The reason I started this thread was to try and gauge how others were handling their food choices and the attitudes around them. I see and have seen in the responses and in this forum everything from strict regimens to none at all. I am 11 weeks post op and am doing well losing steadily. I feel fabulous.
I am troubled somewhat though on how to eat for long term success. I am basically structured, yogurt, cheese, Protein Drinks etc... However, I still find pleasure in eating and am trying to regulate that in a reasonably healthy way while still enjoying food.
When people say they are still on plan what does that mean? I realize the digestive restricted items that u have to work up to but do they mean dieting? I look closely at what I eat and of course stop when full. But I don't put a lot of restrictions on myself. I eat within reason, I drink within reason, and I'm satisfied with ny efforts but scared when I see how strict some people are.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm not sure I'm headed in the right direction. The nutritional info I got pre pp was sooo unrealistic. I mean basically it was dieting for the rest of my life.
I am dedicated to success but my definition may be completely different. How do u guys feel?

I chewed a chicken taco with cheese, (no shell) and spit it out. It was so flavorful, I cried afterwards because I felt out of control, even if I didnt swallow it, I told my NUT what I did and she comforted me by saying alot of ppl do this and its normal.

I've eaten " a bite" of bad things. I e friends go to Cheesecake Factory. I get usually ago tuna appetizer. But then I'll eat a single bite of cheesecake Or a single bite of birthday cake etc.
I feel so crappy if I eat more.

I had a semi formal banquet I had to attend. I'm only 2 and a half weeks post op. The options were beef, chicken or mahi mahi with potatoes and veggies. I was good and only ate a little bit if the potatoes. But they brought out dessert and it was creme brûlée cheesecake!!! I told myself since its very soft (I'm on puréed foods) I could let myself have a few bites and not eat the crust. It was like I couldn't stop myself. I ate about 3/4 of it without the crust. It made me so nauseous but I never got sick. That's definitely the worst thing so far. I know I will mess up again and again so I didn't beat myself up.

My plan has always included eating all sorts of foods, including sweets and carbs. So I've eaten loads of things that people would consider 'bad' probably. But I like to have the variety and the choice, so I eat what I want. I've recently cut out wheat, but apart from that, I eat most anything in relatively small amounts. It helps me for maintenance I think as well.

My daughter in law baked cupcakes and frosted them with yellow frosting then drove over after her ultrasound. In order to find out the sex of the baby you had to eat the cup cake...Since they all love me and Know I am working VERY hard I took one bite and then split the cupcake open to find my blue streak inside. I now have two grandsons coming in March!! I did eat that bite and swollow it...I have never been a sweet eater so that is not an issue but oh my...me and the chips have stare downs on many occasions!!

I've had 2-3 slices of pizza a couple of times. Three is way more than necessary, and you pay to play: overfull, which is probably a good lesson to have once if you haven't had it yet.
When I have the occasional "bad" day I just get back on the wagon the next day.
As sad as it may be, the occasional day or weekend of "overeating" (and I'm talking hundreds, not thousands, of calories) may be a good thing. Getting the occasional reboot on the fat and carbs seems to kick the weight loss back into a higher gear.
I still avoid eating a lot of sugar. I had a few of those snack-size Halloween candy bars one day and felt like shiz afterwards. Not dumping, but just generally lethargic.

Just be careful with those compounding pharmacies. The one in Mass is what started this whole meningitis outbreak. They are not as regulated as other pharmaceutical companies. Do your homework. Just want you to be safe!

I went to Dunkin' Donuts drive through for a "Skinny Iced Latte." I asked what sugar free flavors they have and was told that all of their flavors are SF. Then I asked them to name the flavors and selected mocha to add to the latte.. OMG, this was so good. The more I drank the more I became convinced that it couldn't be SF, so I looked it up on their website. Moch isn't SF and the drink had hundreds of calories. It was so good...

Ok folks, I am usually an "on the program" kind of girl. But last week didn't go so well. I ate about half an apple fritter. And you know what - it was fabulous! And then - within 15 minutes I had the worst headache. So, the carb and sugar monster woke up. The VERY next day I had half a cinnamon roll. And - big surprise - I had another headache.
My body told me very clearly that this kind of food is not for me. My mind already knew that, but common sense did not prevail on those two days.
I'm over it - I hope. I have 20-25 lbs to lose, and then I want to continue with a different, healthy lifestyle. There is no room for this kind of junk in my life. It just took a reminder - twice!

Three or four little pieces of my husbands funnel cake with powdered sugar all over it. If I just have a few bites not often I think it's ok. It only happened once and I didn't feel guilty at all.

I don't know. I wasn't hungry. I really didn't even want it. I went to a training class for work and there were several boxes, as there always are. I decided one wouldn't hurt so I got one and took a bite. But as soon as I did I realized that I'm not that guy anymore. I'm kinda glad that it had no appeal to me anymore.

I took a HUGE bite off a glazed donut a few weeks ago...chewed it a few times...then spit it out. Does that count? As soon as I tasted it I thought, it's not worth it.
