How often do you weigh yourself?
Since I began with preop Ive tried to just stick with once a week. I was banded on 10/28 and just weighed myself today. I don't have a scale at home but have one in my office. Today was my first day back at work so I weighed. But I weighed myself at least twice today. Think it's because I couldn't believe my eyes. lol. Anyway, I'd like to stick with once a week because I tend to get down if I do it more often, but we'll see.

October 2010 (Bootiful Bandsters) Thread
I was banded 10/28/10. First day back at work and I'm very tired and sore. Did anyone else feel kind of cold and a little dizzy or not quite with it? I felt fine when I was home and could lay down often or sit down often. I think maybe I should have stayed home until monday. And I feel like my left shoulder hurts all the time. I knew that gas would cause that after surgery but should it still be there? Did it hurt when your guys stomach growled? What is sliming? I havent vomited or burped up anything but sometimes feel that maybe my shoulder hurts because I'm drinking too much too fast? I'm in constant fear that I'm going to make my band slip... Like it's super fragile or something. Am I just being neurotic? lol it's happened before haha

Surgery soon and want a baby!
Weighing the decision of banding vs having a baby first here. My fiance had a baby with someone else 3 years ago(before my time) and the mom was in an accident and lost the baby. My fiance still occasionally cries about it. I have 2 kids already and though i listen and try to comfort him, there is no way i could understand the pain he feels. I told him we would try for a baby and we did for about 5 months. I weigh 285 and have PCOS(my second child 2 and half years ago was a HUGE shock, never thought id have more) so I feel like i need to lose the weight and then we'll be successful but i also feel a little selfish making him put his baby plans on hold for a year. My band date is Oct.28th so getting close and I'm going to do it because I feel for the health of our future baby i need to lose the weight. But he doesnt really get that I don't think and lately he seems more sad about "Isabella" and while I know our child could never replace Isabella, I think he's sad because he was looking forward to having the joy of expecting another. Am I doing the right thing? I think so but want a second or third opinion ;o)

Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
I agree 100 %! I like knowing I'm not the only one in good and bad situations. I think the point of the site would be if you dont want to be a part of a negative thread, avoid it. and maybe start a new collection of threads in an area labeled "positivity only". As a new person to this site, I like both the negative and the positive and when I read something I don't like, I go to a different area. People need to be able to state their feelings in order to accept this change in their lives. And maybe they are perpetually negative, but that's their right. Perhaps they feel you all are too perpetually positive? Anyway, my 2 cents is I like all of it the good and the bad, I'm glad this site is here. I don't know anyone with a band and really don't even have friends or family around that are morbidly obese like I am. So I'm happy that I don't have to feel alone.

So upset with my Dr
Your doctor sounds ignorant. People who have been thin all their lives don't truly understand the desire obese people have to lose weight. Or the amount of work they have put in to trying to lose weight over the years. Do what you feel is right and as a nurse, i agree with the previous poster, get a new doctor if possible. Some doctors tend to be omnipotent and think they are always correct. Unfortunately for them, they are only humans too and sometimes their bedside manner is lacking in the sensitivity area. Good luck!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Noblesville/Indianapolis Indiana
Hi I'm 30 a mother of 2 girls. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 28th and on wednesday i started my preop diet. It's kind of a struggle on and off. Although seems to be getting easier. I have about 140-150 lbs I'd like to lose. I'm engaged to my live in boyfriend and my children are 12 and 2. After i lose the weight, I would like to have 1 or 2 more children. Excercise is a constant motivation struggle for me.

Just Can't Drink these Shakes!
I feel for you Angel, I started my pre-op diet yesterday. It consists of advantage bariatric shakes. They are powder and only water can be added. It's like lumpy hot chocolate only cold and with no sugar. It's horrid. I'm allowed up to 160 cals of sf jello, sf popsicles, and broth. I nearly gag with each shake. I have to drink 6 of these a day. Yesterday i drank 5. I couldn't do another without vomiting i dont think... I'm gonna do it though. I refuse to give up! We can do this together ;o)

October 2010 Bandsters!!
Good luck ) Ok i have some questions... probably more of a complaint really... lol I'm on the bariatric advantage shakes, 6 a day with broth, sf jello, sf popsicles, allowed. My head is freaking killing me. My eyes hurt too. Is this normal? Also my mind is playing tricks on me. Trying to convince me I dont really need/want this surgery. Making me crave salty fatty things that I dont even eat... I feel like I'm going crazy... This is day two. Yesterday i only drank 5 shakes. I couldn't choke down another. Is it going to get better? Does this headache go away soon? I know I'm not going to die but I'm sure not feeling very strong right now, mentally that is. Band date is oct. 28th. Did anyone else start getting a little cold feet?

Tomorrow is the Day!
Hope all goes well and a quick recovery for you ;o)

Very upset and disappointed.
As a nurse, one concern I would have with going for another surgery would be the complications you have had with both of your previous surgeries... Good luck with the battle you are waging within yourself, it is very hard and feels pretty terrible but you can overcome it.

Acne w/PCOS
I am scheduled to have surgery on oct 28 and my skin was one pretty important thing i was hoping would improve so i'm kind of dissapointed that it doesnt seem to be a pcos symptom that leaves with the weight. oh well would still definitely want the lap band ;o)
