  1. Hello! I know what I'm about to say is crazy, but I'm so glad you posted this. 2 months after my sleeve, I found out I had a begin tumor in my spinal cord that caused nerve damage in my body from the waist down, and a congenital brain malformation. While I don't have the same neurological issues as you, I COMPLETELY know and understand how painful it can be! I will def. be praying for you as you go on this journey. Please feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to!
  2. You'll get there! I did, and I even enjoy the occasional Blue Bell. . It was a good feeling. I was in the ER, and I was really upset/nervous, but when the nurse told me she had to get a smaller cuff, I managed to squeak out a grin. Lol
  3. I know we've never met, so please forgive my frankness, but this is a horrible idea. When you hit 6 months, treat yourself to new clothes! Even if I didn't have the money, I would go try on smaller sizes and it felt great! I'm not saying I've never eaten one bad thing, and I don't stray from my healthy eating at times (like yesterday when i had to have some ice cream. I live in Texas, and its summer!) but I do not recommend treating/rewarding with food. Last week I had to have a pediatric blood pressure cuff used on my arm b/c I'm "so tiny!" That was way better than pizza!!!!
  4. When I was about 4-5 months post op, I had some pizza from Dominos. Tasted great. Then I puked it all up and my stomach hurt real bad. That was the last time I had pizza. Lol
  5. How long ago were you sleeved?
  6. Not only will it catch up, but one day you will find yourself at the store with your mother, screaming in the middle of the chip aisle that you, "just need a little queso for this recipe! Not a jar big enough to feed a football team!" Then you'll think, " wait, I could have easily polished this off pre-op in 2 days!" ... Or maybe thats just me...
  7. I didn't tell that many people pre-op. I was confident in my decision and I didn't want to hear the "horror stories," etc. but I've had no issues telling people post op. Most of the time I wait until they ask how I've lost weight, etc. but sometimes I bring it up. I've lost close to 140 in a bit over a year, so it's pretty obvious, I think. Why hide it? Also, I had some other serious health issues that I discovered after my WLS ( and completely non WLS related) and people kept trying to shove food in me, thinking that would help. Lol. I know everyone is different. I really don't have much of a filter so I have no problem being honest with people. Whether its being honest about my surgery, or telling people to mind their own business if Ive been given a negative reaction about it. Which has maybe happened once.
  8. Please don't be discouraged! You are doing fantastic! I know it's hard, but I agree weighing everyday is not a good idea. I waited a long time before I weighed post op. i tried to weigh every Friday around the same time. Also, if you have a Nintendo Wii, I recommend weighing on a Wii Fit board. It keeps track of your weight and you can see your progress charted over time. You got this!
  9. It's an amazing feeling! Good for you!
  10. I'm really happy for you, but slightly disappointed this thread isn't about the greatest boy band from my childhood.
  11. Please move to Texas and cook for me! I'm willing to shop for the food and do the dishes! Lol. I'll have to add this to the list of foods I'll think about cooking one day. Ha!
  12. I also hate to cook. I live alone, which makes for a truck load of leftovers. I eat a lot of protein bars, and string cheese. This is really easy to fit in with my work schedule, too. Sometimes I cook meals for dinner, and sometimes my parents invite me over and send me home with leftovers. Lol. Also, I try to add the Special K protein pack mixes to my water. Every bit helps! Oh, and I love to snack on mixed nuts, too.
  13. What are you eating/drinking? I didn't have to do a pre-op clear liquid diet, but post op I alternated like an ounce of a clear liquid every 15 mins. I set a timer. I had chicken broth, different flavors of sugar free Jello, crystal light "popscicles" aka ice cubes I had made, Water, etc. I know it gets boring, but just think that it's worth it long term.
  14. Hooray for you! Keep up the good work!
  15. Fries in a Wendy's Frosty = delicious! At least it used to be... Lol.
  16. Hey UTGal99! I cannot recommend that you do or do not have the surgery, only you can make that decision. I can however share with you a little bit about the experiences I've had since I was sleeved in March '11. After I was sleeved I did develop a truck load of gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed. Yes, it was painful, and yes it sucked to have another surgery, but it really wasn't that big of a deal for me. In the middle of all this, however, I found out I had a 8 inch tumor in my spinal cord and a somewhat rare congenital brain malformation. Thankfully, the tumor was benign, however it caused a lot of nerve damage. So, since my sleeve surgery in March '11, I've had 4 other surgeries... The gallbladder, 2 spinal related surgeries and brain surgery a little over a month ago. I tell you all of this, not to garner sympathy, or sway you in any way. I tell you this b/c I am the google queen when it comes to surgeries, diseases, conditions, etc. I've learned to take all of the " horror stories" with a grain of salt. For every bad story, there are 10 amazing ones that aren't being told. At least thats what I think. I def. think the opinions of others matter, but don't let it carry the most weight in your decision making. Oh, also, the tumor was completely unrelated to my WLS. I had been growing that bad boy for years, and I had I not had the surgery and lost a decent amount of weight, I would probably be paralyzed right now. Good luck to you!
  17. Yummy! Thanks for sharing! Think I might have to try it with pesto.
  18. I say go for it! I don't think it could hurt you, and if you aren't getting any results after a few weeks, just try something different. I've used the Wii for some exercises. It's fun!
  19. I completely understand what everyone is saying. Now I'm trying to adjust to the new me, but that's not a bad thing. I catch my reflection in windows, etc. and frequently stop and look b/c I can't believe it's my reflection. At the same time, I see old pics of my self and think, " I can't believe I was soon big!" It's def. an adjustment, but I like adjusting to the new me. . Good luck to everyone on your WL journey and may you enjoying watching your body transform as much as I have enjoyed my transformation!
  20. I really like to run in the shallow end of the pool. Great resistance and fairly low impact. But I recommend wearing water socks b/c it tears up the bottom of your feet.
  21. I love to swim! My parents have a pool so I have the luxury of using theirs and having privacy, but even before I lost weight swimming was a given. I live in Texas and it's too hot to not get in! But it's a great workout!
