I found these size 6 pair of navy blue pants on a sale rack at Old Navy for 97¢ a little over a year ago...I bought them knowing I would never fit into them but figured wow you cant beat that price brand new not even at a second hand store. I bought them brought them home in hopes of finding someone that could use them. I never did. So now i have made it my goal to fit in these pants within my first year post op! My highest weight since starting with my WLS is 203 current weight 183. My ideal goal is anywhere from 120-130 i would be happy. Weight I should be according to charts for a 5'0 female age 23 is 100lbs. There is no way i want to be that small.

My highest weight all the way up until i got pregnant with my son was 115lbs(after that i never even got back down even close to that number) four yrs later i decided enough was enough and im living in a body i will never ever accept or be comfortable in because its just not me! I think i made a great decision with WLS but it has been so hard tryin to figure out who i am, why i feel so down when i should be feeling great. Its almost like ive fallen deeper into depression then what i already was pre op. Feeling a little lost these past couple of weeks :-\

It's somewhat normal to feel a little down in the beginning. Your body is going through some major changes. Not to mention the trauma from the surgery that it's still recovering from. That can put a drain on anyone mentally. There's always someone here willing to listen and offer advice if you want to talk.

You have an excellent goal also. You'll be in those pants before you know it!

Is it normal to just break down and cry at any moment and time. I just dont know why i have so many mixed emotions one minute im good the next im down. I guess you are right its just a whole different ball game. I absolutely hate food right now... I have to make myself eat. I also have in the back of my mind that i am going to fail and never reach my goal. I guess mainly because i am such a picky eater. The only veggies i really eat is corn or potatoes. So knowing that i need to eat healthier foods scares me into thinking i wont succeed. I dont understand ive never eaten healthy my whole life and was always very skinny and yet once i had my son i could get the weight off no matter what i did. Its all so stressful

Lots of us have to pretty much force ourselves to eat now. If I don't set a timer 4 times a day I would completely skip my meals and it wouldn't even matter to me.

I'm no Dr Phil, but perhaps part of your emotional distress is a subconscious thing. You've made this decision to have your body altered in a way that will effect you the rest of your life. And you're having bouts of telling yourself that you're going to fail and not be a success. That could be a major factor in your overall mood. You have to start believing in yourself. You've already taken the hardest steps. You made the decision to have surgery and followed through with it. The rest from here on out isn't a cake walk, but look at the courage and determination you've already displayed. You can do anything you put your mind to from here forward. You can do this!

And the picky eater thing... I know it's hard sometimes. But don't be afraid to try something new or different. There's a thousand different veggies out there you can try. Ya never know what ya might like if ya just try it.

Thank you so much for all your support. All you said is so true and i appreciate you helping me to open my eyes. I know in time it will get better i just never imagined the beggining being so stressful. Thank you again ;-)

Man, just think about how awesome it's going to fit into those pants every time you start feeling down. That makes me wish I'll stumble across something awesome like that to keep my hopes up!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
