Day 4 Pre-op Dr Visit Update
Feeling pretty good today. Maybe about 65% better! Visited the doc today. Everything is looking good. I learned that I have the "standard band" placed not a large one. He gave me an RX for my thrush (from antibiotics and dehydration after surgery). I can start FULL liquids on Thursday. This is BIG for me as I have been on a clear liquid and Protein shake diet since January 23rd!! Adding in runny oatmeal for Breakfast and drinkable yogurt will be huge for me!! I started the pre-op diet on Jan 23 at 236 Today I weighed in at 216 I know.....wow! Hope everyone is having a great day?

4 Days Post Op
I was banded on the 7th as well. While we are healing and in some discomfort, these feelings are normal. I do feel better each day....hang in there......we are "doing it".

Im so hungry and surgery is on Feb 7
I see the doc this morning. I was 222 the day of surgery and 218 today. I lost 18 pounds from start of pre-op (2 weeks liquid diet and then 4 days of post op).

Im so hungry and surgery is on Feb 7
I want to say right after surgery (the first 12 hours) for me....the pain was about a 7. Pain meds helped. I took them every 4-6 hours religiously. As of yesterday, I no longer needed the pain meds but still a little sore at the port site. I was up and moving around right after surgery to move gas. And then continued to do so over the weekend. I still feel gas discomfort but "moving" does help. I am not sure any of the anti-gas meds ever helped me. I am pretty sure the "thrush" is from dehydration. I had a hard time with liquids the first 12 hours and then it got better.

Surgery went well. I was in much more pain and discomfort than I anticipated. The "gas" is crazy ridiculous. But I am 4 days post op and feel much better....pain is subsiding (gas may take a few more days). I see my doc today for a follow up...which is good because I think I developed "thrush" after surgery. Gross I know...another discomfort I just want to go away. Thank you for following up with me....how are you doing?

Not doing well on pre-op :(
I agree! It was pretty brutal. I drank all the shakes, had the broth for dinner, scheduled the sf,ff, jello for a snack and drank tons of crystal lite. Good luck...it goes by fairly fast. Try and keep yourself busy.

Feelings after being banded
I am sure the "what did I do to myself" crossed my mind the first day! It's common when we are in pain and not feeling well.

Surgery Pain
In addition to the gas pain...the incision area where they sutured in the port was very painful. I would have to say the first 2 days my pain was a 7 and overall uncomfortableness was a 9. I'm 3 day post op and feel much, much better.

Banded 2/5
Kink in tubing? How does that happen? And how did you know?

How come i dont feel like I am doing that well
Call your docs office tomorrow if you feel like your not getting better. Recovery take some time. It took me the better part of 2 days to really keep any liquids down at all.

Banded 2/7/13
It takes a few days sweetie. Hope things start to feel better soon.

Banded 2/7/13
That is so awesome that you are feeling so good. I am still taking pain meds religiiously and only had trouble getting liquids in the first 24 hours. I am starting to feel better now. Congrats and good luck!

Awaitings surgery and new beginning
Anxiety and the jitters is normal. All of those issues went right out the window when I was finally banded. The surgery goes very fast and I had a great anesthiologist that listed 20 things more dangerous then the surgery. The first on the list was.....getting into a car. You'll do great!

Finally banded yesterday
Ugh! That cant be fun. Just thinking if I had my period on top of feeling the way I do? It might make me cry. I too am super, super sore today (mostly by port area). I was banded Thursday.

Banded 2/7/13
The gas x helps but getting up to walk feels like it works faster.

Finally banded yesterday
I was banded on Thurs and I am still very sore. I am religiously taking the pain meds as they are giving me some pain relief. Walking does help as well. I am feeling a "little" better each day but I am still pretty sore. Rest, rest, rest....good luck!

Emotional after surgery?
I'm not so much emotional as I am nervous and anxious with the pain, lack of sleep, healing slowly. I am sure the journey will bring me to an emotional basket case state at some point as well. We are mourning our old habits...as bad as they were for us...they still provided some sort of comfort and safety. Change is hard and scary.....but I know it will be worth it.

Protein shake flavorings and recipes?
How are you feeling 3 days out? I had mine done yesterday and I am feeling pretty beat up! But happy~

starting liquid diet for pre op
Drink lots and lots of water, crystal light, etc. Don't go anywhere without having a bottle of water with you. Good luck!

I have crossed over to band land.....
Ditto for me. Way more sore in my port area today...gas seems to be moving but can feel it settle in my back and chest too. I doubt I am getting enough liquids in. Drank maybe a 1/2 cup of Water and 1/2 cup of apple juice. Sipping on chicken broth right now. I am taking my pain killers religiously. Congrats on your LB.

I have crossed over to band land.....
I was banded yesterday at 10am. Everything went fine and was home by 8pm. I was having trouble getting control of my pain and was quite nauseous most of the day. They got me up to walk right away and that really did seem to help the gas pressure in my chest and back. Slept on a recliner and got up every few hours to walk and get more Water. I have only been able to get down a total of 3 oz of apple juice and maybe 3 oz of water in the last 12 hours. Hunger is not an issue at this point! It's quite the opposite. I will try and open a Protein shake today and sip on that for a few. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the well wishes! It is still a bit surreal that I finally have the LB. It has always been a destination for me and so to finally have it is very overwhelming!

Surgery Dates!
Thanks everyone! Things went pretty well. I finally understand the "gas" issues that accompanies the pain! All the things that people said to do helped...i.e., walked, Gas-x, etc. I was also very naseuous yesterday but I have been taking meds for that too. I slept in a recliner last night. Dosed on and off there and now I am up again to get my walk in. I am so glad to have finally been banded. I am not hungry, at all. Just the opposite.....I am only able to get down just sips of Water and apple juice. Today I will take a few sips of a Protein shake....this may help my naseau as well. Thanks for all the well wishes!
