Isn't it cool to exercise because you enjoy it and to be fit and not because you should to lose weight? I have a whole new relationship with training.

SummersGirl got a reaction from kwindham in TUMMY TUCK TOMORROW MORNING
My plastic surgeon in Canada who is doing my breast reduction, breast lift, and Lipo (in that area) would also do an all around the body tummy tuck/butt lift at the same time if I wanted (and was loaded with cash) but he said they would not do lipo on the thighs at that time as it was too much. He's a great surgeon an we have great healthcare, so I don't think there's anything wrong with getting procedures done simultaneously. I'm only doing the boobs as it covered by healthcare and paying $1500 for the lipo. I'd consider going to Mexico for the tummy. If being scared of something means that you shouldn't do it, I would not have had the sleeve. I am so glad I fought my fear and had it done anyway.
If this is coming off as argumentative or rude, I don't mean it to. I just think its up to the surgeons, what they feel they can do and what they think is safe. I have a friend who had implants, arm lift, timmy tuck with muscle repair, and lipo all at the same time and after the first 5 days of pain, she was fine and super happy I have another friend who is doing a similar surgery in about a week so I'll have to see how she does. Everyone is different and every surgeon is different.

Ok so finally had surgery yesterday so I can join in the fun!
    Highest weight 268.6
    Surgery weight 228.9
    Goal weight 218.0
I have no idea how fast or slow I'm going to lose right away, so I'm just picking a good number.
So I'm already down to 209.2 so with 8 days to go, I would like to get down to 204. I'm losing fairly slowly so don't want to shoot for the moon.

@butterthebean You're absolutely correct!!!! I did this to be healthier. I am trying every day to figure things out, but very happy about my decision. I will think positively about my Moms surgery next month.

Did you have surgery to be healthy or to be skinnier than your mom? Be happy for yourself....then her. Don't begrudge her a healthier life. Even if she is trying to one up you, be a better person than that.

I totally relate. I was bigger than I thought I was....way bigger. Now I am skinnier than I think I am. I turned sideways the other day to "squeeze" through 2 fence posts and I missed them both by a mile. There was room for 2 of me in there but I didn't think there was going to be. The other day a friend asked me why I was still walking like a fat guy. I didn't think I was. In my mind's eye I am as graceful as a swan. LOL

Well I think I was a bit too optimistic!!! I came within 7# of my goal. In the meantime, I did hit several personal goals...1) lowest weight since I was married (almost 17 years ago...even with numerous dieting attempts in between)...2) weigh less then hubby!!!...3) feel in control of my life for 1st time in more years then I care to admit...4) don't recognize myself in the mirror due to loss (used to be the other way..didn't recognize due to my size).
I have to say that this journey is filled with a mixture of so many emotions...happiness, excitement, nervousness, fear, etc. I wish all of us continued support & success on our journey to healthier & happier lives.
    Final New Year's weigh-in = 202
So officially stand at approx. 66# lost since surgery (7/17) & 76# total since Dec 2011.
So hoping I hit onderland before my birthday on January 17th!!!!

I have to say iggys story shouldn't be ignored it definitely is a cautionary tale for anyone considering this surgery. However I feel that some posters sometimes can be unnecessarily harsh and rude in their responses. I get that they are passionate about this but there, in my opinion, is never an excuse to be rude when someone is posting questions or looking for support because you can get your point across without attacking people. that's the negativity I see here, and just because some have stated their dislike for this negativity doesnt mean they are ignoring truth or should find a different site. It would be wise to remember you catch more flies with honey then vinegar

My dad's dead because of complications due to his weight (over 450 pounds at 5'11"). He was overweight my entire life, and because of his weight, he wasn't an ACTIVE part of my life. He didn't go to my parent teacher conferences, we didn't throw the ball in the yard, he didn't go to my concerts or games. He sat, and I was his legs. At home, he sat in his chair. Out of the home, he sat in his car.
My dad missed SO much because of his weight. He had a chance at WLS when it was much riskier (about 30 years ago), and he chickened out.
Before he died, my dad was very ill. He was in and out of the hospital for the last 5 years of his life. When he would be hospitalized, he was there for months at a time. We have family photos visiting him in the hospital.
    My kids don't remember him.
I remember him, but I was SO mad at him for so long because he let his weight interfere with his health and his duties at being MY dad. So yes, the surgery is dangerous, but so is NOT having surgery.
I want to be a mom to my kids, but I want to be a mom who is there and not sitting at home because I can't fit in the seats of the auditorium or walk up to the bleachers.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience and congrats on your success! If you think you've seen negativity trying visiting the Self Pay/Mexico forum! I'm going to Mx in March for surgery and it is an overwhelming choice on top of an overwhelming choice. Ironically most who post negatives didn't have surgery in Mx,! They just can't believe someone would... Sigh...
Have a safe and successful recovery and please stick around!

If you choose to share with others, that is fine. If you choose not to, that is fine as well. Everyone has their own personal reasons for choosing to share or not share. That is what is amazing about our bodies, it is the one thing we truly own and can choose to do with as we please. Your body, your choice. It is not my place to judge whether you choose to share you choice to have surgery with others, anymore than it is your place to judge me and whether I chose to share my choice. I also choose to be respectful of your choices, and not place labels upon you for those choices.

I feel sorry for you that your concept of "beliefs" is so twisted that you go crazy over someone offering you well meant support to help you feel better about your situation. You made one thing clear and that is you are rude, and we all know what they say about karma
