  1. As your Dr about Imodium. Quite a few of us here had to take that. One pill does the trick. Yes, you do have to worry about dehydration. Call your Dr.
  2. You are still in your healing stage, so just stick to your Drs orders and things will kick in. The first 6wks are for healing, not so much weight loss. Try not to compare yourself with others, you're on your own journey. Things will kick in,if you follow your instructions, I promise!
  3. Hi Holly, welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place to learn about LBS . You will find knowledge, support &inspiration here too. So stick around and ask questions. I think when your Dr says" looking for surgical practice", he is talking about a Bariatric Center, who handles everything for insurance company. They also give free seminars to learn about the LB. You might even post here giving what city you live in and someone might be able to help find a place. You def want a good surgical team behind you and help you succeed on your journey. Your story pretty much sounds like the rest of us, yoyo dieting until metabolism is shot. I have always been successful taking weight off, but keeping it off is another matter. I'm pleased with my surgery so far. Its not a quick fix. The LB is just a tool and at first takes a lot of work learning to eat slower, chew more and make healthier choices. I wish you the best on your journey!
  4. Congratulations to you both! Best wishes on your journey! If you ever have any questions feel free to pm me.
  5. Was not numbed for my first fill either and it was really no big deal. Just like getting blood drawn. A little stick and all done.
  6. What a gorgeous picture! Your daughter is beautiful and her proud daddy ain't to shabby either! Thanks for posting! I would call this picture a "Proud Moment".
  7. Like everything else, All Dr does things differently!lol Mine is left right below rib cage
  8. I have been on Prilosec for years now and it does work better than Tums. I can't speak of the unfill ,never had that, but I do want you to know that reflux can do a lot of damage to Esophagus and I want you to talk with your Dr right away. But def take the Prilosec or Prevacid. Prilosec usually takes a week before you feel any different. You take care of yourself!
  9. It will work if you want it to. If your support team doesn't support you, we will. After you're healed a glass of wine is ok, a lot of ppl here have it. You can start walking right away, but any heavy lifting and crunches will have to wait 6wks. Most likely will have loose skin, but rather have loose skin then be dead from obesity. Your Dr will answer all these questions for you. We can give you all the advice, but the #1 piece of advice is follow your Drs orders. All Drs are different, we can only give you what our Dr tells us. You'll do fine!
  10. Can't help you b/c I haven't had that problem, but I know there is a lot of ppl here who have. Just wanted to say I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope everything works out well! Good Luck!
  11. Thoughts & prayers for a speedy recovery! Just focus on the prize. You'll be on the banded side in short order! Congrats!
  12. Chez took the words out of my mouth. Awesome! Congratulations! Very proud of you!
  13. BTW, Congratulations on getting a date! Excitement & nerves are all a part of it. Learn all you can about LBS before you're banded and this is a good place for that. Best Wishes!
  14. Most important advise is "Follow your Drs orders"!!!!! Sliming is when you get food stuck and it won't go through your band and your saliva starts building up to try and force it threw. How to avoid sliming, don't get stuck, which means chewing everything to mush and taking very small bites.
  15. Congratulations! Wishing you well!
  16. Believe it or not I was going to tell you I felt boy was in your future! Didn't want to disappoint you if you were hoping for a girl. Congratulations! I'm so happy for you!
  17. Welcome to the forum! You can find a lot of knowledge about LBS here. The only thing you really need to know right off the top, this is not a quick & easy procedure! Read some of the post so you can get an idea. It took me 6mths of hoop jumping for insurance to approve. Most have 2 wks of all liquid diet pre op and I had 30 days of full liquids post op. You have to learn how to eat healthy and stick to your Drs orders. It can take months until the band is restricted enough to help and in between that time, its all you sticking to 1 cup of food 3 times a day. I'm glad you are researching, that is the wises thing! Best wishes!
  18. My Dr said absolutely nothing. Just keep it clean & dry. But all Drs different, give yours a call.
  19. I really haven't heard of ppl with staples. Mostly glue and steri strips. But I did have staples with hysterectomy and it doesn't hurt at all. Tugging but no pain. Good Luck!
  20. Congratulations! Keep us posted!
  21. Normal, normal, normal. Right after surgery your pouch is the size of an egg, plus the swelling. Sip slowly and get your protein in with shakes. Best wishes!
  22. Remember, no one has ever starved to death from a pre op diet.LOL You can do this, mind over matter! Best wishes!
  23. You have your high protein before you go to work, you take a high protein lunch to work with you, chicken salad, tuna comes in 3oz can with crackers, greek yogurt, string cheese, its the law you get a break, plus you are only suppose to take 20mins for a meal. Pure protein makes a protein shake in a take along can. Have high protein for dinner after work. Also keep a huge water bottle at your station, thats what my hairdresser does. If you really want this, you can work it out. Planning ahead is the key. We have no secret take off weight without following the rules. You need WANT POWER, do you have it. Make it work!
