  4. Exactly!!! I also brought the hippo that sat on my grandmother's sewing machine for years with. It's also been everywhere.
  5. Haha! He went to school with me every day (Even had a teddy-bear sided Beauty and the Beast backpack) and was there for my kindergarten graduation too. And my highschool graduation. And when I went to France. And the second time I went to France (and Italy, and London, and Switzerland.) And when I graduated (although I kinda didn't, whoops) from college. There's no way my mother would have even DREAMED about getting rid of him. I'm being buried with that thing!
  6. Wow, the IV beeping was the least of my problems. I had someone in like every flipping three hours to check to make sure I was still alive (via blood pressure and temp and stuff). I just wanted to sleeeeeep! Bring something comforting, especially if you know you might not get a lot of visitors. My parents both work too much to have taken more than my surgery day off, and I will fully admit to being 24 and having a stuffed animal I took in with me. His name is Mr. Bear and I've had him since I was 4. *flexes* Make sure you bring proper clothing - sweats are best for going home. I wore jeans and I was actually okay, but that might not be the case for most people. I also can't sleep without music or something so I had to remember ipod chargers and what not.
  7. Giiiirl I hear you! I'm the same height so it's good to hear that you have the same goal (I was looking at 175, but you know what? 180 sounds good too!) I stepped on the scale this morning and it said 310, which is amazing sine two days ago I swear it said 312. 299 here we come!!
  8. Ooo thanks for this thread. I'd been trying to get together with a friend pre-op for sushi (I've NEVER had it before and I want to try it soooo baaaaaad) but I wasn't sure how something like this would work post-op. Good to hear that people seem to manage it well enough, hopefully I do too!
  9. I'm so scared to cheat, haha. I've been watching that scale go down every other day and I'm CONVINCED if I have anything sweet at all it's going to bounce back up to my original weight. (I know this isn't the case but karma has never been nice to me) If you limit yourself from everything good you're going to go crazy and binge. I've been to a few support group meetings and more than several people have stated this. As long as you keep such things as, let's say a weekly or bi-weekly treat, you should be absolutely fine. I'm living quasi-vicariously through you guys until I stop looking at the scale and work up the courage to visit a Coldstone. I think if I meet my mini goal I'll treat myself to a scoop!
  10. I'm an extremely patient person and I felt the saaaaame way. Just keep reading all the stories that people have to say to keep yourself pumped! You'll be joining us sooner than you think!
  11. See you on the losers bench! Will be thinking about you and all the other slivers for tomorrow
  12. In four months!!! I can only hope to look that good! Grats, chicaaaa!

  16. I'm so glad someone else thought of this too! Hahaha. I don't do heights to well so rides and airplanes are kind of a meh goal for me. I do however want to be able to walk into to say a Target and be able to buy something that will fit. Or a GAP, oh that would be so much betterrrrr. And I want a cute pea coat that doesn't make me LOOK like a pea!
  17. Man, just think about how awesome it's going to fit into those pants every time you start feeling down. That makes me wish I'll stumble across something awesome like that to keep my hopes up! Keep truckin' - you'll get there!
  18. Check out The World According to Eggface. I know a lot of people here have said that her pureed ideas are amazing. Just went shopping today myself - I dont get to have pureeds until Tuesday technically, but I can have fun thinking about all the yummy stuff I'm finally going to get to taste again!
  19. So I was sleeved on 8/7. At my one week post-op appointment I lost four pounds. Yay! But since surgery, I've had a huge problem drinking the appropriate amount of fluids and such. I know lots of people have said that they set timers to remind themselves to drink, but my question is this-- Does Water make anyone else feel kind of sick? Does it get better? I know I'm only a week out, but I do worry about being dehydrated. Also, since I was able to start full liquids this week, I've been dabbling the instant carnation drinks. Every time I try to drink some, my stomach kinda gets this weird... click-y, gas bubble feeling. I don't know how to better describe it other than that =/ hopefully people get what I'm talking about. I'm not sure if this is just my new tummy getting used to the milk, or maybe if I should be looking into soy milk or something? I dont get extreme stomach aches, and I haven't thrown up or anything yet. I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken this opportunity to try a milk alternative. Also-- does anyone else have neck pain? After I came home from the hospital I chalked it up to just sleeping weirdly to get comfortable at night. But now that my incisions don't hurt anymore I've been able to sleep however I want, but I still manage to end up with one during the middle of the day. Just now I went for a walk and instead of my legs or my lower back hurting (woohoo!) it was my neck/shoulders. I know my nurse said that this was a possibility, but this wasn't really an issue in the hospital. Does anyone else have this problem post op and what do you do about it? (no hubby for back massages! maybe I should find one??)

  21. You know, I had wondered about this. When I was in the hospital walking around, I would get the hiccups like CRAZY. And they hurt, tons. Now that I'm home, and I feel like I have something coming on I kind of... brace myself for it. I know that hiccups are more on the side of 'spontaneous' so maybe what I'm thinking of is burping, but even when I had them (for two flippin' hours straight) they did feel weird. I definitely hear you!
