Misinformed
I agree Mis73, I was one of the not so informed! I did a lot of my research myself, so that helped and being able to ask here. Like I have said in the past, with me it was my diet and food changed that are my biggest obstacle. It is still a learning curve and with the info I have gotten here and the programs (I just loaded the fitness pal to my phone!) I have learned about, hopefully I will get better soon!

Bandster Hell Is Winning! Aaghh!
I feel your pain! I feel the same way. I am still 2 weeks away from a fill due to scheduling conflicts and I am a wreck! Last night was bad... I had to walk away from the table b/c I just wanted to eat more! I am so hungry! I honestly do usually eat more than a cup a serving right now, I am just using better choices. I dont go for seconds and I dont fill my plate up either. I know I am better than before, but its horrible! Good luck to you

I Back
No, I did not receive any diet instructions, my nutrionist was not very good. I think the thought of Celiac spooked her a bit. I will try what you just gave me. I just wanted to see what some other people ate too, I know I will be better when I have the exact diet down... and also a fill, I havent even had one yet.

I Back
Hi, if I want GF toast or bread, I actually really like Udi's. I really try to stay away from carby foods though. Not a Pasta eater anyway... its hardest for me to portion control at this point. my food choices are not always great either, but I eat fast and eat too much at a sitting! I have such a hard time with this! I have to work hard at thinking about my food. Tonight I got up and left the table b/c I was not hungry anymore, but I wanted to keep eating! Ugh! Stephanie

Sleep Study For No Reason?
I also had to have it done. My surgeon requires it for all patients. I never had a problem more than once in a while snoring and the outcome of the study was that I do snore, more than I thought, but no sleep apnea. This didnt hold up my surgery either. Wishing you the best!

High Protein/low Fat Foods...
I like salmon too! Seems to be really popular! Bake it in tin foil with pesto on top of it! YUM! my son loves it too! Tuna is a life saver too. Greek yogurt is good, cottage cheese is yummy, working with the Babybel cheeses too Parmesan Tilapia is good, ingredients fixed to be lowfat though. very good

Misinformed
Well I agree too, but I was one of those that came on here and asked some "stupid" questions. I needed to hear it again from people who went through it. I wanted to know about liquid diets, because there is so much out there and doctors with different information. I was glad to get the answers, but I asked questions. I am sorry if some of you felt I was not informed enough. I was, and still am, scared through this journey as I make mistakes... and need some affirmation that I am not alone and can come here and get some encouragement. My nutrionist was horrible now that I have found out what others have gone through. She asked me what questions I had, not knowing what to ask, I got nothing from her. I have no calorie intake to watch for, nothing on proteins vs veggies and fruits.. its horrible. I depend on what people ask here right now, for I cannot afford to pay for another nutrionist today. its tough. but I will make it through with some help. I think that is what this board is for? To help us that don't know? I have some answers, but not everything. Thanks for all the help I receive now and in the future!!

Do You Have A Favorite Brand Of Protein Shakes?
I buy the premade in a can shakes from Trader Joe's. My doc recommended them and after a few bad ones, I finally drove the distance to Trader Joe's and found them and loved them! Good luck!

Questions About Diet???
It took me a bit to try soda again and it did bother me a bit. Nothing too horrible, but it did. I generally keep all carbonation out, but I have had popcorn with no bother at all. Good luck!

Better Days, Better Choices
Between last night and today I had a better time with my choices and the amount of food and exercise I had. I had a lot of company over for a clam bake last night, clams, oysters, crabs, mussels, corn, broccoli salad, the works! Everyone ate a lot. I did have some, but no where near what I would have normally eaten. Today we went to the boardwalk, rides and such for the kids, I had a lemonade... everyone else ate and drank and had ice cream, I waited to eat until I got home for my grilled chicken. And I did a whole lot of walking on that boardwalk too! I am happy with my results for the past two days. I sat watching them eat, thinking, someday I will fit into this booth comfortably again!

Feeling Down :(
The thing I try to remember is I got this way from eating the way I have been for 40 years! I have to consciously unlearn that everyday! It is not easy. I find myself doing fine during the day, but at night... yuck! I want to eat everything! I think we all will get this. It does take some effort as I used to eat and not even realize I was. I find myself still looking in the fridge and then walking away knowing I didnt really want anything. Sometimes I fail and snack. I have not had a fill yet, so I can eat fine myself. Its a process I think. I am not perfect, but I know I will stop with the bad choices because this is what I want more than I want that darn food! Good luck and you will succeed!!

Wow, I Really Saw It Today!
This evening I went to the local pizza joint to pick up some food for my family, I really didnt want to cook for everyone, lazy day! This food had nothing to do with me as I cannot even eat at a pizza place, as I am a Celiac also, that would just be really bad! Anyway, while the long wait commenced.. I was watching the people sitting down that were eating. I noticed something so very different for the first time, "regular" people just dont attack food the way I do! They eat normally. At a slower pace. I couldnt believe my eyes! I read a previous post on here about this "phenom" but I have never seen it actually in play. People take time to enjoy food. A woman ate two slices of pizza, slowly and enjoyed her bites. If I could have eaten that I would have gobbled down that in a quarter the time. I am still new and working on learning to chew (which is getting better) and to SLOW down the whole eating process! This is just showing me how much my relation to food is messed up! I never realized before why I had the problems with food that I do, besides just being a foodie! I really need to take time to get to a nutrionist to get a diet that is going to work with me on this band! My nutrionist that I saw before the surgery was inept to say the least and I am swimming out of Water here trying to figure out how much and what I should eat. Thanks for listening to me ramble...

Did You Keep Your Surgery A Secret?
I only told a few people. I am afraid of the comments about everything I put in my mouth or if for some reason this doesnt work for me. I have only lost 10 pounds so far, not been filled at all yet, but I am nervous. A lot of surgeries and such never seem to work for me, I am always the one sick or with issues, so I am afraid this wont work either!

Surgery Date!
How great for you! I had to go to the pulmonolgist for a sleep apnea eval. I did a quick home sleep test, got the results and that was it for that. I saw a gastro b/c I have Celiacs and ulcerative colitis too and he wanted a clear from them too. I was not required to do a cardio appt though. I know a lot of people on here did, they should be able to help there. Good luck! How exciting!

Holy Portion Size!!

Woot Woot Crossed Legs
I cannot wait to cross my legs. I was watching a woman in a doctors office across from me and she sat with her legs crossed and was thinking "will I be able to do that one day?" Congratulations!!!!
