  1. Kind of off topic, but as a 7 day post op bander, what is "post op band hell"? Thx!
  2. I love the Mio lemonade. Reminds me of drinking Country Time as a child.
  3. I had surgery yesterday and even though I've had nothing but 2oz of broth at a time, I'm up 5lbs. I reckon It's the iv fluids so I'm not worried about it. Feeling blessed and excited.
  4. I didn't want anyone ruining my excitement. I had surgery yesterday and mentioned it casually on fb today. My journey, my rules.
  5. I've lost weight a gazillion times, but it's better at hide and seek than I am. Mentally, I'm a different person this time around. I feel so blessed to have insurance paying for my surgery. I will not waste this amazing opportunity I've been given. Period.
  6. I too am at peace with my decision and am chosing to only tell my supportive family. I've been successful presurgery. I'm excited to see what the next step of this journey will bring! Good luck! JugHugs!
  7. My surgeon has done more lapbands than any other in the state. He said he has yet to meet a liver he couldn't work around. He has some patients who did NO pre-op diet, but were fine. When I put in for my time off at work for the surgery, they fired me. 4.5 years I've worked there and I've been with the company since the beginning. It's been a challenging pre-op emotionally to say the least. I've done the best I could and just stuck to a low-carb diet with 1 or 2 shakes a day. 12 people will give you 12 different answers. Good luck!
  8. My insurance required a 6-month doctor supervised weight loss (Aetna), but I had an old Weight Watchers log and they accepted it. First consult was 6/22. Surgery scheduled 8/24. So close and so excited!!
  9. Has anyone taken Phentermine to help with hunger on their pre-op diet? Just curious.
  10. What great answers, thank you! The yogurt is just flavored. I've fantasized about diluting it with vanilla almond milk. I really appreciate the great questions to ask. I appreciate the help in helping my expectations be as realistic as possible. Thanks again!!
  11. ((Pinning RockStar of Awesomeness Help Badge on Stacey)) Thank you!!!
  12. First post so please be patient. I've seen bits and pieces of these questions addressed, and many may be answered by my consult on Tuesday, but I wanted to get some insight from those in the field. ~ how big of pills can you take or have you switched over everything to liquids? (I'm on Zoloft, a tiny pill) ~ Do you ever drink soda? I'm worried I will miss the bubbles of my diet Dr. Pepper. How does drinking carbonated drinks feel with a lapband? ~ what specific questions about my surgeon's experience should I ask? ~ Why is it so critical that everything be sugar free? It seems many of the sf foods are higher in carbs to fill in flavor. ~ my go-to yogurt is Dannon Light and fit toasted coconut. Is there something I can add to it to make it "drinkable"? ~ What time frame does insurance use your BMI to calculate approval? I'm 41 right now, but worried about losing weight too soon and disqualifying myself, particularly if I have to document a 6 month effort. My doc and I have been working on my weight for years, but I'm not sure what they're specifically looking for in my records. I'm making strides to lose on my own, but at the same time, don't want to sabotage my approval. I'm sure they'll be a gazillion more, but these are my biggies. Thank you!! JugHugs - Kirsten
  13. Sorry, hit the wrong button. Was trying to type Dr. Keith Mcewen on my phone but accidentally sent Dr. E.

  15. Hi! I have my consults next week with Dr. Mcewen. Just curious about your impression now that you're further along in your journey. So far, I've been really impressed. Thanks! - Kirsten
  16. I have selected Dr. McEwen for my surgery. I've been very impressed with his staff and their follow up. I feel like a real person, not a number. I'll update as time goes on. Having my consults next Tuesday. Excited!!!
