  1. not sure how I feel about this but my doctor has a card that explains the wls and requests that these buffet type restaurants only charge a childs price.I have heard others talk about using them but not sure.
  2. I cant seem to handle straight water and nothing is ever cold enough! I live off of vitamin zero water. I water it down a little because it has carbs but I hated g2 and sobe water. The vitamin zero tastes good and stays down. I also drink one protein shake a day from syntrax nectar choc truffle for added protein and liquids.
  3. My dr told me about a patient of his whose best friend brought her a double cheeseburger and fries in the hospital. She ate it and ended up being hospitalized for three weeks and still isnt right. I wonder about these stories too but people can be dumb.
  4. I had it too. Especially trying to use that thingie. It was at least two weeks before I had clear deep breaths, i am 5 weeks out now.
  5. My surgery was June 23 rd and I cant drink plain water. I drink vitamin zero water and then my protein shakes. I feel good but struggle to get in food and liquids
  6. I had the same problems. Mine wasnt planters fascitias. Instead I had heel spurs. I saw the xrays and sure enough I had a tiny piece of triangle shaped bone off my heel. I had to ditch all my cheap shoes and wear orthotics. I slept with a special brace called the straussberg sock ( you can order online). I had two cortisone shots and ultrasound therapy. It honestly took a year but it is better now
  7. Anestheia can bring on your period no matter where you are in your cycle. Give it another month.
  8. The o hers have ut right. It seems like a vaso vagel response. My husband went in for a bilateral hernia repair and this happened to him after the first two incisions and he was full of air. They stopped the surgery and rescheduled it for a few weeks later. All his cardio workups were clear. It happened again doing the second surgery but this time it was at the end. I am so sorry!
  9. My husband of 10 years is furious that I had the surgery and has been a total jerk when the subject of the surgery or food comes up. I honestly dont get his reasoning and it seems extreme and selfish. He SAYS that I didnt need the surgery and that I was selfish for having it done esp since it isnt reversible. We get along great in every other sense but not on this subject. I have lost 30 lbs so far and he says nothing. I am ready to hit my head against the wall with his stubborness.

Perhaps I should have started this before the surgery instead of one month post but its all good. My process happened so fast the I had my consult and then surgery 5 weeks apart. My insurance paid in full less my deductible. I feel good and see the transition. I am down just over 30 lbs even though I weighed this amount last summer. I have dropped two sizes and promptly donated those clothes knowing I will never be THAT size again. I have an entire closet of clothes from size 18 to a size 12. Looking forward to wearing everything until I reach the point that I am less than a 12 and need to shop :-) I have a few struggles about my sleeve. I am never hungry and have to force myself to eat. The same goes for drinking too. Regular water makes me thirstier so for now I live on vitamin water. I miss diet coke and not drinking while I eat too. Lastly my marriage has changed. I probably should have said this first but I am in denial. My husband was against the surgery and has held firm to the idea that this was the biggest mistake of my life. He is wrong of course and at the moment I am not even going to spend more time on the subject but to say, I hope he comes around.

Even though I have always been overweight in my adult years, I have been active. It would down right piss me offwhen people say just exercise. There mouths would fall open when I saw, I have two young kids, work out twice a day (cardio in the a.m. and weights with a trainer or fitness classes at night). In my spare time, I also played co ed softball twice a week. I found out I had thyroid disease just after college as the freshmen fifteen would steadily be added each year thereafter. I would gain and re-lose the weight repeatedly. After I married and had kids I steadily went from 165 to 276 at my highest. I started having sports injuries such as heel spurs and torn muscles along the way which would stop the workouts to say the least. In Dec 2011 my husband's job brought us 800 miles from home. I have been here 7 months and still dont have any friends. I joined several softball leagues hoping to find an outlet. I know I am a decent player so I was shocked when my coach batted me last game after game even though there was girls on the team who never played before. I finally asked him why and was shocked with his answer. He said well, to be honest, I have no place else to bat you given you size. In fact, I see you as a liability on the team. Granted my batting average is about 800. But he didnt see that, he just saw a fatso playing ball. I should have told him offbut instead I waiting until after the game and cried all the way home. It was then I decided to get help. I see it as a blessing that being so new to town, people I meet from now on wont know the morbidly obese me.
  12. not sure what his deal is honestly. He says he is scared I will get skinny and leave him but I think if you dont want me to leave later, then dont be a jerk now lol.
  13. Besides what has already has been mentioned, there were three things that my surgeon said that stayed with me and led me to choose the sleeve. First, at some point the band WILL stop working. it might be 20 years from now but that was a real concern since I am in my 30's and in for the long haul. Second, there are lots of ways to cheat your band such as drinking with food to push the food thru so you can eat more. Last but prbably the most important to me, you have a foreign item in you. My husband had hernia repair with mesh. We found out three years later that the mesh had been recalled the day before surgery and his surgeon didnt know and used it. It can cause death but too risky to remove. It was an eye opener that made me scared to consider the lapband.

  15. I have the same fear. My husband likes my curves and is being kind of a jerk since I did the surgery last month. Sigh.
  16. I was told never but I know people do anyway. I miss diet soda. I gave it long ago but I miss it lol.
  17. I found great recipes including pizza made from cauliflower. I did "liquid" taco soup that I found online. Last week I went to a party and brought the lasagna bites. Everything agreed with my sleeve and I am 4 weeks out today.
  18. I was sleeved 6/23 and told I can now start solids. Seems right.
  19. A friend of mine sells the products as he did many other products over the two years Ihave known him. He shoves the mlm program down our thoughts. No idea if it works but the concept turned me off.
  20. I can't drink regular water for some reason but can tolerate sobe water and vitamin zero water. I have to have them both really cold. Hope you feel better!!
  21. I am in the same stage as you. I think between 700 and 900 but I am not 100% on that either.

Yep! I had the same fears going in. I am 3 weeks out today and feel really good. It is a learning process so nothing is perfect but I feel good. I have lost 30 lbs between preop and the past 3 weeks. I haven't thrown up yet but some things stay down better than others. The best advice I have heard from my friends who have gone through this and don't have extra skin is to start wtih light weights once you get approval to work out. I am walking about a mile a day and will see my surgeon next week for a check up. I bought hair, skin, nails vitamins at Costco but haven't started on them yet. As far as weight loss goes, I am pleased so far LOL. My surgeon said that for my height I can easily be 108. Honestly I would be thrilled to be at 140 LOL.
  23. My grandmother died 5 days after my surgery. It was a 16 hour drive to get there or a 2 hour flight. My surgeon approved for me to fly but not drive. He insisted that I get up and walk the aisles at least once an hour and I had to buy/wear compression knee high socks. I didn't have any issues. I checked in with them once when I got there and later on in the week. I stayed a total of two weeks so I will see him in a few days for my first follow up.
  24. Syntrax nectar brand stayed down in the beginning. So did EAS carb control. I was sooooo thirsty for the first two weeks even as I was drinking. I am just about three weeks now and it has gotten better. What a difference this week has been!
