother when he was a baby. It's made out of paperboard, with colored tape on the edges to make it soft-edged and then she double sided it to stick pictures in it.. and then wrote in markers, a story. It's very simple and cute.. Starts out with a newborn pic of him and it says things like "There was a sweet little boy named Jason" and then it had pictures of him with the pets "Jason liked playing with his dog D-Day", etc. Him with family "Jason has a granny, and 3 uncles name name name".. you get the picture. It was a simple book, she said she made it for him to remember names and people, things like that. The last pic is him sleeping and it says something about how he likes to go to sleep at night. It was so adorable! I plan to make one for my kids too.

Bandsters have the right to indulge once in a while without getting the third degree from DH. Is it just me?
  14. That's an interesting read! Never eat a live mole! This seagull did, the mole tried to tunnel out and they both died. OH DEAR.
  15. Yeah I can see that, and I understand what you're saying. But as a whole, I know there's a lot of young people like me, who was doomed to have a miserable fat life, and no matter how much we helped ourselves, we need this surgery. I thank god daily for modern medicine. I can pretty much guarantee I would have ended up bed-ridden in a couple years and dead by 35.
  16. Yeah if you find one that I can search for in alabama let me know, I can't think of any restaurants around here like that unless it's some place I didn't know about.
  17. Flour tortillas make me spit up.. but I think it may be that I don't chew them well enough. However, even with a conscious effort, I have issues.. so I just marked them off my list. Never a huge fan of them to begin with. Almond milk sounds interesting.. the unsweetened kind, do you just drink it and it's sweet or what?
  18. The 'last supper' mentality is bad bad. It's NOT TRUE. After being banded, and after your post-op diet, and before good restriction you will be able to eat like you did pre-band. So don't flub your diet now with the thought that you'll never eat again. It's just not so
  19. My advise, throw in 1-2 days a week where you eat 1500 calories. Your body will adjust to eating so few calories, so if you're having a plateau, in my experience, mixing it up with the calories keeps me from stalling. I eat about 900 calories a day, and a couple days a week I go up to 1,600. If you can't eat that much, I have it in an indulgence (600 calorie shake! ho hum)
  20. Congrats!! Good luck on the interview. Make sure you wear sexy matching lingerie, it helps give you the confidence boost during interviews!
  21. I just wanted to chime in on the 'too-young' comment. I am 23, and banded shortly after turning 23... And I wish I had done it earlier!! Just because we're young, doesn't mean we haven't been there and done that. I've been fat since I came outta my momma. At 8 years old I cried about having to pick up the golf ball out of the hole because it hurt my back too much. At 19-20 I had crippling.. and not ow it hurts, but crippling back pain. I could not walk anymore. I was too proud, my doc told me to start using those scooters when I go in public. I wasn't going to be caught dead doing that, I was only 20... that shouldn't happen to me!! So I just didn't go anywhere. And I was gaining weight even more rapidly from not doing anything. My great-grandmother was diabetic. Looking at pictures of she and I at the same age, we looked identical. By 30 she was bed-ridden and weighing 700+lbs. At 35 she died in her bed, and was one of those people that became a spectacle when her body was removed from the home. I did WW and failed. I did Atkins, lost a lot of weight, gained it all back + some. Atkins was the best success I had, until the band. I officially passed my Atkins success a month ago. I now have no back problems when I walk. I feel like I have been given a new life, I feel youthful (FINALLY). So.. as for being too young, if I 'just tried dieting some more', I might have ended up like my g'gma.
  22. I have to admit, the Richard Simmons videos are FUN! My Granny bought the sweatin to the oldies when I was younger, and she and I would dance and exercise.. brings back good memories. My biggest problem about workout videos, I have the walk-away-the-pounds which I did SO WONDERFULLY when I lived on my own in Atlanta.. is that I don't want anyone-even DH-seeing me exercise. Especially in front of my TV, something about it makes me feel so emberassed! So the few times I've tried to do my video, I lock the bedroom door, I'm gettin into it, then DH knocks askin why I locked the door. Then I gotta pause, wipe my flushed face, and peek out and tell him to go away. Then I'm emberassed anyway, and give up. I've tried telling him ahead of time not to disturb me, I'm workin out.. and he forgets..never fails. So I haven't been doing that. I have just been walking more, like when I take my dog out, I don't just take her out.. I take her on a walk around the block. I hate myself for being lazy though, especially when I hear about Judy on the bike and all her toys.. and then Pam doing her classes. I'm jealous, and yet unmotivated to change it. I have a feeling when I stop losing, I'll have to kick it up in gear, and I dread it. I hate exercising. I have a migraine right now, just took 2 horse pills and feel them bouncing around. Hopefully migraine meds can work from the upper pouch!
  23. Hey let me ask all you pregnant ladies. I always thought about how, if I lose weight and get preggy, I can just wear my OLD *bigger* sizes. Do you have to wear maternity, or can larger sizes work the same way?
  24. If your BMI is under 40, you need 2 documented co-morbities. One thing you can try to do, is have your doc fudge it up. Some will do that for you. I know sleep apnea & diabetes are on the list, but I would ask your doc if he can turn your 'sleep disorder' into sleep apnea, etc. Honestly, just call BCBS with your policy info, explain the situation and they will tell you if it's worth persuing. I have BCBS of AL, but my policy does not cover ANY obesity treatments. Good luck
  25. Jollies seems to be interpretated as something 'bad', and it's not. Jollies just means, something you like. I don't like it, I don't get my jollies from it. You do, you get your jollies. That's ok, I said let them have it  And I do know a lot of people find fellowship to be important in Christianity, but that goes back to where I say.. do what you believe. I would never tell someone they are wrong for wanting to do fellowship in their religion. And just among christianity there are different denominations that disagree with each other. I don't think the only conflict is between religious vs. non-religious. I would be hard pressed to find a lot of fellow christians who believe the Kansas church that protests funerals because "God hates fags", is right. But my personal bottom line is, why bother debating it? Wanting to get info and perspective is fine I guess, I was just more talking about the heated arguments that lead to hurt feelings, and from real life experience, that's where religious debates always lead. I do think intelligent people can have an intelligent debate about these things, but it rarely ends up that way because it becomes emotional.
